Awesome tutorial! This is my second time coming back to it over the past few months as I’m just getting into flight sim and building a cockpit, needless to say I watch a ton of x-plane tutorials. The quality of the content and in-depth information provided is such a joy. I love how when you guys focus on a topic you don’t assume people know what to do or what your talking about, and if prior info is needed (which is out of the scope of the video) you link to it or let the audience know. Keep up the great work. The quality of cont on this channel has spoiled me :)
Overall, great video. Just a couple notes since most of us flying the Zibo are looking for 100% realism. 1) Wing tanks must be full prior to adding fuel to the center tank. I know you were in tutorial creation mode, but I want to avoid 737 pilots from making this mistake. This is taken from an actual Boeing 737 Ops Manual. 2)The reserve amount is actually your ALT APT+ FINRES since you are "reserving" the fuel needed to divert. This is confirmed by flightdeck2sim's FMC tutorial. 3) You don't have to manually enter the center of gravity CG or the OAT, just press the softkey and they will auto fill using the info from your MCP and AVITAB weight. 4) The avg wind direction/spd can be found in the Simbrief where you see "TOC" for top of climb. The ISA DEV temp is also listed a line or two below the wind direction/spd and begins with a "P".
Sim 737 Pilot thanks for the feedback. I agree on the realism aspect. Unfortunately, we’ve found in many forums low time “pilots” jump straight into the Zibo since it’s a fantastic “payware” quality aircraft for free! Care should be exercised when loading fuel as you state. Many may be unaware that loading the fuel in the center tank increases stress loading on the wing spars and support structures. This being the reason why fuel is burned from the wings last. I think sometimes the reserve fuel quantity is often mixed up. Since it’s a “bingo” fuel level, its awareness is extremely important. The alternate fuel is typically designated in flight planning as “alternate fuel” but this may differ among carriers. Part 121 of the US 19 CFR provides further reading for those interested in fuel requirements for air carriers within the US or its territories. I’m sure there is an ICAO version as well, but they are probably very similar. Thanks again for helping grow the knowledge base of the sim community!
Great tutorial. Especially for a newbie like me. But I couldn't find the next video when you actually fly and set the final things into the FMC before arrival. And what I mess up something in the FMC? How do you correct things or go back or start over?

@Francis Meceda Thank you for the feedback. 'Unable Crz Alt' can be caused by a few things. If you setup your aircraft and FMC according to simbrief (we have an FMC video and an Airline Flight Planning video on those topics), you can likely clear the warning and ignore it. Here are a few reasons the FMC would warn you: 1- Your trip is short enough there isn't time to reach the cruise altitude you set in the FMC, 2- Your trip includes a step climb, and you have programmed the highest step in the FMC. Typically the aircraft is too heavy to reach its final step right after takeoff, and that is what cues the warning. As long as you program the FMC and MCP to complete each step (as per simbrief), you should be fine.

That’s an excellent question and unfortunately one we don’t have the answer to off the top of our heads. We don’t often fly repeated routes (since we are no longer part of a VA) but it is possible. In fact, I think there may be a stored folder within XPlane where it holds the company routes. Sorry, to not have an answer to this specific question.

