Thanks for these videos they are very helpful. I have a 1999 S70 and just discovered that the carpet padding/ sound dampening material is soaked in the passengers side. Could a clogged sun roof drain be the culprit? I plan to remove the passengers seat and rear bench to take up the carpet to dry out. Should the drivers side be reasonably ok? Or is there reason to believe I should do the whole car? Thanks!
Possibly clogged roof drain. There is a chance the driver's side is not affected - but good to check. Usually what happens is the car is parked on the right side of the street, so it sits slightly inclined to that side, and it's mostly the right side front drain that drains the water and clogs the first - and leaks inside the right side as well
@@Peppermint1 That sounds like what's happening. As you said in the video since the under side of the carpet is rubberized most people would probably never know it was happening. I only noticed because I took it all up to patch a rust spot underneath. Thanks for your help! Tracking this ki d of thing down could be tricky.
Yep, one of the annoying things, I think it's an issue typical with european cars, for some reason they didn't figure out how to design these properly. I'm looking on RUclips and modern Bmw even got in a lawsuit for this www.carcomplaints.com/news/2017/bmw-5-series-clogged-sunroof-drain-tube-lawsuit.shtml

Does anyone know how to address this if the moonroof is stuck shut and inoperable? My footwells are turning into swimming pools!
You have to take the sunroof out, it's easy. it's only 4 screws, 2 on each side. This guy has a video on it.
