Griffin variants are for the XM30 MICV, which is expected to carry a 35mm, maybe as big as a 50mm autocannon, but they’re the same program (Griffin is only one competitor, alongside Rheinmetall’s Lynx KF41 as the potential future M30) The 105mm assault gun *IS* the M10 Booker, there’s not two separate light tank entries. Plus a few of the vehicles have already entered service like the JLTV, the first AMPV, first M270A2, even the first Typhon Battery is in service. The ACV is the Marine Corps replacement for their older amphibious AAVP7, and the first ones are also already in operational service.
Actually the cannon that they are adopting uses a straight wall 35mm casing with a 50mm high explosive projectile I forgot the designation of the auto cannon just looked up that it was built by Northrop Grumman
@@danielsnook7362 How do you put a 50mm projectile through a cannon that takes 35mm casings? You can't. They are using (or planning to use) the NG XM913 Bushmaster that is a 50mm chain gun. Edit and while we are at it. The MPF winner was the M10 Booker...they are not distinct.

Same here! Its MLRS by the way. 🙂 MLRS is superior to the hyped HIMARS, which has only half the firepower, less protecion and has less all round mobility due to havingwheels instead of tracks.
IFVs like the Griffin shouldn't be armed with large 120 MM guns . . . the heavy gun severely limits Griffin mobility . . . and as we've learnt from the ongoing Russia Ukraine War that in current day warfare mobility has become a top priority . . . more so incase of moderately armoured IFVs . . . the M10 Booker is a light tank not an IFV or APV . . .
I'd still call the M10 an assault gun not a light tank even though i admit it does look like a light tank. It's supposed to be used like a german StuG in WW2. Think of it as an air-mobile, turreted, StuG III.
Don't they add the GMARS system to their arsenal? By the way Griffin 3 and XM-30 are still in competition witch one would be the next generation IFV or did I misunderstood something heavely?
The M10 Booker is a light tank. It fits all criteria . It is a tracked armored vehicle with a 360 degrees rotatable closed turret with a large caliber gun for direct fire. So it is a tank. It is however lightweight (compared to an MBT) and has relatively light armor (compared to an MBT). So it is a light tank. However the M10 is undergunned with only a 105mm instead of 120mm.
My understanding, for what it is worth, is that the US military does not want to classify it as a light tank out of the concern that someone will then try to use it as a tank. For the very reason that it is under armored/armed to take on other tanks. They want it used as a fighting vehicle with a big punch.
Gryphon/ XM30 should carry a 57mm gun with twin Javelin and stinger lauchers on each turret cheek. Carry a 40mm automatic grenade laucher and either a 20mm gun or a .50 gatling gun.
It's funny how modern style is just sharp angles and straight lines. Maybe the Cybertruck is just ahead of its time because every military vehicle is starting to look like it's got those PS1 graphics lol
I don't know if it's more sharp due to the styling, but usually sharper edges deflect radar waves better than blunt surfaces. Probably a stealth thing more than looks.
And thats when you realise that all of that is mostly useless: you have to adapt to your enemy's firepower on the go. Russia supposedly had the best tanks in the world (which maybe is true but if you have only a few, they're useless) and, they found out that ERA and all that armor is useless, when you can just weld some metal plates to the exterior and have the same result against FPV's for cheap. You can never know what's gonna hit you and being flexible is the key to victory (and not overly spending on developing even more expensive technologies)
Prediction they will be expensive they will be complex to the point where 25% to 75% of vehicles will be deadlined at any given moment and they will not even come with in sight of a single victory of note in a war.
The cost of one tank is equal to a house with 500 apartments, why so many tanks when there are tens of thousands of homeless, desperate people in San Francisco who need state help, when the United States already has the largest army on the planet, but the last time only the Japanese attacked in Pearl Harbor?
Those drones are vulnerable to intercept by an APS. Essentially each vehicle will have it’s own air defense. Combined with jamming and ELINT, it will be very, very dangerous to be an FPS drone operator against a modernized force. The drones will have to rely on its on independent targeting system and perhaps even AI.
