I literally just got home from a 3 day weekend at this place with my girlfriend, unbelievable experience. Super clean, friendly staff, spa was amazing. Jonathan was great, helped me get my car unstuck from a little ditch I by accidentally backed my car into :P Thank you again Jonathan! Enjoy the wine, We will be back!
Nice comment, seems like a great place to visit if you can, glad you did and got to EXPERIENCE it, or better yet to live in these or similar and ENJOY ! STAY WELL !
Jonathan's love for the land and enthusiasm for the structures are contagious. What a beautiful human being inside and out. His father is certainly smiling from above. 🦋
K2scuba I thought the same thing as I watched, that his dad must be very pleased with what his sons, Jonathan and Simon are doing with the family land and how they enjoy the land, planning and building of the structures.
When I saw the child put his hands on the infinity deck glass, I was like, "aaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! Cause the glass looked so clean. I imagine they had painstakingly cleaned it for this showing. Sweet children though & I know all viewers appreciate these educational and "good family time" trips for them🤗 Thank you so much Mr. & Mrs. Dirksen for taking us all over the world to experience what we would not have otherwise! Love & Blessings
Type in 'tour of a tiny house in Quebec forest' for the tour of house you see at 3:06....i saw that video almost 2.5 years ago and it made such an impression that I just cannot forget it even after watching thousands of tiny house videos....name of the channel is 'mali mish'.
Only 17 comments so far and plenty of skepticism!!! I am just smitten; two people abound with ideas, connected with nature, producing idea after idea thus enabling others to share their incredibly beautiful environment. Just stunning.
Same here, I find their efforts and accomplishments commendable and stunning too ! Unpretentious natural elegance of style...I would think their predecessors, their family now, as well as many like myself are happy for what they have achieved while integrating so many components harmoniously. I'd be honored to breath in love, life, health and the beauty of this wonderful environment anytime ! Thanks for sharing, stay well and God bless !
DAAAAAYYYYUM Kirsten girl! You have the best job, seeing all these lovely spots around the world, checking out the creativity out there to be revealed in gorgeous places ...
Kirsten: your work is AMAZING. I have loved all of your video, and your interviewing style of almost disappearing and letting the places and people speak for themselves is superb. I always love seeing your family enjoying themselves so much too. If I could I would give you a million likes.
I ❤ this family, and how very aware they are with their surroundings. This is a wonderful family business as well, cannot get much better than this!!!!!
They managed to grow up but still retain the creative energy and childish delight of youth. Love what they're doing. That shot of the stars... That place looks like it's the threshold to heaven;) Thanks for another wonderful video.
I want to say a B.I.G. THANK YOU to Kirsten for another brilliant production... I mean, it is extremely engrossing to watch any of your films. And I am equally grateful to the owners of this property to very kindly allow us a tour of the same...both of you, brothers are doing a great job carrying on the dreams, aspirations, and the legacy of your father...All the very best...❗🌿😊👍
My compliments on the videography! It was a delight to see the different perspectives presented by the different seasons and changing weather... a splendid idea and well executed with rugged yet beautiful architectural designs.

Jonathan and Simon have done a wonderful job keeping their father's dream of making a camping resort. All the cabins are beautiful but I love the main house cabin with the secret child's hideout the most.
These are amazing! So much energy put in and almost a playful creativity! I am from Minnesota and spent much time as a child playing in the forest at our Grandparents and family cabin - my favorite place in the world.
@Kirsten Dirksen. I love your videos, the silence in the intro, the space in between the subjects and the owners/builders, your kids and Husband completely connected to your project. I would love to see a little more info in these videos about building dimensions, sq footage, length and width of exteriors, so those of us on the journey of planning our own small or tiny space can get a better feel for how small is big enough to contain our lives. Thank you for your work.
I'm currently living in the province of Quebec and have been thinking a great deal about what sort of home I will want to eventually build and live in. This whole series is giving me ideas of what is possible in this province!
Style without pretensions - serious results with a sense of humour - practicality whilst thinking outside the norm. Jonathon and his brother didn’t take the work of their father and rest on it; they picked up the ball and ran with it. Beautiful work inside beautiful nature. Bravo!
Hey Kirsten.........I am an architecture student and I really wanna say that you are doing a great job and please don't stop doing this....... You videos mean a lot!
As a roofer I would strongly suggest making the next cube type homes with atleast some kind of slope to the roof to allow for run off, I have seen too many issues with flat roofs. Great video
I was thinking the exact same. Especially with a glass roof. The weight will be distributed to the bottom corners of the slope if you're in a snowy area and rain will obviously run off. Cleaning Is going to be easier too just hoist the hose to the top part and watch the debris fall off
Oh wow I just got that visual as the glass becomes opaque with successive amounts of snow, ice, melting, freezing and values of light. A natural kaleidoscope! Niiiiiiiiice! :)
I love it!!!! Thank you for making wonderful videos and sharing them. This helps those who watch you, create their own space and have variety of ideas to continue this tiny homes 🏡 movement!! I just Love this place!! I want my child to enjoy nature just like these kids do too! Amazing!
I love Jonathon! He seems so happy, enthusiastic and fun. Definitely a kid at heart if he still sleeps in that little hideaway loft bed in the big house. Also, your daughter has a great concept for design all ready. Makes me curious to see what she will do/be when she grows up. I wonder how big of an impression your job has on all of your children!?! I mean, I wonder if it will determine if they get jobs that have something to do with housing or buildings or RUclips or even something they're passionate about. Sorry for going off in this direction. I just wonder about totally random things. I love this video as all your other videos. Thank you!
Love this! The wonderful grand tour and family history is so heart warming. The brother's innovation reminds me so much of my first husband and his brothers, always creating and building. Such a beautiful life!

And the great thing about cedar is that when it starts losing its beautiful smell all you have to do is get some sandpaper and sand it a little and it comes right back. That goes for cedar closets, trunks or entire houses!
The chicken house could have 4 bunk beds for kids, to function as a kids' tiny house. Or two bunk beds and a tiny wet-bathroom with sink, toilet and shower. Though you could replace the/one lower bunk bed with storage for clothes, food, a chest fridge/freezer and an alcohol stove for cooking outside. Honestly, if the chicken coop was taller and a bit bigger (2x2x2m), you could fit a single bed with storage below, a tiny wet-bathroom, a sink and with a slot for a portable stove to stay fixed, a bit more storage near a chest fridge/freezer, and lots of playable/folding tables on the walls to extend the usable workspace, and a clotheshanger rail above the bed, possibly also lots of netting storage on the walls, to give the walls a bit of depth, the inside of the door being a full-size mirror and the wall with the bed being a group of 3 windows with a bevel, and the top and bottom windows opening for ventilation, with a thick black curtain for working as a trombe wall.
I call those 2x2x2m buildings nano-homes. Anything smaller than that would be a nano-camper (where you need no bathroom, no fridge and almost no storage) or a coffin-house. Do youtube "Boeing retiree finds meaning inventing micro homes & high speed trikes" for more details.
