That ending regarding New York hurts my soul as an American 😂. This would be like me viewing all of England through what I know about London. Upstate New York is known for its beauty and is much more rural, thus less polluted. It's alright, I know Joey would say I was wrong, though, if I informed I believe kangaroos and koalas can be found all over Australia.
Same. They were cool with Canada but have no concept that upstate New York is neighboring Canada. Niagara is a huge source of drinking water. Exactly like you said, they think one tiny island on the eastern coast of the state is the entire state. So I guess London is all of the UK, and Sydney is the entirety of Australia.
Yeah I really don't think they get how massive New York is... Upstate NY has the largest park (Adirondack Park) in the country- significantly larger than Yellowstone yet people only think of the city, just as you alluded to.
No way I thought it was "Annie are you walking" too LMAOOOO. My mind is blown for why I even thought for so many years such an illogical thing would be said
23:23 That's how I think about visual art too. As an artist, sometimes you just create something out of random whimsy. Some art, especially unexplained abstract pieces, don't have any inherent meaning. Some people argue that your background, interests, and ideology affect everything you produce, but that results in even more viewers arguing to each other about which interpretation is more "valid" or "true", even if the artist outright says their work doesn't have any meaning in it. Some people mistake "meaning" for "applicability".
Unironicaly, I only started appreciating abstract art ,after I visited a Modern Art gallery with my friends, where we discussed the meaning behind seemingly shit art. At first this started off as a joke, but the more we talked, the more serious it got.
@@abinjjaimon Yeah. On a related note, there are plenty of pretty crap art (as subjective the standards of "crappy art" are) regardless of its intent, ngl. Some just... tape a banana on a wall or something and call it a day. Maybe it's a callback to Duchamp's urinals as a commentary on what people would consider as aesthetically pleasing or pretentiousness, but it's still crap. I don't like gatekeeping "bad" art from being art, though, as much as some people argue that only the conventional and the pleasing are the only ones to "count" as art. It's still art regardless, and bad ones exist with the good ones. For some pieces, perhaps it's something about the form, shape, texture, etc. that makes it remarkable to the viewer rather than the interpretation or meaning. It goes the other way too, like how some people are alright with enjoying a song just for how it sounds and how catchy it is.
@oceanicGrimalkin I agree 100% bc there is definitely "bad" art, as art is subjective, but if I have a visceral reaction to something MANMADE, whether good or bad, it is art. If I saw the statues or Greco-Roman architecture everywhere, I would go insane bc it is everywhere, leaving the original beauty of it all to be too "samey." But if it's too different/avant-garde, it also has a weird feeling to it as it doesn't conform with society. Also, I am a firm believer that the audience controls the meaning, becuase our experience will always carry from one another, so if the author says " it has no meaning", that doesn't mean our interpretations are wrong because there is no way to disprove your meaning becuase you felt a special connection/feeling to the art.
@@abinjjaimon Indeed. Art, like life, can be said as having no inherent meaning, so people create their own out of it. Navigating the flame war about which interpretation is the "correct" one on a meaningless piece more often than not just results in people trying to invalidate each other's thoughts on something highly ambiguous and subjective. I'm not sure what you meant about the latter part about "no way to disprove your meaning", though. Did you mean that since the creator has unveiled the meaninglessness of the creation, there is no "wrong" or "right" way of seeing the work (correct me if I got it wrong, because I'm not sure)?
@oceanicGrimalkin p much, yeah. The author may say that their creation has no meaning, but because of its supposed "meaningless" message, it doesn't hurt if we put our spin on it, as it doesn't hurt the art itself. Like you said, life itself is meaningless, but our actions and thoughts can certainly make life meaningful.
The new feature that lets you do 2x speed only when you're holding down left click on the video is great. This is a perfect episode for me I started rewatching from the beginning bringing me back to 2020. It’s seeing Garnt and everyone else talking about vibes once again. And Connor saying beeps and boop good.
Everybody changes and i dont think thats a bad thing. We shouldnt see that as a bad thing. Its growth. I think the boys and the team behind the camera have done an awesome job.
