Oh, what a beautiful vision in time With a meaningful range of expression in rhyme Infinitesimal strangers on wings of a plane Flying narwhal's adventure in standing refrain I’m not a man you see, I just repeat for free ("Sorry, not sorry," wrote Plato's apology) Tilly & Wall shot a goal, Tally Hall saved it (Conjuring callow philosopher Socrates) "I did not do it," claimed hemlock Bartholomew (Stromboli puppetry, have a cigar) Causing effects from a masterpiece point of view (Señor Freud, you remember, guitars are guitars) Oh, what a moving expansion of space With a meaningful range of repression in grace.
Abigail No problem! So most importantly, Joe Hawley was a singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the band Tally Hall from 2002-2011. At one point, around the time tally hall was touring for their second album, Good & Evil, they played with a band called Tilly and the Wall as an opener. You can see a clip of them performing in a series posted by tally hall called the boralogues, a video diary series from their time touring. (apparently it was just kind of a weird dynamic touring with one another cause of the super close names which made for strange advertising/performances or whatever haha)
I really wish more people knew about Joe Hawley Joe Hawley specifically because of Aristotle's Denial alone, seriously one of my favorite Joe Hawley products
The fact that he initially released it in reverse is a clear indication of it being a masterpiece by Joe. From the snippets and demoes alone, it's safe to say that Joe has dedicated a reasonable amount of time to this song post-Miracle Musical, and there's never going to be a day where I'll get tired of hearing it.
The transition to the more calming part, "Fool coda" is amazing. He's just a amazing person in general, i'm happy for him to get more famous these days.
explaining tilly and the wall-tally hall: tally hall and tilly and the wall are 2 bands that toured together in 2008 at rickshaw stop. this was just more of a dynamic tour where they kinda promoted each other due to their similar names the line says "tilly & wall shot a goal" referencing tilly and the wall and "tally hall saved it" both referencing joe hawley's band (tally hall) and the soccer goalkeeper talmon tall (known as tally hall)
Joe Hawley uploaded a video with some of the samples used in the final version, I just cut everything else and posted this so I could play it in a discord vc
