Amazing to listen to a concert I attended more than 40 years ago with ears that had made some development since that time. I was impressed by that concert, but here I can now hear subtle things I did not remarked back 1982 specially the strong interactions between the musicians. The music is still fresh and does not proove the sentence by Frank Zappa: Jazz is not dead, it just smells funny.
@@ebjazz93 I was referring here to the Bill Evans on the saxes who imo just produces frantic noises. Stay safe, be well, and thanks for all those great uploads & Cheers!
@@ronaldunkel2681 I understood. I would not compare both Bills, but I found you very severe in your judgment. I liked his fresh tone and joyful notes, and all in all it 's a very good concert. In my comment to yours, I wondered if the coincidence of name had had an influence on Miles' decision to hire him in 1980, considering that the pianist died the same year. Cheers. Have a good day.
@@ebjazz93 You’ve figured that Miles’s last groups were for me a bit - way out -. Boils down to purely a matter of taste. Good point about Miles decision to hire Bill E with respect to Bill Evans passing. Good talking to you. Cheers!
@@ronaldunkel2681 Miles' latest bands were excellent and the music very listenable. I saw him 3 times in concert in 1988 and 1989 and it was absolutely brilliant. On the other hand, I would not have moved for his free modal jazz in the 60's (after his group with Coltrane) or his free rock in the 70's.

"boring fake jazz rock fusion noodling with wankfest guitar"...its fantastic. I can't believe this hasn't popped up before, I love it
That was sublime… thank you!
7:25 such a tight groove happening
Great footage, this ,must have been a rebroadcast.

32:00 Miles: YOU SHOW NOT PASS
good evening there are editions of md from 81 and beyond that are not very interesting. and here we have what deserves a live album
This is some of the best “jazz” there is… and most musicians who categorize themselves as “jazz” musicians completely disregard this era. What a joke!
I prefer Bill Evans on the piano! Toodeloo’s & Cheers!
He was not available for the tour.