14:41 I think a lot of us had the same thing… I still can’t hear it as “Annie are you okay” to this day… every time I hear that song it’s always “Annie are you walking” for me 😂
Room temperature water is good for tasting the DIFFRENCE in between different types of waters. That doesn't mean it makes the water taste the best. Ice cream without chocolate fudge makes it easier to tell the difference in between the different flavours of ice cream. That doesn't mean it's better.
It's like that with anything really. Coffee that's too hot or cold loses a lot of nuance in taste. Same with wine (don't know who's drinking hot wine tho)
Basically they thought there was aa contradiction when there wasn't. Yes the water sommelier is right, room temperature is easier to tell taste difference. Joey is right, cold water is refreshing because it suppresses impurities. Only Connor is wrong, no room temperature water doesn't taste better, it tastes gross.
@@grey_f98 What the heck, i cant handle this room temp water slander, first of all you can barely taste cold water and with ice cold water theres no taste as you are freezing your taste buds and the nerves cant detect anything except for that its cold. And as you said the water sommelier is right and room temp water has way more taste meaning some people can find it tastier as you find it gross. As for it being more refreshing, thats just because it stimulates your nerves and you are actively burning calories to restore your body temp, which makes you feel more energised or refreshed but it has significant down sides if you drink it regularly as it contracts your blood vessels. In general still water is way healthier than running (cold) water. But heres the real game changer, hot water or even slightly hotter than room temp; it does effectively everything that cold water does just without any down sides. Even as someone who lives in India (a very humid country), I will always go for the hot option in the water dispensers just as Connor said. But for the normal joe, its as simple as neuron activation = good and for them cold water is better

I love foreign music because the vocals become another instrument in my mind, I can appreciate the sound without getting too caught up in the lyrics. 🤙 Lyrics can make or break songs and sometimes it's nice to not be able to understand them and just take in the vibes.
Lyrics are basically one of my favorite "instruments" in a song but I don't really care what they're saying, I just like how it sounds alongside the other instruments.
I listen to 5-8 podcasts a week. Some of those are 3+ hours long and 1.25 speed has helped me maintain and stay current on all of them. The conversation sounds a lot more natural as well.
The line “Annie, are you OK?” carries more meaning than just the narrator asking a question. The line is inspired by Resusci Anne, the name of the model of doll used to teach CPR. Jackson combined the question trainees learn to ask, “are you OK?” with the name of the doll to create the iconic line.
I didn't expect zombies by the cranberries being thrown out by Joey. Noel and Michael are my 2nd cousins, and I love that people now a days still appreciate their music, thanks Joey
@@Silvarian I honestly didn't realise. They never come up in conversation or get played, in my circles as least. That's why I found it so surprising when an "anime" podcast I watch just brought them up. I look forward to telling them if/when I see them again

joey's argument for lyrics not always being important is true asf. there are plenty of genres where the lyrics are the focal point, and plenty of genres where the lyrics/vocals are pretty much just another instrument in the mix
Dude musical theatre must be like gibberish to garnt and connor like they watch all of Hamilton and they’re like “that was really good!! So what happened??”
What Garnt is saying at 57:00 is so true. Trash TV exists for a reason, we put on garbage to watch when we just wanna have something on and not worry about following plot or seeing anything flashy that distracts you from whatever you're doing. A good show is going to be an investment, and it takes concentration, and I don't want to put that effort in all the time!
Damn I’m not gonna lie, that point of Connor talking about not liking songs after learning about their meaning feels like a “I just want to consume, I don’t want to think” moment
Totally agree with Garnt, there are some content on RUclips (interviews, podcasts, etc.) where I'm interested in the subject but the delivery is too slow for me so I watch them at 1.5x/2x.
Garnts take about not watching a show you know is good because you feel like in your current mood/headspace you won’t be able to enjoy it makes so much sense. I always end up watching isekai or something fantasy related or even scroll through shorts.
I soo agree with garnt that it takes effort and investment to watch a good show. Watching a good show is only rewarding if you are 100% into it and sometimes when i am tired or just want some content to be there while i chill or eat for example i want SLOP content , soo that it can just play in the background and i dont have to feel bad about not taking it seriously
An episode where the bois talk trash on their own trash taste, other fans trash taste and ends the video talking about great taste by plugging patreon. A truly meta episode!
