My Grandpa sang bass in the church choir for years I used to listen to him. He went home about 2 handful years ago. This brought tears to my eyes, thinking of him. Love you Paw Paw! Good tone I like!
I think you will enjoy his version of Shenandoah as well as Ain't No Sunshine and House of the Rising Sun. He is just so, so good! Sunshine will break your heart, Shenandoah will soothe you, and he is just showing of in Rising Sun!!
@@MrsRealistic Geoff has a way of reaching deep down into your soul. I love how he doesn't always show his clones but they are always in the background. He always knows when to show them or not. In every one of his covers he drops a super deep that some say it doesn't belong. He loves to surprise us because he knows his fans expect that. We always get a thrill of the anticipation of when he does it.
This is how i look at these versions of sound of silence.... the original was the warning, disturbs version was the anger of not heeding that warning, and geoffs is the sadness and melancholy that follows that anger. They are all so beautiful, but ya gotta love the geoffquakes 😂💜💜
I love this guy! He has quite a lot of videos he’s done like Peter Hollens, where he sings multiple parts with makeup, so it looks like there are multiple singers. He’s quite cool! 😅😅😅
This is only the fifth time I've heard this. The first three were just Geoff... not reactions. I have to say it's growing on me. My first time through I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I actually didn't care for it. BUT... I know Geoff, so I stuck with it. I'm glad. As with some of his solo stuff, it has to grow on me... and it usually does! I LOVE when he breaks into harmony. And some of his totally unexpected chord magic threw me at first, but now I'm really liking it. Great reaction! Sneak preview.... Geoff's "Ain't no Sunshine" is a REAL improvement over what I thought was a boring and repetitive song by Bill Withers. No spoilers.... just that.... You'll LOVE it!
No sub-harmonics were used in this, it was all chest voice and head voice... 😊 If you li,ed this, may i suggest you check out his rendition of Chris Isaac's Wicked Game...
@@basslowc Maybe, but I'm a bit of a bass singer myself, obviously not to the quality of Geoff, and when I'm properly warmed up, I don't use subs to hit that note and it sounds pretty much the same... so if I can do it, I'm sure our Geoff can too... Maybe we need one of his patrons to ask him....
@@DravenGal, considering what happens to Jim when Slim shows up, I wouldn’t think so. Unless he was somehow predicting his own demise the following year.
@@DennisKovacich Yeek! I didn't think of that! I guess it's a shame Big Jim didn't know Big John! But Big John was a good guy, so they probably wouldn't have done well together. I'm so glad the "Cajun Queen" rescued Big John (in the song "Cajun Queen)! Big Jim would have better off having the "Sixteen Tons" guy and his fists as a friend!💙
Yup, Geoff's voice is like a slow flowing stream of liquid gold. As is David Draiman's. Both Geoff's and Disturbed's versions of Sound of Silence are amazing. Disturbed is a very good band, one of my favorite songs by them is The Light, the music video is very touching, I think you'd love it, I know I'd love watching you react to it. I don't know how deep down the Geoff/VoicePlay rabbit hole you are, but they have a lot of cool and funny stuff, being a Disney fan, I very much enjoy VoicePlay's Disney medleys. Their version of Hall of the Mountain King is very entertaining as well, when they do things, they do them properly. Oh, I almost forgot about Headless Horseman, Monster Mash, Grim Grinning Ghosts, and Ghost Riders In the Sky, four other gems in Geoff's jewelry box.
I’m pretty sure I saw in one of the BTS videos what looked to me like Geoff using a can of got2b glued (it’s the brand I use , I think it’s the best damn hairspray out there)
Probably one of my favorite covers. Not a fan of either Disturbed or Pentatonix on this one. The original came out when I was in college and it will always be my favorite. My favorite cover is the one by Tim Foust and Peter Hollens, which pays a special tribute to S&G. I also enjoy the one by The Hound and the Fox with Adam Chance from Home Free.
It was something mechanical, I think. Geoff releases a karaoke track to his patrons, no vocals, just the musical accompaniment, and it was included on that, so it wasn't him - which is what some reactors thought at first! That sound really rumbled my bones, so as much as I love Geoff's voice, I was pretty sure it wasn't something even he could produce!
Hi! What a different version from this amazing song by Simon&Garfunkel. Geoff has a gift with these vocal cords that God gave him. I liked your explanations again 👏. Since, you've introduced me to several artists, and I'm a grateful person 😊, let me introduce you two artists too. First, the song called "El Perdón-The Forgiveness" by Diana Navarro. The lyrics are in Spanish, that's why I'm sending you the link to the video with subtitles, since it's absolutely neccesary that you and your viewers watch it understanding the lyrics. It has a very intense message but it's worth it, it's a very touching song. And I would also like to recommend an artist called Chris Klafförd and 3 of his songs. I add the links below. As always, they're just suggestions, you know. Geoff really knows how to balance his range. And the piano in this is so lovely. This is one of my favorite versions of this song. 💙

I agree with you, just beautiful.
Where the Original by Simon & Garfinkle reflects a warning...Disturb's version reflects anger. Geoff's version touches on sadness.
So true!

Yeah, I wouldn’t be able to sing along with him if he used subharmonics.