Sure, your progress page shows your estimated fuel at destination. Look at the current fuel on board as you’re planning the descent. Subtract the amount of fuel you have from the destination from your current fuel load, then adjust the gross weight by that amount. I.E. destination FOB 8.0, current 9.3. Current gross 110. Since we are estimated to burn 1.3, our estimated gross at arrival would be 110-1.3 = 108.7 then the ref flap speeds should recalculate.
I'm struggling with the whole waypoint/route system, trying to go from EGBB to LPFR, I get 20 different results, which I'm imagining are a list of waypoints and routes, im stuck on which one to input into the FMC. Do I input them all? These are the results I get, DTY4F DTY M605 SILVA M183 CPT Y321 PEPIS Q41 SAM N621 MARUK M195 LORKU UN866 KORUL ASPOR PESUL GENRO GENR6A Do I individually place each one into the VIA section when planning the route, or just some of them? Thanks for any help, hopefully this makes sense.
Simple answer is yes, you will use them all. Do me a favor and check out our tutorial on the default FMC. Its a newer video and I might have explained the concept behind the route better. ruclips.net/video/PcA0C-MPbRU/видео.html
Hello again. I just have a quick question. I can’t execute on the fmc. I got my departure Sid and runway, airways/waypoints in, transitions, but can’t execute. What should I do? Thx
My only guess is IRS alignment and FMC initialization. Has the IRS finished alignment? The PFD and MFD should be on of it has. Just let us know if that needs more explaining.
Nice tutorial bro, quick question, if we use KG units on the tablet/iPad for fuel weight, do we enter it as KG units in the FMC, or would it need to be converted?
The FMC and EICAS should convert to metric or standard based on what you are using. I believe we’ve verified this before, but it’s been a while since we’ve flown the Zibo.
hey this is probablly the best FMC tutorial I have ever seen!! great work. I have a question? How do you know that the fuel you enter in FMC is in lbs and not in kilos? is there a way to see it ?
Thank you for the compliment! The Avitab can be switched between lb and kg, but I want to check on the FMC. I have only ever used it in pounds, but that doesn't mean there isn't a conversion buried somewhere in the menus. Keep checking back, we'll let you know as soon as we get a solid answer.
@burcin Under the Settings and Features, Aircraft Config on the AVITAB you can select the units of measurement. That unit does transfer to the FMC, I have confirmed. You may also independently verify by using your preferred unit of measurement, then select the PERF INIT page on the FMC, and change it on your AVITAB. It will alter the reading between Kg and Lbs on the FMC and also change related measurements on the EICAS. Thanks for your feedback and we at FBFT hope this helps! Cheers!
@@FlightBrothersFT hey guys thanks for the fast response. I was also able to do some testing and if you I can confirm that if you change the kilo/lb section it literally changes simultaneously in FMC!!
Thanks for the video u make love it, can I ask u. Question about the 737-800X and zibo 737-800 what the difference ? How do I download zibo 737-800? Please need help new Xphane 11 Thanks again.
Hugh Wong the X is the Zibo. It’s a file modification from the default plane. A quick google search turns this up - forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/138974-b737-800x-zibo-mod-info-installation-download-links/. You will likely need to copy and save the file of your choosing to your own google drive as “file download quota exceeded” is common. We would recommend “The Zibo Community Group” on Facebook as well for updates and support!
@jesse baby steps. If you are fairly new to flight sim, or the 737 we would not suggest flying the Zibo. Just take your time and “earn your stripes”. If you have any questions, let us know and we will help or point you in the right direction as best we can! Cheers.
@@FlightBrothersFT the major issue is that my honeycomb yoke is not compatible with zibo for the rudder pedals like the default 747-800 but that version is honestly garbage and we all know that i have been using a joystick as a rudder but somehow the laminar research has added the yoke to be usable as rudders without pedals. I have used xplane a long time my first yoke was the original logitech Saitek pro 7 years after I would never use that yoke again so I know some stuff I just wish I had the rudder working as well as wheels on takeoff
At the moment, no. Oddly enough, we were just discussing making one since it is the obvious hole in our Zibo materials. I'll commit to you that one of us will make it within the next four weeks. @@FlightBrothersFT I started doing one yesterday with the intention of sharing it here. Spelling etc needs an update, but its start. Not sure if you have any idea on format? pastebin.com/e4C7FtKs
Great video, i stopped playing x-plane cause i Didnt know how to USE my FMC, but now i know how to thanks to you! Great video! Just one thing. My fuel on the avitab isnt like 142.7 its much more Numbers and i struggle when IT comes to the fuel
You are going to be looking for the total fuel. This could be in kg or lbs, so make sure whatever you are using (Simbrief maybe) and the FMC are speaking the same language otherwise you may end up with a “Gimli Glider”. If you can provide further details we might be able to assist further.
This should be a reliable source, and it looks like you are correct for the 737NG. Cheers! www.boeing.com/commercial/aeromagazine/articles/qtr_02_10/pdfs/AERO_FuelConsSeries.pdf
Sorry for the delay, somehow this comment got missed. Is everything else functioning correctly? In our experience the init has always been populated. Unless I’m misunderstanding the problem. Try loading the default Cessna 172, then switch to the Zibo. If that doesn’t work, try a clean install and DELETE the existing Zibo after backing up any additional liveries you may have to reinstall. Sorry for the delayed response.
@@FlightBrothersFT thank you for the response, I uninstalled it and re-installed it but the problem hasn’t been fixed. Is there something I have to do after installing to make it work? I loaded the default Cessna 172 as well but that didn’t fix the problem. I feel I’m missing a step here.
@@FlightBrothersFT and the problems seem endless, set irs position doesn’t pop up with perf initial and I’m getting pretty frustrated considering it’s been a few months
The initial cruise altitude setup is shown during the setup procedure in this video. The only time you might need to mess with the cruise page is if you are doing a step climb enroute (for example, the trip starts at FL320, but later climbs to FL360). When you reach the waypoint planned for the step climb, reset the MCP altitude to the new target and change it in the cruise page. The descent operations are handled in a separate video. ruclips.net/video/_MV2CAPZzyU/видео.html Let us know if you have further questions.
Sometimes I can’t find the Sid or Star for a route. And when I turn off the retractable’s, my plane goes into a bank angle/AP disengages. Can someone explain both of these? I’d appreciate it.
Interesting. You might check that your simbrief AIRAC cycle matches the nav data cycle in your Xplane. Procedures change and that could explain that one. Regarding retractables. Do you mean the retractable landing lights? Those should definitely not affect your AP. Perhaps a bug somewhere, is your ZIBO up to date? Just a guess.
Flight Brothers FT I just got zibo about a week ago. I joined X Plane 2 weeks ago. I’m pretty sure Zibo is up to date. I’ll check AIRAC in Simbrief. I’m still not sure about the retractable’s. Do I have to turn them off just before 10,000?
Yes, the payload weight comes from Simbrief. You can change the payload weight if you like. Simbrief is using an 'assumed average weight' calculation based on the number of pax listed to generate that payload weight.
@@chrisxen7654 final reserve is the "bingo fuel". At that point ATC should be advised that you are using reserve fuel and all efforts should be made to land. Alternate, extra, and contingency fuel would have been exhausted before hitting final reserve. Additionally, the alternate is in place should the scheduled airport be unusable due to weather or an emergency making the runway unavailable. The diversion should occur before reserve fuel usage. Hope this helps. Take a look at Captain Joe for his explanation. ruclips.net/video/YWBLqBaODF0/видео.html
Interesting. Let me ask a few more questions. Have you tried other airports and runways? Is your nav database up to date? Is your Zibo up to date? I can't guarantee it is one of those, but they seem like the most likely issues. It has worked for me everytime I believe.
That is odd then. Sadly I have no more guesses what the issue might be. There is a Zibo community group on Facebook with some really excellent folks who specialize in this aircraft. You might want to check in with them. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Download the installer from navigraph, or use their manual dowload/install option. Detailed directions are on the download page. Basically you'll download and put the files into the custom data folder.
The irony of using the word accurate number next to pounds when pounds is a weight of measure pegged to the kilogram itself. Love your videos. Transitions are long, is that on purpose?
Not sure what you mean specifically about the transitions. If you are talking about the beginning where we show the requisite Simbrief data, yes. We noticed newer sim pilots in the forums asking similar questions. Those led to most of the Zibo tutorials. While they may be a bit slow for more experienced users, we wanted to capture an audience at all levels.
@@FlightBrothersFT I meant the tranzitions from one view to the other (e.g. top panel to tablet). Not like it matters, just an observation. Is good that you take time to explain each feature in detail. Thank you for your time doing this.
Goalieno1 not sure about the gate. It isn’t necessary information and we rarely set it. Sometimes XPLANE may show a gate as “gate 27”, but in the real world it may be “C14”. Not sure if this results in the error or not. I haven’t researched this, so if the airport exists in the game and its code is the same, ESSA (didn’t have a code change for any reason), I would expect, like you, to see it. Is your NAV data up to date? We use Jeppesen’s Navigraph and update the NAV data monthly. We often see this issue with waypoints being unavailable, but have not experienced it with an airport.
This was filmed on the Zibo mod of the 738 in XP11. It is possible you have a newer version of the Zibo, or perhaps are using the XP 738 with the default XP FMC.
Arrivals installation is a matter of preference. If you're simming off-line, then the only thing that would change your runway and STAR is a wind change. In the real world, or on an online ATC platform (like VATSIM), you might choose to wait until you have a better idea of where ATC might send you.
Sorry for the confusion. Skyvector is a flight planning resource, but you have to input the origin, destination, and full route. To generate a route most sim pilots use Simbrief. Please checkout our video titled 'Airline Flight Planning' to see exactly how to get that route.
Can anyone help? I have been trying to get zibo 737x to work in xplane11 for months and different problems and bugs keep coming up making xplane impossible to use. I cannot afford £80 for a payware aircraft and zibo seems to be the only solution. At the start of playing plane 11 (mid 2019) it worked perfectly but I didn’t no how to fly I nearly had the hang of the zibo 737 when bugs came up making it unusable. I have reinstalled several times on steam and even reset windows 10 but no luck. I am running out of options!
Playmentic I’ll let Tim chime in as well if he chooses. I, Lee, have not had many problems. I had one issue and disabled a plug-in in which resolved it. Neither of us install Zibo Betas, usually waiting until a full release comes out. We also update periodically so our Zibos get “generational” advances. We do not update every release that comes out. I’m sure you were looking for a more black and white answer, but we really don’t have one. I would suggest joining the X-Plane 11 community group on Facebook if you haven’t already. There is quite a wealth of knowledge there.
Flight Brothers FT I have many bugs at the moment like: Fmc display not turning on Frequent crashes Avitab problems Buttons not working Replay mode not working And etc...
Tanxx I notice you open simbrief without quiting x plane ..how you do that? Also how can i input a flight route from sim to fmc Example Mmsd avuvo vz mzt mmmz by the way ...excelent job !!! Vito from tijuana Mexico😎
Skyvector does not generate routes. You would use simbrief to get an auto generated routing. Check our Airline Flight Planning video for specific directions.

