  • Trevor Connelly is one of the most controversial prospects for the 2024 NHL Draft due to some off-ice issues in his past, but tried to stress his personal growth and work away from the rink. The Tri-City Storm star visited with 22 NHL teams during his time in Buffalo, but only participated in upper-body testing due to a knee injury while training.

Well, my Golden Knights are taking the gamble, but listening to this interview, he definitely seems more mature now than I’m sure he was back when he made his publicized mistakes. Got more growing to do no doubt, but this was a good media scrum for him no doubt! Hope he can keep his nose clean and his future bright!

If you guys can get him @ 15, you may very well be getting a top-5 talent 10 spots later. He's so skilled. And his "issues" are grossly misrepresented and distorted.

Could certainly see a team in the middle of the first jump up a spot or two if he's on the board and take him. If you're 17th and he's on the board at 15 it's worth the small risk and small price to get that level of talent compared to what is typically available

This isn't about wokeism. It's about character. If you've read the athletic article on him, you'll know this kid has serious issues: changing teams frequently, bullying teammates, swastika pic, racial slur towards opposing teammate etc.
It's stupid not to give an 18y old a second chance, but he has to be sincere in putting the work in.

@@aceventuraify Connelly experienced harassment and bullying from both parents and other children from a young age. When he was 14, he was suspended from Bishop Kearney High School following an incident where he allegedly responded to hazing and humiliation at the hands of his teammates by urinating on another player's equipment.[1]
In 2022, while playing for the Long Island Gulls, 16-year-old Connelly posted a picture to Snapchat of him and a teammate posing in what appears to be a library with a swastika built out of children's blocks, captioned "creations". He quickly removed the post and apologized, stating that he did not understand the extent to which his actions would be hurtful, but was removed from the team. He has since participated in diversity training and community service, and received mentoring from a rabbi.[1]
On another occasion, Connelly was accused of and suspended for using racial slurs during a match, but he denied the allegation and the suspension was overturned when the league could not find any evidence that the incident occurred.[5]

@@scottlucidi6476ya not that bad I thought it would’ve been sexual harassment, pissing on equipment is fucked up but he was a kid then probably the best player on the team with an ego. If his parents bullied him probably why he is so good at hockey, it is all he had

@@scottlucidi6476That’s not exactly earth shattering, and if anything, he sounds like a victim of a shitty upbringing, and thus probably didn’t have the best of support around him as he played his sport. Kids that have that upbringing aren’t going to be the perfect specimens for NHL GMs to scout, and so they’ve got to learn from their actions.
What Trevor Connelly has done sounds to be exactly that, and until he does something stupid again, I’m gonna trust that he’s grown, and is continuing to grow.
