If you guys have any recommendations for dances you want me to analyze whether it's in videogames, anime, or whatever, I'd love to do more of these kinds of videos for things outside of the Persona Dancing Games!
I know it's only two cinematics of 2~ minutes each but would love to have your opinion on both azura's dances from fire emblem fates. As a 3d animator i love these
also if you'd like maybe every character from league of legends has a little dance animation (some are voguing, some are doing some b boys move etc)

Probably the most unexpected partner routine for me is Ryuji and Futaba at 7:13, where they do a mutual headbang on a center drum. It's just so out of left-field, yet it fits so well.

Mmhmm. As someone who didn't really remember Yusuke's dances, his Blooming Villain dance partners were fascinating.

Haru's dancing eliciting the response of "I wish Haru would interact more" just makes her parts actually extremely accurate to her role in the main game in a very sad, meta sort of way
The first time I saw Yusuke and Joker's dance on Blooming Villain, I was playing the game and when they did the pose that they do in the church, I started laughing so hard that I messed up. It is absolutely my favorite one to watch in this game.

Akechi’s dances are based on personality and how he feels towards other and how those people feel about him, like you can see with Makoto that she’s very wary about him and she’s ready to fight him at anytime.

I still can’t get over how Futaba is trying to throw a Kamehameha only for Yusuke to jump in and do it instead with Futaba getting pissed off, pointing at him and going “HEY!” (I can also hear her going “Stupid Inari!”)
Also I love all of Morgana’s partner dances, he so goddamn adorable!
I'm going to go cry over the fist bumps and hi-fives used in this. These little character moments are what I LIVE for for casts like these, and I only really latched onto a select few because I burnt myself out trying to get King Crazy's on every dance that Naoto and Kanji were partners on in P4D. Thank you for going over these!

Futaba wanted always to be pretty like Ann in P5 and P5R when they talk in mementos Futaba mentions quite often that she likes Anns Phantom Thieve Attire and that she wanted to wear it. In P5S in the hotspring she wanted to have her boobs to be as big as Anns or as Harus. I think Futaba wants a body to show off like not in a perverted way but she wants to be pretty to be noticed which kind of makes sense cuz she was always afraid to show herself to the pulblic but now after she changed her heart she wants to pop out of her shell and Ann, Haru and Makoto(more Ann in this case) are the perfect role model for her which i think its really cute. Also cute is that the Girls help her with the Beauty stuff and remember her how she needs to eat balanced so that her dream comes true
Every Futaba partner dance is like a shitpost given choreography, I can't help but love all of them.
I know I commented in this video before, but in the Akechi and Joker dance I also like how they have some distance with each other and the moments they get near, they can't avoid to clash at the exact moment they are near each other.
It is very difficult to say who the best partner is. But I will say Futaba does bring the most smiles with each one between her adorable movements and interactions with everyone else.
Joker adapts and matches his partner's energy... because he's the Wild Card. :)
I feel like Makoto being better at solo than partners works well with with her social link and story in p5 since she always distanced herself so that she could focus on performing academically and after her awakening, she decided to stop pleasing others over herself.

The Morgana x Joker dances were so amazing and I truly love them because of how amazing their bond and friendship is and they're just so amazing together. I love the Akechi x Joker dance as well with the ending friendship they have near the end of both Vanilla and Royal.

I'm so happy you made this video because it really highlights how all of these dances are made up of the bonds they all made throughout the story, which is something you wouldn't normally see during gameplay. So thank you!
So with the Yusuke and Makoto in Blooming Villain I think I'd call him floaty to Makoto's grounded? It's definitely the word that popped into my head when you started talking about it. It shows how he's more rooted I think in the fantastical, the dream. While Makoto is more rooted in reality, the truth of the world.(Edited to add more explanation I thought of shortly after lol.)

Fun fact! Me and my brother actually preformed Joker and Futaba's dance ( 30:07 ) as part of our skit for Colossalcon East's Masquerade! We are not professional dancers, and we probably weren't clean by any means, but we practiced a TON and I think we did an amazing job! Even got the Best Novice award!
Dancing is not my strong suit, but I love doing it when I get the chance!

Joker & Yusuke dancing together to Blooming Villain feels like the final episode of a dance competition anime where the two heavily-shipped lead protagonists do their winning dance together.

I love the way Ryuji's bad dancing seem to really bring out a sort of fun real side with his friends
I love Haru and Morganas because its clear Haru isn't trying to show him up just trying to find a way to compliment his style without being too flashy
Mikoto is such a test as a character in these partner dances. They struggle so hard to get past "she punches the air" that you rely VERY heavily on the partner interacting with that and vibing with it.
YOU have to match HER, because you can't meet her half-way. If you try, you'll end up like 75% her way.
My personal favourite is Ann in wake up get up get out there with the twins. It had so much personality and the choreography was great.

