      He thought to be traded, because of the management change and the management suck. Sabres wasted his outstanding skills for 6 or 7 years, plus they don't want to risk on his needed surgery. VGK was blessed to have him for helping the team win the Stanley Cup, as well as his contribution to the community.

    I dont blame Jack for the team being bad, but this interview completely glosses over his role in how things went. He completely threw the team under the bus in his end of season interview, which was before the agreed time to recover had elapsed. He'd so already asked to be traded way before that. They didn't "strip the captaincy" because of the surgery disagreement. That's ridiculous and just another example of how he has acted to hurt the team

      Look I’ve been watching hockey since I was nine years old and played, I’m 51 now. You hit all the talking points right on the head. He’s a me guy, not captain material, leaders like drury, lead by example, the only thing he could lead is a line of coke up his nose. His interview right after this game was just another statement to his maturity, and how’s it’s everybody else’s fault, not mine. Ive never heard anyone from the Sabres organization ever come out publicly and criticize a player openly; that is until eichel. You hear former players talk about how he treated other players not his caliber, or staff. Man how I wish we could go back in time and actually win the first pick like we should have, and not hear from this loser. Since his return to hockey, the knights are 4-7 with loses to the Sabres, flyers, coyotes, and kings being the best of those 4. They are pulling a kucherov so he can play because of his talent, and sitting stone. I honestly hope they don’t make the playoffs. I wasn’t salty with briere or drury leaving, we do have problems with ownership, going back a ways. The pegulas thought they could run it like a fantasy team according to gerbe. That chemistry means way more then just talent in the room.

    I knew this kid was trouble from early on. The body language was an issue. Then the O'Reilly saga was the end for me.
    The neck was an ace hge got dealt. He asked for a trade long before any issues w his neck and then used the neck to force the Sabres hand. They took the captaincy away because he quit. He was at a Boston Red Sox game on live tv the night b4 camp opened soo... oh and the Sabres thought Jack and Evander Kane had gotten too close and that Kane was a bad influence on young jack...

      He didnt use his neck to force a trade dummy, neck fusion is incredibly neck mobility and needs to be reopened every 10 years.

    Eichel was pampered from day one. Never had to earn anything, handed the C, alienated all of his teammates. Saw him out at a bar throwing a fit because they would not serve him under age. Never backed up his teammates. Didn't backcheck to save his life. Most of the team resented the preferential treatment he got and don't forget he was also a coach killer. Dan Bylsma was the best coach the Sabres had since Ruff and Eichel ran him out because he refused to learn his system. He is 100% not a leader whatsoever and the Pegulas enabled his behavior. The new core of the Sabres has each other's backs and you can see they play like a team now. Tuch is 10x the leader Eichel will never be. We won that trade for sure!

    Eichel is an amazing player but a terrible leader. After that post game interview his true character showed. There is a reason the Sabres didn't make the playoffs during his tenure in Buffalo. • @Toche44
    @Toche44 2 года назад +5

    Everyone seems to act as though this was one sided, it wasn’t. Granted, the Sabres organization could have done many things better, but Eichel is not innocent. The Pegulas (for all their faults) did try to get good players to play with him. They did go get Skinner, Hall, and Okposo. They fired Bylsma because Eichel didn’t get along with him, they tried to get Mike Babcock until the Leafs got him instead. Perhaps the Sabres tried to foist too much on Eichel too soon, but he really was not a Captain. There were whisperings that he had locker room issues, and really did not try to get close with other players on the team. I do think Eichel is a head case who is used to getting what he wants. When the choices for GM and coach did not work, choices that they consulted with Eichel about, he decided he wanted out. He requested a trade long before the neck issue, so the idea that that’s what caused this is incorrect. Eichel got what he wanted and when it didn’t work, he wanted out ant that pissed off the Pegulas and the fans. Not to mention there is a credible substance abuse issue that was going on with Eichel. There is blame to go around, from the ownership to Eichel, to the fans who supported the tank.

A local Buffalo reporter asked him how he felt about going to the Sabres before the draft since it was known that Edmonton would not be picking him with the first pick in the draft. Have they made mistakes, obviously. But like the bills, they keep trying. It’s not a exact science to hiring the right front office, otherwise everyone would do it. Just like drafting isn’t a exact science. If we listened to a lot of the so called experts, we wouldn’t have drafted Allen on the bills. Just like life, you hope to learn from your mistakes, I would like to think they are. I think Kevin has finally shown this team the direction it lacked in all areas of operation. And we have steadily seen improvement in a lot of areas. I don’t absolve them for their mistakes, I ask that they learn and change them. But as far as jack, I could write u a book on all his character flaws, and his “me” attitude. Just look at the first coach he got fired here, because it was his fault they were losing. Everything is everyone else’s fault. And just because you put up a point a game, doesn’t mean u are a winner. Drury was never the highest scorer on the team, but he was a winner, and led by example. The Sabres brought in lehner, Kane, orielly, to name a few to turn it around. Didn’t matter, because when u don’t play together u lose. Now fast foward two years later the Sabres are still in the same state of limbo. After Eichel had been there for 6-7 years with the team rebuild and now management wants to start another rebuild most established players might want out as well. He did talk to management about the future of the team and if they would be willing to trade him for picks/prospects to help their next rebuild obviously he didn't want to go through a rebuild again cause you cant promise any better results the next time around. Of course they butted heads over the surgical route but that should always be left up to the player. The nhl lauded their hiring of housley and botterill at the time. I mean have they made their share of mistakes, yes. But just like with the bills, it’s a learning process. I’m 51 and never heard players come out and publicly state what a cancer this kid was to the organization(rivet, peters). Kevin adams a ex championship player, who treated hall to his wishes and shipped both him and stall to organizations that had a chance at playoffs. But they strip eichel of his captaincy, refuse to budge on his surgery(which I believe was another mistake by the organization)but again that was a narrative jacks camp wanted pushed because it absolved him of any wrong doing. I never seen drury say anything, he went out and played, he was never the leading scorer on the team. You don’t need to be the leading scorer to be a captain of a team. You need to lead by example. Jack isn’t capable of any of that, never was. He’s a spoiled little kid. That and only that is a reason I root for him to fail. Even if he was on another team and I found all this out, I would root against him. He’s so good he’s being paid 10 million a season, but they won’t put him out in all situation like penalty kill. Because he’s only worried about HIS stats. Well since he’s joined vegas on the ice, they are 4-7 and lost to the likes of (flyers, coyotes,Sabres, kings) kings being a half way decent team. All this leads to the character of this player, and none of it says he’s a good person. So I’m glad the Sabres didn’t budge on anything. I think they do for any other player who handles themselves with professionalism, just look at jacks post game comments last night.