Currently listening at 1.5x speed. Listen to all podcasts like this I started to when I had more podcasts to listen to than time at work, now even if I do have extra time I’m used to 1.5. Normal speeds just sounds too slow now.
@@maineman5757 in my understanding it's unapologetically yourself sticking to your guns, basically just you have your opinion and nothing is gonna change it.
For the 2x speed argument, not many people have a lot of time to spend 2 hours of their day watching a single episode of trash taste for example. So being able to watch this at 2x speed, thus only spending an hour on it, opens me up to an hour free to do something else. I am also a regular consumer of long form commentary videos / ttrg videos. Both of which tend to be many hours long, so I save myself a lot of time that otherwise would’ve been wasted. It varies person to person, but if I have more time to do stuff in my day, i’m happy with that.
I can't believe Connor and Garnt are one of those people who didn't know what the song Pumped Up Kicks was about. Like I was thinking about it when they said they don't process lyrics or know what a song is about and glad Joey has that thought too. Blows my mind any time someone tries to say it's a "catchy light hearted and happy" song. Absolutely wild.
@@SnickMonster sadly i was one of smart people out of high school, who read the lyrics and wasn't shocked by it. I am not like the other millennial and gen z kids post high school who have no medial literacy.
First time I heard that song I at least paid attention to the gun/bullet lines and told myself it had to be metaphorical cause ain't NO WAY we're literally chasing them kids to such a cheerful happy tune.
17:26 I think the perfect analogy for this is YOASOBI's Racing through the Night. The songs lyrics are depressing af but if you don't know what it means, the vibe is banging.
For me it's beds are burning which is actually about the Australian's treatment of the natives or something like that which honestly made me like the song even more.
Shamelessly got introduced to this show through the first henti ep, then went back to the start and listened to them back and still enjoying these to this day This show is what got me into podcasts in general
I agree with Garnt, it's easier to consume mid content you're not invested in, the one I am invested in ends up mentally draining me because I'm so locked in.
As someone who grew up in a hot country and cold water was the default and now i am on the north, i have to say, room temperature water is the best way to drink water in terms of hydrating and refreshing yourself. But if you are warmed up cold water is more refreshing because it also cools you down.
Thank you another random internet person for diagnosing me with ADHD because I am not a pretentious music analyzer or don't understand the lyrics and only listen to chill out and fill the silence in my room. The wolrd doesn't need actual therapists but you and you only
Happens to me a lot, didn't know it was because adhd, in my head the voice and lyrics sound line the guitars and drum, as if i only enjoy the melody. If i try hard enough tho, i can understand the lyrics and their meaning
Interesting. I was diagnosed with ADHD, yet I love music, and learn lyrics rather quickly. That is when I can actually hear them. I was born with about a 40% hearing loss. I love songs that make me think. I can't just have something in the background. I find trying to listen to the lyrics too distracting. I have to sit and enjoy it.
@@jatinchanchlani8982 Lmao the fuck are you so mad about? The original comment had no passive aggressiveness or high handedness whatsover, they were just dropping a fun fact. You can run along with that fact or not its your choice. Go touch some grass and get fresh air
To Joey's take on music: Mostly, if a song has lyrics, the track itself can be pretty simple, since the lyrics care the meaning of the song. So, if you're making a song with lyrics, you can "save up" on the actual melody.
It said that room temperature is the best for taste differentiation, not that it tastes best. Cold water just tastes similar across the board, so it comes down to what taste you would rather have over cold water.
Its funny that i was watching episode 1 yesterday to rewatch the tsundere story of Garnt and Joey meet up just to laugh. I watched this podcast for a while maybe started at ep. 67? and i feel like you guys have built your careers more and managed the expectations of Japan really well for viewers and content creators making it realistic, made people curious about otaku culture and made hentai cool to talk out loud in public which is funny for how degenerative tastes can be 😂
Connor :" I don't like voice acting in my JRPG I wanna make my own interpretation of the story and dialog" OR (not in this episode) "Sometimes I prefer the dub over the sub" Also Connor literally minutes later : WHY would you not enjoy things the way they were intended to be enjoyed??!! I really like this guy , up until the point someone asks his opinions on almost anything 💀
I love the music argument, being able to easily pick up on lyrics vs only taking in music as sounds, it's the "two types of people in the world". And I'm fascinated by people on the other side
The not listening to lyrics thing is so real. I have half a masters degree in singing (woopwoop) and I legitimately barely pay attention to the words. The singing - oh yes. But if I'm just listening to music casually, I barely pay attention to what the singer's actually saying. The voice is just another instrument for creating beeps and boops. Sometimes it isn't, but sometimes it is. But the magical thing about the beeps and boops is you don't always need to understand what they're doing in order to feel what they want you to feel. And that's why music's awesome.
