Bias in favor of UTV. The difference in voice tone alone reveals much of the bias. Still, the stated pros and cons are mostly valid. Additional ATV points not considered: They depreciate at a faster rate (locally anyway) which is good for the buyer. You have the ability to ride standing up which is good for stretching your legs, changing perspective, faster dismounts, using your legs to absorb rough terrain and changing the weight distribution (which is good for side hills and steep climbs). No flimsy roll over protection means an unobstructed view, unobstructed photography and unobstructed shots at vermin. I once saw an atv rider get a shot off at a varmint before I was able to get a foot on the ground. No cage also gives the ability to step off the high side of the ATV in a roll over situation. When stuck or on its side, ATVs are easier to recover than UTVs. My kid's UTV had square cut gears. My buddy had a different make UTV with an enclosed cab. In both, at most speeds it was so loud it hurt. ATVs don't transmit noise like that to the rider. (Can you tell - I'm trying to talk myself into an ATV.) Good video presentation. I'm going to check out more of the channel. 👍

My wife and I have been ATV riders for the last 20 years (BF V-Twin 650s) & enjoy trail riding almost everyday here in the high desert of NW Arizona.. 5 months ago we jumped on the SXS bandwagon and bought our 1st SXS. It seems like EVERYBODY says on the forums, that once you own a SXS, you will never go back to an ATV? Well. we owned a 2021 KRX1000 SXS and went back to riding our quads. Yes, the KRX is buttery smooth on the trails and the seats and cab room is great. The CVT is "amazing-- perfect --smooth" So why did we sell it and go back to AYV riding? #1 Our SXS was screaming LOUD at any speed over 15mph. Forget having a conversation with the person sitting next to you at trail riding speeds, unless you "yell" at each other! #2 Cab heat. Once the outside temperature got over 85F the cab would start to really get warm. And on 90-100+F days with a short 1/3 windshield, you fry in the cab! Ok, I get it, you have a family of 4 and you can all go for ride together in your 4 seat SXS. How long do you think your kids will want to just ride? They want to drive. And for me, there's something missing when driving a SXS on the trails. It's like I'm too separated from the ground with the 20+" of suspension travel, amazing power steering and plush seats. I'm turning 70 this year and I still enjoy the feeling of being totally involved (shifting my weight etc...) in the driving experience!
I'm sure all you SXS owners are going to tell me that YOUR SXS Is cool in the cab, quiet, can go 80 mph through the whoops, dust free, much safer & more fun than a ATV to drive etc...
So are ATVs as safe as SXSs, no. Are the as comfortable as a SXS, no Are they as fun to drive as a SXS....for us much more fun!!!

I've spent 10 years with both. It is really apples to oranges. With that said, for the price, I'd take 2x atv with eps over a sxs everyday of the week.

My yamaha grizzly was 8200 bucks the sxs was 11200 the math just doesn't work for me in this case. Plus I can't fit four people on the atv. Granted I have only had both for five years so I don't have the experience that you have.

I am mostly referring to the bigger 4 seat seat sxs prices. Again, apples to oranges.

They both have different purposes. Ideally, in a perfect world, you should have both. You need a more of a work horse, sxs.. need to run tigher trails smaller spaces... atv..

They are not comparable.... It's like comparing car to a motorcycle... Completely different experience....

Also, bigger heavier sxs's wear out parts much faster than atv.