I can’t wait to see the P3 version with Sho, his partner dances (especially with Makoto) are some of my favorites
Its sad how little they build on Haru's relationships with the characters, while most of her dances do have some undertones a lot of them are really easy to take at face value, A lot of harus dances with others could be improved a lot. Morgana and Makoto's in my opinion do actually showcase their relationship better then most of the dances, while Joker's dancing works better with her, it doesn't showcase their relationship well in my opinion. Makoto and Haru both try hard in their performances which helps them match up more. Morgana and Haru have a close relationship, which is reflected in their dances showing Haru to be a bit more laid back with Morgana and seemingly having more fun together!
I forgot to add this for why Haru and Makoto work but both distanced themselves from people so they're not the best working together! This also shows why Haru's dances seem so one sided from time to time because if someone cant keep up with her its hard for her to slow down because she was always pressured to do her best. Haru and Makoto both push each other harder and keep the dance flow going despite not knowing how to work with each other, they can keep up with each other.

My top pairs are Joker and Ann in Rivers Remix, Joker and Yusuke in Blooming Villain, and Ryuji with Futaba and with Morgana in Blooming Remix.

Ok, if seeing persona 4 partner dances showed me how much effort was actually put into the coreography, this video showed me how you can grab the exact elements or even add letmotifs to a dance and let them have totally different meanings.
PD: Also, I imaginé Makoto the moment Ryuji offered her a fist bump just doing every calculation known to mankind in her CPU brain only to come to one answer "Run".

Something about a majority of Yusuke dancing with people is just them syncing up with him or vise versa. Yusuke's vibe just rubs off on others
The P3 cast seem to have better dancing technique, but the P5 cast really let their own styles and feelings toward eachother show in their moves. Both very good in their own ways :)

This video was amazing!!! I love how you not only looked at the dancing but focused on the relationships between the partners, it really adds a layer of a deeper analysis into the choreography I never considered before. Is this kind of analysis a major part of the professional dance?
On a side note, I was wondering if you have ever seen Akibaccano, it's a dance battle kind of event where all sorts of dancers dance to a variety of anime music, and it reminded me of these Persona partner dances as well, it's really cool to watch if you're interested!

To be honest, I don't see the romantic chemistry. Their moves give off more best friend vibes than anything else, especially Ann's fist bump exit. I think the fact you got similar vibes to the energy between Ryuji and Joker, and Futaba and Joker, both of which are close relationships that are not romantic, just solidifies that.
A better example of romantic feelings shown through dance would be some of the dances between Rise and Yu, where you can tell Rise definitely looks at Yu in that way (although it's not totally reciprocated by Yu, which is still in character).

I just watched all the partner dances myself so this was great timing! It seems that any time the guest dancers include 2+ girls or 2+ guys, that's when you get the reused choreography for the main dancer. If for guests you only have one girl or one guy + Morgana, that's when you get unique choreography (Tiny Mona and the Twins can't share choreography with anyone).
The only songs that have all 4 unique dances are ones where the 4 guests are Morgana, Twins, 1 guy, 1 girl: So, Yusuke's Blooming Villain, Futaba's When Mother Was There, Makoto's Price, & Ann's Wake Up Get Up. The unique dances aren't necessarily always better, but since they're constructed specifically for that relationship, you'll notice those ones (usually) get to tell more of a story.
(Fun fact: Yusuke gets the most unique dances, and poor Haru the least.)
Anyways, it was really fun hearing your insights into the dances! I'm looking at some of the ones I wasn't that wild about differently now.

This is a long while ago but I wanna say it here. The reason the choreography is reused is because it’s a pattern.
(Excluding P4D) the pattern is…
Each character gets 4 partners each song. It’s always gonna be the same choreography for the females and a different one for the guys. If their partner is a child/small model (I.e Justine and Caroline), it’s going to be a different choreography. It’s also going to be a different choreography if there’s the mascot dancing. Like Morgana.
Some of these dances had me tearing up. Too cute for me to handle.

YEAHHHH! Morgana never misses! ...In relation to dance partnerships! I also adore Ryuji being a bro to all. In general all of these are so charming and I agree with Crystaaaaaahl's general prognosis.

One thing that stands out to me a bit is how Theo dances with Lavenza, like they're both attentents that are either not present for most playthroughs of their respective games, with P3P almost being non-canon and Lavenza being split in half for most of P5, so i think it's cute that Theo and Lavenza are so sweet to each other, seeing as they probably relate to one another
Coming back to this from the p4 dancing, I'm genuinely disappointed we didn't get to see joker dance with lavenza
G o d you can hardly even see Lavenza behind Liz. She's so BITTY. And Theo with Lavenza and the twins is so different from his dances in the other games with Liz and Margaret. You can tell Lavenza actually likes him lmao
And fr Blooming Villain with Yusuke and Joker doing the Jesus pose was AMAZING. PERFECT comedic timing 10/10 no notes. Then Joker and Akechi was just chef kiss. The Toxic Gay Drama(tm) in dance form.

Fire choreography
I've actually never properly watched all the partner dances despite them being one of my favourite parts of these games. Bit disappointing that some of the choreography gets reused but I don't mind it too much since I just love seeing them all dance together. Can't wait for the P3 and P4 videos