1:46:24 I hate to admit it, but I'm with connor here, my reason was that I was conditioned to prefer room temp water than cold water cause my aunts and grama told me if I drink cold water while I'm playing at heat with my friends, I'll catch a cold or something.
I agree with conner that water does taste better when its room temperature because cold water with ice just doesn't feel like water and i just feel cold water just doesn't quench my thirst like normal water does
What is cold water to you? Because it's 40 celcius from 10 am to 4 pm in my place and the water is 40 celcius as well. So chilled water is the way to go here. Otherwise you're just sweating uncontrollably.
I am so glad they mentioned "Pumped Up Kicks" at the start. No one at the university I was at knew about the meaning, apparently, because the music was played at an official event there...
21:11 Hi Joey ..I hate to be that person. Sorry but Turning Japanese is about is about turning into something your mind can't comprehend ... A lot of people misinterpreted that song obviously because of the lyrics..it is a sad song...now every time I listen to it I feel sad ...at first I also thought it was weird fun, out there song. That's why I think your point is right that lyrics change so much about how you perceive songs... But I like Grant and Conner's way of listening to music by "VIBES"😅 sry my man Anyway congrats for 200+ episodes and great special Love you guys🎉
People have different definition of "Room Temperature", in that google result it says room temperature is 20°C, but here in SEA right now, room temperature is like 30°C, you touch stuff in your house and it's WARM.
I really like going to the cinema - need to take a 30 minute bus ride to get there (only £2) but yeah there's something really nice about sitting in the big room, in the dark, with everyone else reacting around you. Good vibes!
If anyone would ask me about the worst anime fanbase I would think about One Piece, Hunter x Hunter and JoJo. Hero Aca is not even close to being the worst fanbase ever. Listening to Fairy Tail shade was surprising though.
I like to check the lyrics because I prefer to sing the correct shit and not mumble random stuff lol. I also find that a song with lyrics that resonate with me or my current mood makes me enjoy it even more

Upstate NY has the largest park (Adirondack Park) in the country- significantly larger than Yellowstone yet people only think of the city, just as you alluded to.
bought the black Hawaiian shirt. mother is very disappointed in me for spending 70 dollars on a shirt but she doesn't get the swagger
I wanted it but I probably wouldn’t receive it until September.. sad
Ripoff = swagger? We value YT merch with different standards aren’t we?
@ryana5435 oh yeah without a doubt youtube merch is a rip off. but it still is cool. is it worth having? not really. do we buy it anyways? yeah
People buy luxury brands for the brand. This is the same as that, but actually cheaper 😅
@@ryana5435 nah you're just too dumb to get a joke
No way I thought it was "Annie are you walking" too LMAOOOO. My mind is blown for why I even thought for so many years such an illogical thing would be said
I mean depending if you don't know the rest of the lyrics it could mean something else depending on the context, so it not that illogical.
It allows me to speed up a part that is maybe dragging a bit, like a boring tangent or something, then just let go of left click and go back to normal.
It's basically like using the arrow keys to skip forward, but without missing any info.
This is a perfect episode for me I started rewatching from the beginning bringing me back to 2020. It’s seeing Garnt and everyone else talking about vibes once again. And Connor saying beeps and boop good.
That Antarctica segment is built on so many layers of misunderstandings 💀
You can also call it an iceberg of misunderstandings.
I swear they mixed up the Arctic and Antartica almost 20 times 😭
Everybody changes and i dont think thats a bad thing. We shouldnt see that as a bad thing. Its growth. I think the boys and the team behind the camera have done an awesome job.
"I'm going to finish my sentence before I actually start thinking "did I say the right thing?"" - Garnt.
