    Beehive and flechette rounds were used by American tanks in Vietnam, but hey we don't use those anymore either.
    Instead the US now uses cluster munitions, some of which scatter the equivalent of land mines, hand grenades, anti tank rockets, and some of them seek out optimal targets as they fall from the sky.

    From what I've seen and read in the lore the Verpine Shattergun is more likely a Gauss weapon than a Railgun. In the Republic Commando books and it's said that Kal Skirata's shatterguns don't have any muzzle flash or report and makes no noise beyond that of the projectile itself which is impossible for a railgun system that spits a blast of molten metal and sparks as the projectile leaves the barrel. It's also able to fire projects that made of little if any metal, like the tracking powder Omega and Delta squad used to make rounds for tagging and tracking terrorists on Coruscant in the book Triple Zero. Most likely it's a Gauss weapon, a gun that uses powerful magnetic fields to levitate the projectile inside the barrel without it actually touching the inside of the barrel at any point. Besides the expense they are also rare because they are fairly fragile. As Kal said, they don't bounce.

    More advanced concepts should be explored in the new republic era with access to more modern technology. They could start using special kyber particles mixed with the tibana gas producing what would basically be called a dusty plasma in real life. But in this instance the “dust” is a magic space rock that produces energy from nothing. Creating a considerably more powerful blaster bolt. They could incorporate some kind of hyperspace technology into blasters allowing them to enter into hyperspace and gain extreme speed and momentum, programmed to exit hyperspace directly after clearing enemy deflector shields. Same thing could apply to missiles and be even easier to employ. It would just take a cheap hyperdrive unit in that case.

    • @gabrielhenson5751
      @gabrielhenson5751 Месяц назад

      I don't think hyper space will ever be used in munitions because it wouldn't work in the gravity well of a planet, (so on or really close to a planet) and would be made completely null even in deep space via interdiction technology.

  • @aaronbosen6743

    The actual RPG-7 isn't reusable. It's a single use launcher, which was specifically designed to give infantry squads a single relatively cheap and lightweight weapon that could be used against mid armored vehicles or static defenses like APC's artillery pieces, small relatively unarmored buildings ect. While there is a very similar looking reloadable rocket propelled grenade launcher the Soviet Union, and later Russian federation used, the RPG-29, it really hasn't seen widespread adoption primarily because the original RPG-7 is so mechanically simple and inexpensive to manufacture that at one time the Soviet Union was turning them out by the literal millions for a cost of roughly about 15 dollars in materials per unit, and just plain never really adopted a reusable launcher.
    Whereas even the cheapest reusable launchers the Soviets tried to develop cost significantly more, and required a new dedicated rocket design just to use. The RPS-6 is actually more similar in function to a proposed upgrade to the SMAW (shoulder launched multipurpose assault weapon) that would've turned it into a true multi purpose weapon by giving it the capability to fire small laser guided missiles in a low altitude anti aircraft role as well as the unguided rockets and optically it was originally designed for. That upgrade ended up never happening, mostly because the federal government decided they wanted to fund a dedicated longer ranged, heavier payload anti tank weapon configured for a top attack functionality, the Javelin instead.

    First introduction to disruptor weapons was in the N64 game Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. That kind of disruptor weapon is basically a semi-automatic hand blaster version of a Davy Crockett. It's no wonder the Empire banned them.
    Although based on how quickly they disintegrate a target from the Mandalorian, I'm dubious of the 'incredibly painful' part. No matter how the damage is done, the conversion is so quick the target won't have time to feel pain.

    I'll add one a lot of people don't know about. Whether it would be worthy for the list, I have no idea:
    The Caelli-Merced Sentinel IV Heavy Blaster, mostly only available from Socorro (Star Wars d6 Black Sands of Socorro). It has more power and in skilled hands is more accurate than a DL-44. The main reasons it isn't a common sight is the fact that it is mainly available only on Socorro, and that it is a finely tuned weapon that only someone skilled in blasters can use effectively. That said, wearing one can be an indication that the person carrying it knows what they are doing and that they are not someone to be trifled with.
    In that regard, sometimes the best weapons can prevent a fight from beginning.

  • @Serbobiv123
    @Serbobiv123 3 месяца назад +9

    I gotta say, one of the most infuriatingly false bits of lore from Legends is the idea that light sabers would have any trouble with solid projectiles.
    We see in ep. 1 when quigon cuts the blast doors that a lightsaber doesn't just melt or vaporize what it cuts, it annihilates it entirely, otherwide quigon's face would have gotten sandblasted by the backblast of his cut.
    And we see in Mandalorian that when a lightsaber can't cut a physical object it just stops entirely.
    So bullets would either vanish, or bounce off, thus they are no more effective than a blaster.

    • @rabbitknight87

      Some slugthrowers still work well no matter what. Scatterguns work well because a Saber can't block all all the pellets, forcing a jedi to use the force to catch them all, or take hits, which works well to break concentration. Likewise the shatter rifle works well because of its extreme speed, and bowcasters because the quarrels are explosive. None of which rely on the "lightsabers melt bullets into slag" lore.

    • @robertagu5533

      Actually this has been seriously analysized by more then a few scientists an heavy science based channels an enthusiasts. Since it's Plasma based, even said so in universe, it's gotta be in some kinda Containment Field. An it'd have to be polarized an set to specific parameters to give it a saber shape. Or it'd basically be a very slim plasma-blaster flashlight. Which means it'd depend on either the ammo or how many was shot. Basically at close range you'd want to use some kinda flamethrower or radiation gun or some sorta shotgun or scatter gun so you wouldn't have to worry about the saber's ability to deflect the shots

    • @Serbobiv123
      @Serbobiv123 3 месяца назад +1

      @@rabbitknight87 yup, any wide area weapon would work against a lightsaber, be it a shot gun, a sonic gun, or some kind of scatter blaster. I think the shatter rifle would only really work against a garbage wielder who can't use combat precog correctly.

