- Ensuring that a driver is properly fit to a race car is crucial for comfort, control and most importantly, safety. There are many different factors to address during a fitting most of which revolve around driver controls (Pedals, Steering, Shifter, Parachute, etc.)
Just like control locations, it is very important to consider aspects such as seat belt mounting locations and head support profiles. A one size fits all approach may not allow safety equipment to perform as designed if it does not fit the driver properly.
Part 5 of our Door Slammer Build Series takes you through the entire process of a custom fitting. This video is extremely detailed and features some humor as well.

"What size fucking shoe is that a 17" Tims attitude cracks me the hell up. And still has easy to follow intructional points thru out
He’s so dry
I love it
I'm so close to finishing mine.. I have the single rail with just a 572 720r... the best chassis on the market thanks tim..
love this series, really cool that your putting this info out there, longtime fan
I love these videos. Very informative and quite enlightening. Super thanks.
The seat belt fit up was worth everything. Awesome info
One of the most critical but disregarded aspects of a build.
Totally inspirational videos. Utmost respect to how professional and no bullshit this guy is. Beautiful cars built the right way by knowledgeable professionals. Subscribed
Nice video man,i am up to that stage with my chaasis now and that info on the 7 point belts and head padding really helped thankyou.
Outstanding information I feel much safer knowing what I need for the best fit in my race car.
Thanks
Awesome video. I am curious why they don't have the Driver with their Helmet, in a Driving Suit and the shoes he will wear. Those look like Hiking Boots and I would think it would skew things a bit
Very interesting. Thank you.
You should sell chassis for Ferrari 240 SWB, the originals sell for millions.
great video
What is the normal height of the steering column off the floor? The video shows you measuring and saying that's good, :)
Also what is the normal angle of the column too
did the guy ever wreck it? also how much for the chassis tutorial cd on its own?
nice
Driver mockup shouldn't have been done without him suited up. You look to have a good deal of adjustment for certain things, but when you have your visor down, HANS on and gloves on, things fit different and the driver may be in for a big surprise how much less visibility or room to reach belted up with all his gear on.
"You can leave it in the trailer, I dont care" 🤣🤣🤣
10:30 to 10:40 ......lol .....I'm not going in there...lol