      @@KHoltzie I agree someone should take accountability for that. You seen the Sabres try to bring in big name free agents, and trades, hire what at the time were deemed the best hires. At some point the emphasis lands on the players to produce. It seems no one on the Sabres has the leadership qualities to try to make everyone around them better. After olofsson scored yesterday, they showed a quick snippet of the bench, Tuch went right to him on the bench reached over the boards and grabbed his head and said something to him. That’s someone with leadership qualities. But as far as the injury situation, that’s dicey. Just imagine u own a business, u pay this one guy huge money to help lead your organization. He gets hurt, you know there’s really nothing out there scientifically substantial that validates the surgery. You let him have hit, he gets hit and loses feeling or something, your on the hook for 10 mill a year, for a player who will never play again, and u have nothing to show for it except a gaping hole on the ice, and a albatross of a contract with no return. I agree the players should have a right to receive what ever treatment they desire, but with that said, they then take on the responsibility of their contract. If the surgery works and u never get hurt there again, your good. But if you do re injure it, and can’t play, u lose how many games salary you miss; wether or not that could b the whole 10 mill or not. Why should the organization take the hit. I mean look how many teams had to trade Nathan Hortons contract, with zero return. And it shouldn’t count against the cap either.

If you demand a trade, you are no longer captain material. Granted, the Sabres are a dysfunctional franchise. Look at Jack’s postgame interviews after losses and end of season press conferences. That’s not a leader. I’ll take Tuch, Krebs and the first rounder over Jack EVERY day. He will succeed in Vegas as a an alternate captain. He deserves an ‘A’ not a ‘C’. Tuch and Krebs will have great careers in Buffalo. Tuch will score a few less points than Jack for the foreseeable future but the intangibles will more than negate any lack of production.

    He is basically a cry baby & it is all about him. I predict in near future every time when Knights are playing against Sabres, at home or away, Jackass is going to cry. He is NOT a team player, he will NOT make the team better because of him, which makes him just another good player. In this video, he forgot to mention the number of comments his agents and he, himself made after his injury in the very first interview he did with buffalo news & then TNT sports, that's one of the reason he was striped of the C. Bottom line, as bad as Sabres have been for past 10 years, they don't need another reason to create unhealthy environment in the locker room. I like hockey in general, growing up in Mississauga, you want to see all teams playing at a higher standard, any team that has a player like Jackass, it just make hockey miserable. Eichel is the reason why not one but two coaches and two GMs were fired, and no, he is not the entire reason for this blowout. At least 50% blame goes to the ownership & Tim Murray, the GM who drafted him in the first place. He was a spoiled brat the day was drafted. Oh we’re going to build the team around him, so whatever he wants will be granted was the environment that was created by the ownership & Murray, which resulted in what we saw in the end, took about 4 years only. Now look at the same team who is without the so-called world class talent of Eichel, playing their hearts out and most importantly playing for each other. Eichel simply has no class. He will never be an elite player like McDavid or Crosby or AO, because he lacks leadership, which comes with taking responsibility and making the team better because of your presence (Hockey is a team sport, it is not Golf or Tennis singles). Universe has a way to balance things out. Five years from now he’ll still be crying. Good riddance.

They just go with what the doctors tell them is standard and call it a day. Peyton Manning had the same neck issue and went ahead with the same spinal fusion procedure that Eichel refused to do. Manning is 10 times the athlete Eichel dreams to be and more importantly, 100 times a better human being. This all comes down to Eichel not being a good dude. He's a narcissist who thinks he knows whats best...better than everyone else. The saddest part of it all is he has 90% of fans out there brainwashed, exactly what a narcissist hopes to do. Nobody in Buffalo misses him. In a town when you have Josh Allen beloved and exudes team leadership Eichel turned out to be a local bum. He's nothing but an afterthought.

      The team wants him to play is the team doctor going to go against the team that pays his salary?

    He basically told the team it’s my future, my health, my call & stuck his principled guns-I respect the hell out of the kiddo for such a move because what he did took *balls* ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻

We wanted to get back in the playoffs. 0/7. That’s a joke people. Anyone defending this wheenie is on the outside looking in.

    Who cares what that toxic locker room cancer who was an embarrassment as a captain who couldn’t lead anyone. His teammates in Buffalo didn’t respect him. Not surprising his teams record is better without him than with him