    • @Serbobiv123
      @Serbobiv123 3 месяца назад +1

      @@robertagu5533 nah, those "science" channels are full of crap, they don't actually look at what happens, just what they wish had happened. from what we see in canon (the movies) and lesser canon (the shows) the light saber is a solid weapon that works through annihilation rather than just thermal effects. so yes, a barrage of simultaneous shots or wide-area spray-type weapon would work, but only via saturation, not because of any inherent benefit of the type of projectile.

      @@Serbobiv123 except given characteristics... No... They're really not. Swords ARE a thing in their verse too.. an was for every bit as long as ours on battlefields. Truth is what is theorized is about as reasonable as it can get. Some science "experts" sure, they full of it, but there's several others with known degrees that did some research of they own. An make guesses based off what is currently known bout tech an generally scientific "laws" regarding things like Physics that HAVE TO be goin on to bring something like a Lightsaber out of science fiction an into our reality as a usable thing.
      We're sorta doing it already anyway with things like Rail guns. We just have no way to make them smaller then about what you'd put on a tank or fighter jet/chopper or similar vehicle at its absolutely smallest since rifle an machine gun size is currently impossible. Probably where they got it from in most of the various media.

    So a number of these are not available off the shelf retail? That leaves a good market niche opportunity *if you can set up a automated production line.*
    #10 the Verpin shattergun, #9 the Wookie bowcaster, and #7 the Lightbow all could be in high demand if built in a standardised design at a reasonable cost (for their devastating performance).
    As for #6 the Geonosian sonic blaster, make a version built for common humanoid hands, or a simple ergonomic kit to replace the weapon's furniture for use by non-Geonosians.
    The #5 FC1 Flecette launcher is still very useful as a area affect weapon against multiple troops/targets. It was the indiscriminate use by terrorist that made it unpopular.
    [Apparently, unlike all the others mentioned (except #3), it was actually used against innocent unarmed targets...!¡! Who would do that with hand-held weapons?]
    And as for #3, the Disruptor Rifle, that's a secret production line only for special customers who pay quietly under the table. And it has no logos on it.
    So now you can make _a killing,_ .... so to speak, in the *weapons for the civilian* manufacturing industry.
    A very upright, honest, and _ethical_ line of work that is always in high demand throughout the Galaxy.
    Or you can only outfit your own forces (or species) with these, for that tactical edge.
    But selling guns to everyone _when there's no firearms restrictions,_ is the opposite of *a complicated profession.*

      most of star wars guns came from a uk fire arms expert who specializes in sourcing guns for shows. And so for the original star wars they just modified a few real fire arms and that's basically becomem a tradition

    The jedi probably made the lightsaber rifle in an attempt to make a weapon capable of killing a sarlacc. Which really is futile, given that I don't think there's a single instance of one that didn't die by just existing too long.

    "Flechettes aren't moral" I don't think there is a single weapon used by the militaries of the world, that can be defined as "morally acceptable".
    One of the most common rounds of ammunition on the battlefield today, is the intermediate 5.56x45mm and the Russian 5.45x39mm. These projectiles have literally been dubbed "poison bullets".
    They're designed to not pierce through their targets, but instead jaw and embed themselves. But as if that wasn't enough, they're also designed to fracture inside the targets body and create multiple wounding channels. So they're very good at not immediately killing the target, instead incapacitating them, this means other soldiers will have to take care of them, drawing them into rescue their fallen comrade, opening themselves up to being shot as well.
    The only reason one might consider the intermediate 5.56, and similar calibers, to be "moral" is because they have been the norm on the modern battlefield, ever since Vietnam.
    In many ways I would rather go up against an enemy which is using flechettes, since it's usually a much less accurate and finnicky type of ammunition.

    All this talk about super powerful weapons that shoot super fast projectiles or blasts of energy, and i find it funny that in canon and EU, the most reliable weapon to take down any force user, that bounty hunters and mandalorian swear by as if forged by the dark side itself-
    Is literally just a shotgun.

      There is a bright side. If America is ever invaded, that will be a rude surprise for any invader. Plus most flame throwers are not like the M2 units that were used in the pacific. The M2 was pretty much all napalm-fueled and not gas like modern day models.

Ki-Adi-Mundi could have gotten a can of bugspray and a lighter and called it a flamethrower, it's not more devastating a weapon than the shattergun. Now the DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System the Clone Commandos use? That belongs on this list. Do you need an assault rifle? A grenade launcher? A sniper rifle? Got'cha covered.

    Dude, if you are lookin for "MORALS", war is not the playground for your search. The reason flamethrowers were abandoned are thermobaric weapons (wich serve much better for cleaning enclosed spaces from enemy presence) and progress in handheld granadelaunchers (wich are not constrained in range, ammo capacity and ammo type so draconicaly as flamethrowers.)
    Regarding the problem you have with unchecked organizations, what about the templar order? Knight monks defending voyagers to the holly land and the churches on the whole route. Or what about the medical proffesion chamber? Self-check only ... Of course, the laws, but im pretty sure, if Jedi brakes the law, he or she will be brought in front of the jedi council for sentencing and possibly handed over the repubical justice.
    What would be jedi hunting with lightsaber blaster? What about dark side force users, mostly Sith? Pretty hefty portion of those are so powerfull, they can be seen as weapon of mass destruction.
