One of the best things about these videos is that you can truly see how economic and efficient his guitar style is. Heavy as balls and minimalistic at the same time, there is no one quite like him.

These few notes prove the genius of Deftones. I've loved this song from the very first time but never realised how simple the guitar part was. I'm truely amazed how great a song can be composed with such basic riffs... I respect many artists/bands and appriciate their music even though I don't like all the songs they play. With Deftones it's totally different, they just play my heart and soul. Thank you, guys for your music, emotions and the magical expirience with your creation. I hope you're gonna play forever :">

Stef usually uses this blue ESP for the E drop tuned stuff and this song is in standard 8 sting tuning if any other Steftones nerds care lol

So confined yet so dense. I can't help notice all the "room" his writing provides to Abe. Funny cause it's Steph's playthrough, but ironically it also reveals how talented Abe is.
Abe is the king of groove plain and simple.
And Chino. I have been so impressed with Chino from these videos, I mean we all love the guy already but man can he elevate the simplest of riffs.

All the Stephen guitars are incredible and you can't change my mind
It's amazing how simple his playing is. Makes you realize that great ideas make everything. So many layers make up Deftones that guitar is just in the background.
I don't care what anyone says, love it when Steph goes full on Meshuggah-worship.
I mean they are the single most influential musical act of the last 30 years so I think it's perfecty sick.

@@TheAnalyticalObservers it's his favorite band, and he's managed to do a fairly decent job of taking some of their key formulas and using them in his own way. Obviously from a rhythmic and harmonic standpoint, it isn't close, meshuggah has him schooled there; however, he's managed to copp their composition methods at quite a high level. Basically producing a rather interesting musical composition, using simple left hand material. So musically, it sounds great and it's surprisingly easy to play. Meshuggah does this quite a lot (there are of course very complex left hand songs on mainly the newer stuff, but their older stuff is way simpler) for example, the rhythm guitar part in straws pulled at random uses only the open low string, the first 5, the 12th, and 13th frets and it's great.
This song is a masterpiece.
