Thank you! Moneyball is a great film, one of my favorite baseball movies, and even though the Mets’ budget has zero correlation with the film, the moment felt right!
This was a Roy Hobbs moment for Pete. Honestly, Hollywood couldn't have come up with a better scenario. But I've always thought that baseball is a mirror of real life and our society. There's bad times and good times; there's stumbling and there's redemption; there's dark days, but there's always tomorrow. Pete needed this moment. The Mets needed this moment. The fans needed this moment.
Couldn’t agree more! I thought of a quote from For Love of the Game, “Push the sun back up into the sky and give us one more day of summer” by Vin Scully. Pete gave us that, now let’s enjoy playoff baseball!
Thier energy from Citi Field was electrifying. I remember sending a small prayer right before the home run. All Mets fans from around the world collectively gave Goku Pete the energy to launch that spirit bomb 💪
I said a prayer right before the first pitch to Lindor. I asked the Lord to bless these guys’ bats and let the spirit be with them. He answered our prayers.
I watched this live on TV with my 1 month old son. It was one of the most inspirational moments I've ever witnessed on television and I remember 20 years ago feeling the same way after Ortiz walked off against the Yankees in the ALCS to later on win the next 3 games, win the world series and break the curse of the Bambino. I put this moment right next to that. As a life long Yankee fan but born in Queens. It's time I drop the pinstripes and root for the home team.

The greatest HR in our team's history is the one Mike Piazza launched against the Braves during the first baseball game in New York after 9/11. Nothing's ever topping that one. But. The *second* greatest HR in Mets history was the one Francisco Lindor hit on Monday to send us here after the season we'd had up to then.