Sorry, this is the only version we have right now. It is a complex setup, and it makes more sense going slow having everything explained. Here is the a quick list from my memory of you want an overview. Position Init. Enter departure airport, enter arrival airport. Enter route. Select departure SID. Set cruise altitude. Set OAT and weight. Select engine performance or derate. Select V speeds. Execute all input data. Check for discontinuities on legs page. Verify plan on MFD using step function. Select STAR prior to departure or enroute.
Yasin Haidar if you are referring to the Airline flight number, that can be anything. At FBFT, we generally go to FlightAware or Flightradar24.com, find a route/aircraft we want to fly, then that is what we use for that flight. I hope this answers your question, if not, get back with us and we will respond as soon as we can.
I use flightaware.com. I search the origin and destination airports I want to fly. Then I look for my preferred livery (United) in the results and look for a B737 or B738 as aircraft so I know it is realistically possible, especially if I want to fly a longer route.
Great question @LopsicYT, and thank you for including the time stamp! Skyvector.com isn't required, but it is a good reference. We simply use Skyvector to visualize the route. Our route was created by Simbrief.com, and mimics the real United route. We strongly recommend Simbrief, but you can also make your own routes by looking at the charts (another use for Skyvector) or simply copy and paste a route from a real flight on Flightaware. I hope that helps. If not, keep the questions coming!
The huge benefit with Skyvector is free pdf charts you can save in your avitab/charts folder or on your desktop (I use my ipad on my yoke) so that you have the necessary airport, SIDS, STARS, and runway charts. This is very important if you are flying online with ATC services.
30:47 just click 1st button like everything data coming from somewhere on airplane that is readable. so just click it.99% sure it fill same lol.if you genious pilot you think ahead and put what it will be when you actually takeoff lol
My apologies, while we try to do things correctly there frequently are mistakes and we try to acknowledge them as they arise. We could reshoot or edit these out, but making mistakes is a very real part of the sim experience for most air-chair pilots so we have decided to leave them. Here is some more polished information if the errors in the video are causing confusion. www.b737.org.uk/fmc.htm

