I’m a practicing Jew and Jesus is just alright with me too. Thanks 🙏 for the reaction.
Jews for Jesus! Love it!
Yes,Yeshua!
He was, in fact, a Jew.
You should brother, he is a Jew and so are his apostles Isiah 53. Peace+
If you don't have the Son, you don't have the Father.
Introducing Jesus to the secular rock culture/youth of the day was a cool thing. The "hippies" of the counterculture were often popularly referred to as "freaks". Similarly, the kids of the hippie generation of the '60s and '70s who embraced Jesus were called "Jesus Freaks". A film released in 1973 based on the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" that told the Gospel with iconic musical performances became a worldwide phenomenon. Thanks for the reminder on this Christmas eve of the reason for the season. Merry Christmas and God bless you all.
Don’t forget “Godspell “ which was released around the same time.
It's sad that only a few or worse nobody knows about today.
you nailed it I remember all that.
@@lordessducky8494 ... or Hair, which wasn't about religion at all, but it was a GREAT movie and musical (with Beverly DeAngelo [Vacation movies], Treat Williams, Nell Carter and Charlotte Rea [Facts of Life]) !!!
I love that Lex is having the time of her life 😂
A jamming Doobie Brothers song. They have a huge catalog of great songs.
what a positive upbeat tune on christmas eve. merry christmas all and god bless!
god is love.
"Jesus Is Just Alright" was written and recorded by gospel singer Art Reynolds in 1966. The Byrds were the first rock band to cover the song. It's the first track on side two of their 1969 album, Ballad of Easy Rider, released as an adjunct to the seminal 1969 film, Easy Rider. The Doobie Brothers released their version as the second single from their 1972 album Toulouse Street. It cracked the top forty and pretty much became the definitive version of the song.
Mike, do you know who had a great version of this say late 60s. Almost certain some band did.
@@amb6899 Other than The Byrds and The Doobie Brothers, no I don't. The secondhandsongs website lists other covers of the song, mostly from the seventies. The other names on the list that I recognize are Exile and Gladys Knight.
Awesomely great! Thank you Jesus!
Doobie Brothers were a good '70s and early '80s group. They were soulful, Southern rock. Some of their songs are gospel influenced such as this one!
Check out more of their music.
They back it up. Every year no matter what, they do a benefit for childrens hospital.
Great song praising Jesus Christ. "I don't care what they may say..." They aren't ashamed to claim Him as their Lord and Savior. That's cool.
That might be an overly hopeful sentiment. I hope you're right.
@@stevejoshua9536 Gotta have faith.
The Doobie Brothers were about the 5th group to cover this song. The Byrds cover was released as a Single in 1969.
Art Reynolds wrote this in 1965.
The Art Reynolds Singers released this song in 1966. RUclips it!
That baby boy is gonna be born already knowing how to dance. He's already getting practice!
I’ve seen the Doobies Brothers in concert 5 times, every concert was started with this song.
Wow, never heard this live version before! Gotta say, the studio version is pretty immaculate.
This wasn't the studio version
Immaculate conception
@@michaelasay8587 That's EXACTLY the OPPOSITE of what he said !!! He said he HADN'T heard "this live version" before, but then followed that the STUDIO version was immaculate.
I was raised pentecostal, one day when the pastor was out, the band did this song, folks be doing the Flintstone flop! Shaking their Sunday go to meetin buns!
While many turned to drugs, there were some who turned to Jesus. They were called Jesus freaks. Blind Faith did "Presence of the Lord," and even Bob Dylan did some religious songs. This song by the Doobies surprised me then, nevertheless. I am glad they did it, and I'm glad you reviewed it.
Brad & Lex, you'll love their "South City Midnight Lady"!!!
"And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. 8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:7-14. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and to live forever. Read John 3:16-17...
Linus quotes a lot of this passage.
Amen
Amen, Blessed Christmas.
Read all four gospels.
Jesus of Nazareth was born to a virgin in Bethlehem in only half of them. Scholars agree that there was no census that had people visiting ancestral homes and that the lie that Jesus was born in Bethlehem was to tie him to a Hebrew Bible prophecy of a future King of Israel.
@Leonard Shevlin news sources differ on details of every historical event. Even, esp today.
Only Mark doesn't record his birth but acknowledges his life immediately.
John ssys , " Word became flesh." Which refers only to Christs birth.
If two give the place and none contradicts them. It's pretty solid information.
Josephus and Tacitus, Jewish and Roman historians of the era, both write of the existence of Jesus of Nazareth as a real historical individual. They had no reason to support his existence as his life countered many of their beliefs.
What's more, there is consensus among historians that Jesus is a real historical person.
There's no reliable, unbiased, historical source that's denies Jesus' existence that's today.
You can choose to believe his Devinity or not. But Jesus, the man, existed.
That's my best foray into the question.
Hsveca merry Christmas. Peace. For us all
The early era of the Doobie Brothers, was rockin, and they had such a great edge to their sound. This was lost when Michael McDonald joined them. He completely changed their sound, and though it became more refined, it was never the same band. I much preferred the original.
