Star Wars - Lightsaber Duel Clips (No Music, SFX only)

- Utilizing a mix of old sound effect stems, and various audio sources from each film, here are some clips from the various lightsaber duels in the Star Wars saga (minus the music & some misc. dialogue).
Unfortunately most of the stems were mono this time instead of stereo, but it all sounds quite interesting nonetheless.

Holy shit, in their world, this is how the duels all sounded like... Must've been intense. Imagine hearing the lightsaber hum as it gets dangerously closer and closer, knowing the next swing can end your life.
Which is probably not a good sign for you.
I suppose that's why they train like as soon as they are born... they are probably used if it but I really think the first lightsaber duel they have would be honestly scary...

It helps elevate Episode I and II a bit, but the Eposide III fight is so over the top that nothing can really save it.

When you watched the epic duel Anakin vs Obi-Wan in episode 3 and then go to episode 4, you feel like you are watching some old men holding sticks.

It feels more real like this, because obviously in real life you wouldn't hear any music during a fight.

I like it. It feels dangerous, it feels real. Seeing this you feel like any moment could be the last for either of the duelists. There are no musical cues to signify that this is an epic duel, neither does it hint that the duel is reaching a conclusion or that there is a long way to go. It feels raw and intimidating.

Well, it wouldn't actually be like this in real life. Most of these battles took place in areas where the background noise would be off the charts. For example, Mustar would be quite deafening with the noise of machinery and volcanoes and explosions.

I honestly like it better when there's no bgm in lightsaber battle, really gets you more immersed and focused in the fight and that doesn't just apply for Star Wars but for anything tbh.

As much as I adore the music of Star Wars, particularly the battle music, I love this. So real and visceral
I don’t like how no music makes the scene a lot less dramatic and kind of dampens it but I love how it gives it a whole new level of intensity and makes it somehow more brutal as this was what it would have been like for the Jedi and sith
Honestly, a different kind of intensity comes from this, and I like it

to be honest, I like it this way more because it gives off like a intense-suspenseful feeling throughout the fighting. I have seen the first 6 movies multiple times and I know what happens but this video gave me like the edge of the seat/what will happen.
You can really feel the quiet intensity and focus of lightsaber combat

I don't hear any clothes SFX.
I don't hear any grunts and speech or Vader's breathing. With one exception.

Yeah, I agree. The lightsaber sound effects were better in the original trilogy.
In case any of you don't know, the isolated sound effects to the shown segments of these particular duels were available on the now defunct Star Wars Soundboard, on StarWars.com. That's probably where he got such clean recordings from.

Removing the music really immerses a person into the battle.
Something about Maul's lightsaber and Vader's that sound so dangerous. The sound of motions were different but the intention was the same effect. Very nice.

Finally, now I can add some wacky and silly music to match the wacky and silly Duel of Yoda jumping about the place with Dooku.
I like seeing how mustafar vader is so aggressive against obi wan but deathstar vader just wants to keep his last limb.

Rules of dramatic background music silence is to be used only when a battle is reaching its climax/ or a decisive final move to end the fight.

If I was a Jedi I'd just bring headphones to every fight and play duel of the fates on max volume to avoid this

I don't know why it never occurred to me before now… In the fight between Luke and Vader in Episode V, Anakin's own lightsaber is being used against him. You'd think he'd recognize it and still have some control of it.

These are most likely mono stems from the Star Wars Soundboard, an old Flash game on the official Star Wars website - you can’t play it anymore, but you can still find all the audio files a few places around the web.

I’m having trouble. Having loved the soundtracks since I was a kid, listening to them often, I still hear the music in my head.
Some if these fight scenes don't even reqlly have music in then to begin with.
