- The first graph we will learn about is called a bar graph. Bar Graphs are a great way to show categorical data. When you have two or more groups and a specific number of participants in each group, the bar graph can show us numbers and percentages. It is simple, elegant, and eminently useful. Bar graphs are typically used with categorical data (nominal and ordinal) and histograms are used with scale data.

is it possible to break axis in bar chart on spss?
dr daniel i need to make bar graph on spss. i have data of traffic people using car, bike and public mode and question was asked to people that would you shift to BRT and responses were recorded in yes, no ...i need to make a bar graph showing bars of yes no with all modes shown on x-axis and percentages of respective modes should be shown on bars...kindly help me i am dying of headache this problem has given me. please help me
So sorry that I missed this. You can do that bar graph in Chart Builder bus also with Explore. You would choose the side-by-side bar chart (forgot the correct name) put the DV on the X axis and split the analysis with variable on the Y axis. You can use the dialog boxes to select percentages - your mode on Y&N answers is the most frequently chosen, so go with percentages. Good luck
Sir i am still unable to understand...
I am using chart builder but it is showing the percentage of a yes and no of a particular mode from the whole data...but i want this to be the percentage from that particular mode only so that for bike to sum of percentage of yes and no would be hundred
Someone please help..i am new at spss and stuck with it..i need to complete my research work
I am selecting cumulative percentage as statistics in element properties but its then splitting the bar graphs...i do not want split bar graphs i want a single bar graph that shows how many people from each mode were willing to shift and saying yes
Very helpful.
A black line appears along with the bar diagram. How can we remove it
Hard to saw without knowing more. Try double-clicking on the graph to open the Chart Editor. You may be able to select the bar and change its color to None, or delete it. Good luck
That's not chart builder... that's chart editor.