Me too. Tom Johnston is amazing.
Agree! Never understood how it could happen. And Baxter brought MM to the Doobs....?
Classic Jesus Freak Rock. I love this stuff. More Jesus Freak rock and more Doobie brothers please.
LEX, YOU'RE A HOOT! YOU'RE WONDERFUL PERSONALITY AND JOY SHINES THROUGH. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO A GREAT COUPLE.
I always imagined someone saying, "Jesus is great!," and the Doobie brothers are like, "Nah, Jesus is just alright."
Jesus is just. Alright with me.
Lol...Gotta love hippie slang. :) Back then, "alright" actually MEANT all right (all good). And of course, "just" was used in the sense of "nothing but" (e.g. "I am just so happy for you.")
I always took it as, being pleasantly surprised by something, and saying you know what? He’s just alright with me.
Get your Sunday service and rock concert at the same time....awesome!
Classic Doobie Brothers of the 1970s!! This live version sounds like a Doobie Brothers/Chicago concert with the horns in the background. That was back in 2012 or so....what a compilation of hits by both groups!!
Never heard this version ❤ I like it ❤
I can’t get over how great the Doobies sound live, compared to their amazing studio versions
Studio version is better guys... but thanks again for all your doing.. great reactions... Lex is the best at describing what she hears.. Chris Stapleton Fool me again.. will blow you away..I promise..Lex
This is ok.. but the radio version is SO much better.
Lex has never looked more GROOVY. And that's sayin' a lot!
Love this jam
Jesus is in da house! Merry Christmas and a happy new year.
Your reaction was just alright with me! 👍(From an old Jesus Freak!)
Jammin with Jesus. I got my tambourine out for this one! I'ma freak for Jesus!
Always loved this one. Great live, too.
Back when this came out, even non Christian people were amazed by the groove.
I just found y’alls channel this past week. I’m a 58 yr old white chick from New Orleans, LA. I’m so jealous of y’all hearing music for the 1st time. Truly envious. However, LEX you are brilliantly aware of all genres!!!!❤️❤️❤️
I recommend Jesus Freak by DC Talk too. It’s from the biggest selling Christian album ever. This song also went out to the secular crowd. It has rap in it too which is a nice change for the channel. ❤️❤️❤️
It was extremely edgy for its time--especially in the Christian genre! Still love it.
Imagine a crowd of 50k people singing along with that chorus. Imagine how many people that sound carried to that looked up what band etc and found their church? Jesus Revolution. Great movie.
Brad your girl is funky and alright with Jesus god bless her soul!!
What a live performance! 😄💕🔥🎶👍🏻 #sayBABY #Jesusisjustalright
Songs like this and Spirit in the Sky were written as commentary on the Jesus Revolution taking place in the Hippie movement of the late 60's and early 70's. A movie by Lionsgate featuring Kelsey Grammar as Pastor Chuck Smith of Calvary Chapel who was instrumental and at the epicenter of this phenomenon, is coming out in February.
Y'all are a delight! Merry Christmas!
Sweet Jesus!!
Outstanding!
Doobies .....
This is what music is for..
Praising the lord Jesus.
Happy holidays from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Wow what a great song! You guys listen to so many tunes that others don't. I'm glad I found your channel, my new favorite by far!
Jesus is the reason for the season, Merry Christmas everyone!!!
Back in the day when this came out, everybody jam to the song
Halleluja! Can I get an "AMEN"!
Need to play "Jesus just left Chicago" by ZZ Top.
yep, the line in this song goes 'you don't have to worry---because "Takin' Care of Business" is HIS NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' John 3.3, 33-34-
pathetic try on the censorship, youtube; does not work with the LORD. Now try this again.
Listen to the Music is the hit that put them on the map. It’s one of their best songs. A must listen.
Love this song! My son performed this in a musical (he played a priest) with some rocking moves! 😂
Hallelujah guys you have been taken to church , amen 🙏
Each solo, vocal or instrument was standing up and rejoicing they're Lord. You were so right Brad. It is that feel Live
I was a Christian kid and loved the vibe of this song and so glad these groups where singing about Jesus and making it clear we loved Jesus, he was our friend over any man ., great song , and so true and soulful my grandparents even loved this LOL Yes Im southern Baptist , we sing and believe me you will learn southern Baptist cooking in all get togethers and holidays
Praise Jesus Amen!...!!!
Evertime I hear this I picture an old school church I'm the south with everyone singing and doing backflips and shit.😄🤘😎🤘
great song in concert. they still tour.
Brad you haven't been to church lately have you? Lex is getting all up in the mood to go to church to praise God. And you're having flashbacks to the clubs. LOL LOL y'all are too much I love it. Your precious baby is going to come out praising God. Crying out in his name. Breath of fresh air. Merry Christmas you two.
There were a lot of great rock acts in those days that threw some gospel into their sets. My favorites include "People Get Ready" by the Chambers Brothers and the Dick's Picks 8 version of the Grateful Dead doing "Cold Jordan." (Also the We Bid You Goodnight from the same Dick's Picks, if you're interested in the evangelism of the Grateful Dead)
You would love the album version! Tiran Porter is Slammin’ that bass!!
love this song, good feelings
Got tickets for April 2023 in Sydney Australia with my sister's.😃🇭🇲🔥
Many messages are brought through Music, I'm a Musician & Catholic, 🙏
Amen
Wonderful song. I do not know what else to say.