You are welcome. Thank you for the compliment.
@@FlightBrothersFT how do you set the gross weight for landing tho? Is it automatically done when you set the perf ...
Thanks a lot :p This tutorial is amazing
So glad it helped. Be sure to check out our other tutorials. That was actually one of our oldest videos, and the quality has only improved since then.
Do you know how to see if I’m using reserve fuel
I believe the CDU says “using reserve”, but you’ll also know by running your fuel calculations how close you are.
I'm struggling with the whole waypoint/route system, trying to go from EGBB to LPFR, I get 20 different results, which I'm imagining are a list of waypoints and routes, im stuck on which one to input into the FMC. Do I input them all?
These are the results I get, DTY4F DTY M605 SILVA M183 CPT Y321 PEPIS Q41 SAM N621 MARUK M195 LORKU UN866 KORUL ASPOR PESUL GENRO GENR6A
Do I individually place each one into the VIA section when planning the route, or just some of them?
Flight Brothers FT Oh, it’s fine! I got it to work. I just needed to hit activate. Thank you
Nice tutorial bro, quick question, if we use KG units on the tablet/iPad for fuel weight, do we enter it as KG units in the FMC, or would it need to be converted?

I have used xplane a long time my first yoke was the original logitech Saitek pro 7 years after I would never use that yoke again so I know some stuff I just wish I had the rudder working as well as wheels on takeoff
how you change for decimal number in the payload page mine are full number in lbs/kgs
You should be able to input the correct one or adjust it in the fuel/payload manager within XPlane itself.