The origin of every hot take/trash take
For a second i thought that the boys really got a studio upgrade 😂🎉❤
Well they do but would be in the future episodes.
14:41 I think a lot of us had the same thing… I still can’t hear it as “Annie are you okay” to this day… every time I hear that song it’s always “Annie are you walking” for me 😂
I've never met anyone ever say this
Room temperature water is good for tasting the DIFFRENCE in between different types of waters.
Same with wine (don't know who's drinking hot wine tho)
and cold water is good for not tasting it. The cold just masks any property of the water
I'm with Conor. I don't want brain freeze when drinking water
I agree with Garnt. Every time I just want to turn my brain of and relax in front of a screen, I watch Trash Taste... Hits the spot !

Hi all @TrashTaste,
So lovely to meet you lot this arvo at the bakery😊.
Enjoy your time on the Mornington Peninsula! 🤭 oopsie, secrets exposed?...
I look forward to the video!
Enjoying your conversation here too and get what you meant by directed at a younger audience, but hey, what you don't see at first glance is the younger me, still inside😂.
Great channel boys!
I suggest you try search "oldest map of Antarctica" for some mindblowing info.

Speaking of which, ice water is great on the outside of the body, but internally I prefer room temp, even on a 35°C day working outdoors😜🤣
Safe and fun travels!
It depends on the content creator for me, there are some people that sound normal at 1.5x, some thats too much.
Five sponsorships? I meant, get that bag but damn.
Hugh Grant?
An oompa loompa?

Yeah seriously I pay youtube premium so these weebs get money and I gotta listen to dropshipping ads?

Connor hearing VA in a game: zzZZ
Connor reading a game: 🤯
38:02 Garnt you were talking about how it is hard to put time in games/anime that are 7/10 because you feel like you are wasting time.
damn even funnier because he was also arguing for watching slop as a pastime
The line “Annie, are you OK?” carries more meaning than just the narrator asking a question. The line is inspired by Resusci Anne, the name of the model of doll used to teach CPR. Jackson combined the question trainees learn to ask, “are you OK?” with the name of the doll to create the iconic line.
I didn't expect zombies by the cranberries being thrown out by Joey. Noel and Michael are my 2nd cousins, and I love that people now a days still appreciate their music, thanks Joey
Lol what? The Cranberries and Zombie in particular are huge still.
Travelling south east Asia I found that song to be one of the most popular karaoke songs. Legendary song
Dreams by them is so special to me. Shoutout Chungking Express
@@Silvarian I honestly didn't realise. They never come up in conversation or get played, in my circles as least. That's why I found it so surprising when an "anime" podcast I watch just brought them up. I look forward to telling them if/when I see them again
So glad I got to see you all at Dreamhack Melbourne. I’m Nick, the first one that got selected for the VIP Q&A. Keep making these episodes for as long as you can. Thanks Bois ❤
I already know by the lenght of the conversation about "what is refreshing" that we end up at similar place as with the vibe conversation from the last podcast. 😂
joey's argument for lyrics not always being important is true asf. there are plenty of genres where the lyrics are the focal point, and plenty of genres where the lyrics/vocals are pretty much just another instrument in the mix
Change is just a part of life. It happens whether you want it to or not.
Dude musical theatre must be like gibberish to garnt and connor like they watch all of Hamilton and they’re like “that was really good!! So what happened??”
17:30 Garnt saying "vibe" gave me ptsd from last ep 😂
VIBE MENTIONED !!! 🐵🐵
i legit said "Oh No" out loud💀
13:00
@@khemchandprakash9724 WAIT WTF HOW DID I MISS THIS HAHAH. I wasn’t even trying to quote joey 😂
The sleep noise Connor makes gets me every time 😭😂
The majority of these "bad takes" are just the boys being inept at explaining wtf they are trying to say. (primarily Connor)
2 videos and a special!! We eating good this week
i’ve never watched a youtube video at 1.5 speed before but to me it made the episode funnier😂
Damn I’m not gonna lie, that point of Connor talking about not liking songs after learning about their meaning feels like a “I just want to consume, I don’t want to think” moment
I get what he means. Ever listen to a good rap song and not realize it's talking about crime? Same with a metal song and domestic abuse? lol.