Bomb song🖤
Saw them do this in a high school gym, when they were the opening act for stoneground.
Their greatest song hands down! And Jesus is smiling. 😊
When Lex gives Brad the *_sideways_* look - she's thinking - *_I've no clue to what this man is thinking._*
MERRY CHRIST MASS
Jesus is always all right. Never forget that.
They went from the Choir to the preacher and back.
Man yall need to do .. All In the Family..
Korn and Limp Bizkit..
That is some epic 90z jam....
Love yall Merry Christmas
You might have thought this was going to be a Christmas song, but no. As pointed out below, Jesus and spirituality became "in" for a few years around the time that "Jesus Christ Superstar" became a hit on Broadway and the song "Day By Day" from the show also became a hit. The show "Hair" and the five hit singles that came from it and its bestselling album were all the rage in '68-'69 and paved the way for this. If you really want to "go to church", try "Oh Happy Day" by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, which was a big hit.
Respectfully, "Day by Day" was from the musical , "Godspell", not "Jesus Christ Superstar".
Great jam 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
All the Jesus Freaks were together at School. They invited me in which didn't happen at the Church. Life is still unexpected to find the Dobbie Brother's sing about "JESUS in the 1970's.
What a performance. Doobies.
D.C. Talk were the 90's Jesus Freaks later the singers split some went to Newsboys one kicked off his solo career as Tobey Mac. Rapper was awesome stuff, what a transition from secular to Christian, so much great music.
Great version!! Thanks!!
You keep on rock'in Lex! Lex you keep this channel going. You rock! Tell ur man to start rockin too.
As a teen I went to a old country church in south Mississippi in the 70s in the middle of a swamp . As me and my dad walked in the pastor started speaking so crazy stuff then we realized he had a live snake around his neck and jar of im sure was moonshine then he started spitting the shine out on a lighter to make a huge flame and was jumping around I guess dancing. Then a group of people was chanting had there hands on this large table it started levitating. Dad grabbed me we got the hell out of there. 👹👿✝..Mary Christmas
Have you heard the song "Turn, Turn, Turn". You can open your Bible to the book of Ecclesiastes, and (except for the chorus) it is almost word for word. Thank you for doing this song at Christmas. Have you reacted to "Mary Did You Know?" yet? It makes me cry, good tears, lol.
Interesting that you bring up that song which The Byrds recorded, as they did a version of this song (i.e., Jesus Is Just Alright) years before the Doobie Bros. The Byrds' version has more energy.
Eyes of silver.
Texas lullaby.
Another park another Sunday.
Lex gets a pretty good workout watching videos sometimes. 😃
Atm there's 90 comments. Every one of them are positive. Nice. I don't believe I've EVER seen that before, in any RUclips reaction post, music or film. YAY for the hippy vibe!
YES LORD###!!!!
In one my playlist ❤🎸🎶
You need to do DC Talks rap version of this song.
That's the version I grew up on. Toby Mac and the Mac is back no slack, on a DC track that's jacked.
You can almost read Brad's thoughts but he's got the sway
ALABAMA!!! Hey 👋 yall..!!! I'm from Tuscaloosa....
Music of the 60' and 70's was the best to me, so many voices together in music instead of singers being dubbed because only one person had the capability to sing.
What a jammin version.
Allright with me...Excellent reaction
This is an awesome song. You should watch some live versions and maybe Lex won't think it's so funny.
You should react to DC Talks version of this too.
One of the most famous bands in history. I saw them twice. They were always smoking the doobie's get it? Always high and so was I....
I grew up on the DC Talk version of this song.
Growing up listenin to the "Doobies" this was a great concert. I had the best seats. Wolf Trap is a great place to see concerts in the DC, MD, VA area. You Tube has the whole live show if you wanna ck it out! I Think you'll like it. But I think you'll have to watch it on your own because of the block issue. But it's worth watchin! (Free) LOL
Live Doobie Brothers is the way to go! (In my opinion) They do have live songs to react to if your interested.
Can't wait for the "big day!" I almost busted a gut waiting for the gender reveal!! Much love you guys!
Great performance. Anyone know when and where this was recorded?
ALBUM VERSON 1000 TIMES BETTER
Yes👍🏻
Hi you guys been a while since I've said a word Great band even better song but anyway merry Xmas too you and your family's ✌️
let’s go to church…You will love “Save the Planet” The Edgar Winter Group from their White Trash album…do the studio version
The Byrds released their own version several years earlier which inspired the Doobies, but they really made it their own with the "Jesus is my friend" section.
This is the original by the The Art Reynolds Singers ruclips.net/video/pVe7kknLFNE/видео.html
Art Reynolds re-interpreted the song on his 2003 "Crossing Generations" album ruclips.net/video/kYY6uWqmXZ0/видео.html
