There definitely is something crazy about digital drums that look like the acoustic ones... by doing massive wooden shells you lose easy, inventive placement of the flat pads. I think that the whole thing is just a marketing gimmick. Manufacturers believe that it is easier to sell kits that are made of fine looking wood, even though that wood has got nothing to do with the sound. Whatever, not for me and just for practical and non conservative reasons.

Now, to be serious, I'm absolutely not interested in electronic drums and they will never replace acoustic drums, that's why all the best drummers in the world use real drums, which are acoustic. These electronic ones can they have some partial application, but the main kits in someone's arsenal will remain acoustic drums.And that is the whole truth everyone can see that.

The most expensive kit at NAMM had to be the 150th sonor signature bubinga. That has to be $30,000 now.
The one he showed was a signature set from the 1980's it wasn't even the 150th anniversary set which is around $15k.

I am a child of the 50's and 60's go old fashion drums for me. These e drums make me crazy. No hate please. IMHO.