Idk, after taking in the lyrics of Hey Ya! by Outkast its not as upbeat and cheery for me. It fundamentaly changed the vibe
Usually only feel this with songs that are upbeat but has dark lyrics
@Reldonator see I like upbeat songs that are dark. Like the mentioned pumped up kicks and Cheer up! I think it's a fun juxtaposition.
it depends, some songs has lyrics that make it 10x better
Garnt is still Garnt but with a 💍
Joey is still himself
Connor the same monke
Yeah I’d say nothing has changed
Connor is more based now. He started playing the classics.
Connor went from not understanding vtubers to being an honorary vtuber himself

Absolutely wild.
that is very common thing, especially with americans in high school didn't know that song was about shooting someone until they read the lyrics.
@@InugamiTheHound Or you could just listen to the song???
@@SnickMonster sadly i was one of smart people out of high school, who read the lyrics and wasn't shocked by it. I am not like the other millennial and gen z kids post high school who have no medial literacy.
@@InugamiTheHound no way you said that. dorky 🤓
Shamelessly got introduced to this show through the first henti ep, then went back to the start and listened to them back and still enjoying these to this day
This show is what got me into podcasts in general
What a great start of the podcast😂( 1:22)
definitely an out of context moment for this year
I agree with Garnt, it's easier to consume mid content you're not invested in, the one I am invested in ends up mentally draining me because I'm so locked in.
this is literally like a summary episode of the past 4 years 😆😆
As someone who grew up in a hot country and cold water was the default and now i am on the north, i have to say, room temperature water is the best way to drink water in terms of hydrating and refreshing yourself. But if you are warmed up cold water is more refreshing because it also cools you down.
music being beeps and boops is a thing in adhd individuals, its a symptom called auditory processing disorder
So connor probably has it lol
YES, and that's a natural part of life.
It said that room temperature is the best for taste differentiation, not that it tastes best. Cold water just tastes similar across the board, so it comes down to what taste you would rather have over cold water.
I like how "most toxic fandom" anime mentioned happens to have a high concentration of shipper/teenage girl/yaoi bait types
Hearing these guys talk about music makes my brain melt
1:08:40 I have the feeling Connor is gonna love the Thousand year door remake in that case
Ericsson is a swedish telecom company, not a sony brand. Sony-Ericsson was a brand collaboration that made the Xperia line.
Glad Joey is finally getting fact checked. It’s been a long time coming
Garnt - Water sommeliers is bullshit
Nuvillete when garnt gets to fontaine- You sure about that
Its funny that i was watching episode 1 yesterday to rewatch the tsundere story of Garnt and Joey meet up just to laugh.
I watched this podcast for a while maybe started at ep. 67? and i feel like you guys have built your careers more and managed the expectations of Japan really well for viewers and content creators making it realistic, made people curious about otaku culture and made hentai cool to talk out loud in public which is funny for how degenerative tastes can be 😂
Room temperature water superior, cold water inferior.
Connor :" I don't like voice acting in my JRPG I wanna make my own interpretation of the story and dialog"
OR (not in this episode) "Sometimes I prefer the dub over the sub"
Also Connor literally minutes later : WHY would you not enjoy things the way they were intended to be enjoyed??!!
This podcast is the slop that I watch while I eat. I'm doing it rn

21:11 Hi Joey ..I hate to be that person. Sorry but Turning Japanese is about
is about turning into something your mind can't comprehend ... A lot of people misinterpreted that song obviously because of the lyrics..it is a sad song...now every time I listen to it I feel sad ...at first I also thought it was weird fun, out there song. That's why I think your point is right that lyrics change so much about how you perceive songs... But I like Grant and Conner's way of listening to music by "VIBES"😅 sry my man

Okay but when Connor got the opportunity to voice Mohg himself after disliking the original, HE ACTUALLY SLAYYED.
Good vibes!
Trash Taste is 1,000% synonymous with shitting on Hero Aca when they're not even doing anything.
The shade at MHA is hilarious
If anyone would ask me about the worst anime fanbase I would think about One Piece, Hunter x Hunter and JoJo. Hero Aca is not even close to being the worst fanbase ever. Listening to Fairy Tail shade was surprising though.
53:54 i was waiting for someone to mention them omfg
