Professional Dancer Makes The Ultimate Persona Dancing Tier List ~ Who's the Best Persona Dancer?!

- For a bit of background, I have been dancing since I was 3 years old and am trained in every main style of dance (Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip-hop, Modern, and some Ballroom). I also graduated from University with a BFA degree in Dance with a concentration in Modern specifically.
I will reiterate that this tier list is based on Technical Skill and Performance Execution of the given choreography. It is meant to help people who want to learn some Persona dances, but don't know where to start. Since starting my Side by Side videos I've been getting a lot of questions like that so hopefully this helps!

Since there are more people than usual that aren't reading the description, I'll put it here too, b/c people be legitimately upset for some reason lol. This video is an edited version of my full stream I did. I watched and analyzed every single dance including Specialist. It didn't make the cut for this video because technically Specialist is not Yu's toughest technical dance, and as such I didn't say much on it in the full stream version.
Other than that, I plan to do more analysis in the future so I'm glad that this video was able to help a lot of people! Thank you for the support!

I love that choreography mode exists just in general. What a neat feature they put in. It's like they knew they'd have actual dancers playing these games!
It's just a neat mode in rhythm games in general. Plus, you can't really see everything during in-game, a feature where you can see the dances in detail is just well thought.
It's nice to see that Atlus is giving more character to them through their dances. I also like how they made other characters shine like Haru, Yosuke, and Junpei (like wtf I wasn't expecting him to slay those moves). I was getting kind of tired that people expect the protags to be perfect at EVERYTHING, and while they're good, I'm glad they're not exactly the best in their group.
When you think about it, the Protags are fantastic at their respective mixed styles.
Why yes I will watch this stream again.
Also, I like how Yosuke being the best dancer is actually canon in-game in P4D. Yu mentions that Yosuke and Naoto were putting the most effort into their training in the earlier chapters
The concept of Naoto, this super logical detective who barely opens up to anyone but Yu, just giving it all to become a good dancer is so weirdly cute and in character I love it.
Also ofc Yosuke would want to be a good dancer, my man spent the whole time in the tv world just vibin
Plus the fact that he's a city boy through and through, so his dance style is super "modern city flashpop" instead of being way more niche like Kanji and Yukiko
I wish that she looked at the pair ups for the characters cuz dayum they go hard and its also adorable with Yu and Nanako ;-;
And this is why I LOVE P4 like bruh we be diving the details and THEY SO CONNECTED THEY FEEL SO REAL TVT
@@Sayyble She would rank Kanji higher if she looked at Kanji and Yukiko dancing together. Kanji doing ballet then tiptoes away no cap.
Regarding Morgana there’s interviews with the mocap dancer & crew about how he was having to extend his movements much farther than would normally be required, in order to be identifiable movement when translated into the teeny tiny cat not-cat limbs ^^’ to do the teeny tiny moves is C tier, but to recreate the mocap performance looks more like A based on those interviews
"Alot of Adachi's moves are based in Isolation."
Can we seriously get an S tier for how thematic that is?
Seeing as p5 and p3 learned to dance from magic...doesnt that mean that Ryuji purposefully made himself dance badly?
he's just vibin'
I think it's moreso that Ryuji doesn't understand what makes a good dance. Being able to do whatever dance move you want doesn't help if you don't know any.
Honestly it feels more like he's just having fun then making an active effort to do specific moves
@@Gator_Queen8188 he does do specific moves, they’re just basic party type/line dancing moves. Ryuji dances like he’s in a jam circle.
The dream doesn't teach them how to dance by magic, the only thing it does is allowing them to move how they imagine it, it would still require a great amount of self-awareness and dancing knowledge to imagine the exact moves you want to pull off.
So the only real advantage it gives is that it removes most physical limitations (Ryuji's leg for example) and makes it so P3 and P5 characters don't need to warm up or train/rehearse beforehand (but even then, they mention in social link events that they train in-between dances). It just allows them to compensate for the fact that the P4 characters trained for quite some time before the game, because even if you can move how you want to, you still have to know how to dance in theory at least (just look at Akihiko just shadow boxing over there).
In conclusion: Ryuji CAN dance, but he doesn't know HOW to dance (but as long as he's having fun, it's okay).
Crazy how the p3 cast act like junpei isn’t a good dancer but got s tier lol
If anything he is the best dancer, dude looks so good dancing.
I do tho oh wait
Kanji should be in S tier for how he danced in the intro of persona 4 dance. Man committed 3rd degree murder on the damn floor
Tbh i used to dance when I was little but because my family couldn’t afford it I had to stop and honestly haven't had much a thought to it. When I discovered your channel, I really enjoyed your persona content and to learn that you are a trained dancer that plans on doing these dances has inspired me to try doing dance again!!! And I think its so cool for someone who is trained in dance to put the persona dances in a tier list :)
Not only did Junpei gone from Being Da Man to Da Wingman but he also has S Teir dance Moves to go along with it
Anyone who's played P4D knew from 0:00 that Yosuke was at least gonna be A-tier. His dance captures were so good that they had to write in a piece of lore to make sure you knew he had more prior dancing experience than the rest of the Investigation Team (save for Rise).
Haru is impressing, starts slow, and then, she just goes all out bailarina.
I mean i predict it to be a S tier.
yes.
Also guys...
Haru has an axe
I love how Haru treats whacking shadows as stress relief
In a group that includes a thug, a convicted criminal, a creature from another dimension and an _actual serial killer_ Haru is somehow the one who seems most likely to pull a knife and cut a b@tch
Haru swole confirmed
@@rickypedia999 i've heard that before but idk where.
Don't forget the grenade launcher she can somehow fire at a speed equal to that of Joker's pistol when you use a certain skill.
Watching 3D models dance really makes me realize how important facial expressions in dance. They dont have all the little expressive moments that makes watching a real human dancing so powerful
What facial expressions? Their cheek muscles slightly shaking when they dance all over the place? If its smiles and stuff, the models also do that
@@alzhanvoid nah. coming from a competitive dancer, the way you present your face relative to the style of dance you’re performing, it could be the difference between a scholarship and just a good score. the way that express yourself could come down to just the way you smile. the faces that the models make is different from a real person’s and that’s why it’s so different to watch them versus an actual dancer
@@mintmochicue6538 that’s such an interesting point! as someone with absolutely 0 dance experience, 3d models dancing always looked so off but i could never tell why. that’s a really good point. i guess there’s a lot of physicality and human “imperfect” that gets smoothed out while animating a 3d model.
@@wah-gb5xe I know that in idol anime like love live and stuff they usually incorporate winking into the dances so the faces aren't completely static the whole time, which would fall into the uncanny valley
@@mintmochicue6538 Ah, so facial expressions are important in dance because competitive dance judges think they are? Thank you, very insightful.

