You are a genius in understanding and characterizing American pop music of the 60's and 70's. You should be awarded an honorary PhD. for your insights and interpretations.
At the time it was performed this was just another vapid, inane sentiment about a mythical figure "saving" pious Americans. Now it has become standard believe for a large portion of the idiot population.

A powerful song, done so well! A little story behind this song for me: was in prison ministry 29 years, not a very conventional person that I am I would teach the guys many secular songs with spiritual meanings. After a few months we were playing in chapel and my friend, fellow guitar player, who played professionally on the 80s and 90s, who I knew outside of prison...looked at me and said "follow us". They broke out into this song, he probably added a 5-6 minute solo in there....we ended up playing g songs like it for an hour. I came back to the prison a week or so later and every one of the musicians, five if them were not there! They shipped them out somewhere else and wouldn't tell me where!? There was so much life there with those guys. Was never the same! Great song, great cover! Glad no one can ship you out anywhere!

Wow, that's one of the coolest comments I've ever seen! Thanks for sharing that story, it really moved me. I'm glad you recognize the power within this song and lived it too. I will remember this story and from your story, that's how I know this song holds a deep power like no other, which makes my faith even stronger! I've always loved this song, and I had to do one for my faith. It allowed me to use my pedals and make my guitars cry a little! Thanks again for sharing, that was very moving ✌😊🎸

This is a real cool song, I really appreciate listening to something different, is absolutely refreshing to here the name of Jesus so genuinely sang by you in this song, it brings happiness and comfort to my soul. You really did a good job here; I know how much time and effort goes into a production of this magnitude, and you share it so kindly. Thank you so much and please keep bringing up more great material like this. And BTW, that's an amazing 1972 Custom Les Paul. You are very fortunate to own one. Congratulations dreamerjazz352.

Ooh, you really rocked out with this one! And now I know how you plan to tackle Lucy! But I have to wonder what will play the role of the classic sanded casino, its gonna be a hard role to fill seeing as its Lennon's 2nd most iconic guitar!
