My Favorite New World Build so far! More details on Skills, Passives, Traits & More in the Written Guide! rpgdojo.com/new-world-wiki/new-world-duelist-build-rapier-and-musket/
I have a question for you. Do you think it would be worth to stop at 200 DEX. then Go to 100 INT and 50 Const? I think the 100 INT boost is better than going all DEX. I could be wrong and am hoping you have thoughts!
Thanks for the upload. I'm using a simular build. Tested most of the different variations on the musket and the -rapier. The rapier abilities I use almost the same. The only difference for ME personally, is to have the 2 traps. Why? Because upgraded traps gives *SO* much hp back when you fire on an enemy in a trap. Say you are down to 30% hp, lay down a trap, shot the mob (if you're fast with the dodge auto reload you can shoot twice in one trap) and you gain a lot of hp. Since you got 2 traps, if you failed on your first, you got that 2nd trap backup. Works on many mobs, even some of the harder (silver) mobs. From 30% hp to 100% in 2 shots. TLDR: I do like the fire burn but as I'm lvl 57 atm, the dot isn't really doing "that" much dmg compared to my burst on itself. So I am using Power Shot (Aimed Shot from WoW), Traps and Grenade. For PvP I use fire burn for sure, as it stops their hp regen from food when health potion and regen potion is on CD.
I'd just like to add that a spear and musket is just as fun and is great in situation where you're getting mobbed. If they get close, you got a crowd stun and a sticky
My first ever epic dropped today, and it's a nice spear. Equipped right away and have been using it to get XP as I hadn't used it yet. I'm starting to like it over the rapier, personally.
I considered this but spear is so so so so so damn good… and I find using bow as a shotgun is insane damage with all the passives, can crit 2-3k.. but musket for wars seems like a must have as the range is insane.
Been running this build since release as when I played around in the beta it was the most fun and very effective, carriages may be cheap at low lvls but when you're going through thousands of rounds a day at higher levels it's far more economic to make them, very low mats needed and makes x50 with each craft. Let you gear beef up constitution and commit all points to dex and your damage will be stupid lol, medium armor is viable also as the dodge is more combat effective for the rapier, rolling (light armor) will generally take you outside your own rapiers range, but both are effective depending on situation, Also yes, bears and shit and gonna slap the fuck outta ya unless you good at dodging
That is more or less every build, you just have to try and kill each individual mob as best you can. Musket is a great weapon for dmg enemies, there is no need for taken more than 1 shot with it. Easy mob clear is 1 musket shot/ability, rapier heavy, reposte, rapier light attack to finish.
So true, with really fast re spawning mobs especially in places with not much room your only option is to run away. With a heavy armour hammer build you just keep on trucking. The 2/H heavy armour meta just wins out nearly everything. They rweally need to give more benefits to using light armour. The super annoying thing is bullets, weight and the fact you have to farm mats to be able to dps.Other than that this build ios one of the most fun to play except when it gets just too annoying to carry on. Most of these showcases are fighting mobs about level 30 ish and miss out the bullet sponge mobs at higher levels or the archer mobs which can delete a third of your health with one shot in light. Every time you fire youre firing time / money.
This is my current build, and quite honestly I'm having a blast. I tried BOW also for distance and it's also very powerful. One thing that happened to me though, is that I needed to switch to Medium armor because I was getting almost one shot sometimes by some mobs if those were several levels ahead of me or if I needed to engage multiple enemies at the same time. Great video guys! I love your new channel!
Saltpeter can be found in caves like you said, but a little goes a long way. I pickup some every few days when I’m in a cave for another reason and have never run out.
I prefer just riposte, heavy, grace, light light. Much easier to pull off and it’s much more dmg (unless u hit hit all 3 headshot with a preloaded dmg mod shot)
@@johnwhite4070 Flurry isn't good in PvP for the same reason stated above. Standing still in PvP gets you killed. Evade is the best Rapier skill in PvP.

I believe technically that’s true- but for max damage open with power shot Either way works- if you choose the extended burn passive, then I would open with powder burn
They scale primarily with dexterity, they are both secondary weapons in the intelligence branch so they won’t scale as high, if you look on the attribute page you can see the white weapons are the primary for the respective categories and the darker ones at the end are secondary, so those won’t scale 100%, hope that makes sense
Ive been doing rapier musket and i find in pvp i dominate 1v1s against most builds but in ranged matchups where getting close is hard i loose and of im fighting more than 1 opponent i never win sometimes i can take 1 with me. Im in the medium armor range and have 150 dex and 50 con at lvl 31 any ideas to help?
Imo you should have both... evade + riposte allows you to stop most damage while putting out huge damage, you can basically evade every second and everytime you do you're mitigating damage and increase your next attack by +40%, feels pretty awful to drop that for flurry.
Nah my dude, you can mix and match, but you should only choose 3 skills though, as you only can use 3 at a time. But many take 20 to get the 21 master skill on each branch though.
I disagree with crafting yourself because it helps build crafting level, just fyi. Also for skill, flurry is too easy to dodge in pvp so i actually roll full grace and its amazing and increases mobility cuz of the haste.

Life Staff +War hammer is been good to me for soloing i just go full heavy all my attributes to focus use amber gem on hammer and have focus+constitution on your armor. I’m basically a tank, healer and dps because of the amber gem. I also use divine embrace to heal my self between fights so I don’t even need to use potions😀. I started with hatchet but switched to war hammer because of the CCs it has so much fun!!
I see a lot of these rapier/musket build videos and none so far deal with the fact that this build cannot handle multiple targets. If you can set up... get your shot off... trap... etc. All well and good for open world controlled hunting. Get inside a building, or a temple, mine, etc. Any of the many required areas for the quests in NW and this build gets destroyed. I tried this build for the first 25 levels and was consistently frustrated with its lack of any survivability outside of one on one.
Ice guantlet with rapier is God tier. Almost max level with them but I respecced to the axe and hatchet for better group pvp, rapier is better for solo pvp but group pvp there are better options
Remember boys Rapier and musket is weak on pve. If u wanna pvp early go mustek rapier sure but if u focus mainly on pve untill u hit 60 then go hatchet+ bow or smth.
I also use this build and am struggling right now at lv.40 when I have to handle multiple enemies at the same time. I really like this build, but right now, I'm considering changing to something else. But I also have to admit that the feeling when you headshot someone or something is so satisfying lol.
Musket aiming is WAY easier than bow's for headshots, the area of the hit zone is based on hit scanning with a musket so it's actually ez mode for headshots. Just practice it some more. Having the trap skill helps to root as well and you have a BIG advantage once you get the 3x zoom with sniping. You can kill 2-3 mobs from range before they even get half way to you.
I'm lv 60 right now and have been in faction wars. What you said is actually true, lol. What's funny is I've found out that hitting players with headshots is easier than mobs for some reasons. I just needed practice after all.
"I don't recommend crafting your own cartridges" Terrible advice. That's literally one of the best ways to level engineering, and you're telling people not to do it? It's insanely easy to make massive quantities of gun powder.

how do you track you´re ability cds in the middle of the screen ?
Its an option in the settings.
how do you get abilities from 2 different trees
You can select a passive (circle) ability without selecting one of the main (square) ability. This will unlock more of the tree.
How does this work with pvp?
If you are to start a fight you can deal with players extremly quickly. Considering you will not miss your musket shots.