These games are amazing.
I think a lot of the gameplay visuals focus on the upper halves of the characters at different camera angles, since 90% of the people who’re playing the game are there to see the characters dance, not necessarily to see fancy footwork. It’s difficult to see how one move slides into another through basic gameplay because of that, but choreography mode definitely shows that they every bit of effort into characterizing the dancers through more than just their faces and upper bodies
just to be able to dance with the confidence ryuji has makes it s tier

Just finding out Adachi and his use of Isolation just makes me appreciate this game more
I am genuinely so excited for when you do Naoto's dance. You're gonna kill it 🔥
This is the quality content I subscribed for
What I really love about this is that some of the characters perform the moves "sloppy". I'm guessing that they just used an actual motion capture from real dancers which achieved this but they probably could have easily fixed it. And, I'm guessing that they probably did for certain dances, portions and characters. I'm guessing that they left it for others because it's more in character or what you might expect. To the normal person, they may not even realize this consciously. So it's a really interesting touch. Instead of making every dance as perfect as possible just to make it look cooler, or making every dance look impressive, they made some a bit sloppy and some really simple to suit the characters and I think that's super cool.
Junpei's a generally passionate guy and an athlete so glad he goes out there and gets it, what a bro
This video teaches one thing, camerawork changes an performance a LOT
I saw a few people mentioning something and I think a lot more think this too: it's that "P3 and P5 casts have an advantage over P4 because they are in a dream and can move how they want to". I mean in a way it's true, but the only thing it does is allowing them to move how they imagine it, it would still require a great amount of self-awareness and dancing knowledge to imagine the exact moves you want to pull off.
And also the one thing that's great in this video is that in P3D, Junpei says he is a pretty good dancer and nobody believes him (especially Yukari), but a professional dancer just proved them wrong by putting him in S-tier, which is great!
If only they added FeMC, imagine her moves.
One can dream right?
give her a creepy Fever time with Ken lul
I imagine her moves be less technical than Minato's and more like just her having fun. There is a mod where Fuuka is skinned as FeMC as it suits her quite well except in my opinion, I feel it is way too cutesy.