You are going to be looking for the total fuel. This could be in kg or lbs, so make sure whatever you are using (Simbrief maybe) and the FMC are speaking the same language otherwise you may end up with a “Gimli Glider”. If you can provide further details we might be able to assist further.

@@FlightBrothersFT And it's gold for me
Why doesn’t performance initial pop up in the bottom right corner of my FMC?
What about the climb Cruze and decent pages.
Do I have to turn them off just before 10,000?
where did you get your payload value on avitab? Is it from simbrief? under weight section est value?
Yes, the payload weight comes from Simbrief. You can change the payload weight if you like. Simbrief is using an 'assumed average weight' calculation based on the number of pax listed to generate that payload weight.
@@FlightBrothersFT thanks for the info btw about fuel reserves some video claim it was something like altn+finres so im quite confused
@@FlightBrothersFT thank you 😃
@@chrisxen7654 Flightdeck2sim's Channel in his FMC tutorial does state that ALT+FINRES = Reserves. He is a real world 737 pilot based in Europe.
on 28:53, how did you get the runway info? mines shows blank even after correctly filled out the departure and arrival.
Interesting. Let me ask a few more questions. Have you tried other airports and runways? Is your nav database up to date? Is your Zibo up to date? I can't guarantee it is one of those, but they seem like the most likely issues. It has worked for me everytime I believe.
Flight Brothers FT I updated navigraph FMC to 2007 and Zibo is also updated.
That is odd then. Sadly I have no more guesses what the issue might be. There is a Zibo community group on Facebook with some really excellent folks who specialize in this aircraft. You might want to check in with them. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.
Flight Brothers FT thank you for trying, I really love your videos btw. Very detailed and simple.

Another thing. When i type in ESSA in the fmc REF AIRPORT it says "NOT IN DATABASE" Same with the GATE
Flight Brothers FT it’s working now. I needed to update zibo
Goalieno1 great! Glad you resolved it. Cheers!
why my zibo 738's FMC is differernt?
This was filmed on the Zibo mod of the 738 in XP11. It is possible you have a newer version of the Zibo, or perhaps are using the XP 738 with the default XP FMC.
You're not going to put in the arrival yet? :D
Arrivals installation is a matter of preference. If you're simming off-line, then the only thing that would change your runway and STAR is a wind change. In the real world, or on an online ATC platform (like VATSIM), you might choose to wait until you have a better idea of where ATC might send you.
I am not getting the TOW in points? Can you tell me the reason
Saad Rizwan we are a bit unclear what you mean. Could you clarify?
When i'm on SkyVector it doesn't show the routes?
Sorry for the confusion. Skyvector is a flight planning resource, but you have to input the origin, destination, and full route. To generate a route most sim pilots use Simbrief. Please checkout our video titled 'Airline Flight Planning' to see exactly how to get that route.
the funny thing is i was doing a flight from klax to ksfo
Sorry to hear that. Can you describe the bugs you are having?

Set OAT and weight. Select engine performance or derate. Select V speeds. Execute all input data. Check for discontinuities on legs page. Verify plan on MFD using step function. Select STAR prior to departure or enroute.
But...how to find flight code or flight number?
Yasin Haidar if you are referring to the Airline flight number, that can be anything. At FBFT, we generally go to FlightAware or Flightradar24.com, find a route/aircraft we want to fly, then that is what we use for that flight. I hope this answers your question, if not, get back with us and we will respond as soon as we can.
Thanks!
I use flightaware.com. I search the origin and destination airports I want to fly. Then I look for my preferred livery (United) in the results and look for a B737 or B738 as aircraft so I know it is realistically possible, especially if I want to fly a longer route.
don't understand what I have to do in skyvector 19:18
Great question @LopsicYT, and thank you for including the time stamp! Skyvector.com isn't required, but it is a good reference. We simply use Skyvector to visualize the route. Our route was created by Simbrief.com, and mimics the real United route. We strongly recommend Simbrief, but you can also make your own routes by looking at the charts (another use for Skyvector) or simply copy and paste a route from a real flight on Flightaware. I hope that helps. If not, keep the questions coming!
@@FlightBrothersFT yeah thx I was doing klax ksfo and simbrief was crazy so I didn't understand but I did ksfo klax and it worked thx

The huge benefit with Skyvector is free pdf charts you can save in your avitab/charts folder or on your desktop (I use my ipad on my yoke) so that you have the necessary airport, SIDS, STARS, and runway charts. This is very important if you are flying online with ATC services.
