Hi belinda great video ,,Thanks
why we didn't add xanthan gum here ?
Hi Jabby, we didn't need it - it formed a gel without needing a gum. We only add gums to foaming products where they don't thicken themselves - it makes it easy when this step is not needed. Unless you need to stabilise particles or actives, you can skip it! This differs to emulsions, where we use the gum as a 'back up' to ensure good stability. Hope this helps, happy formulating!
Hi everyone at IPCS,
thank you Belinda and everyone involved in making this great and informative videos.
I have a inquiry on the blend of surfactants you showed us in the video. In the data sheet document of Iselux Ultra Mild is stated that the raw material is stable and has a shelf life of 1 year from date of manufacture, after that should be re-tested to extend the shelf life. For quite some time it is bothering me what impact has a shelf life of the raw material on the shelf life of the finished product. I understand that in a finished product shelf life is determinated by stability testing and that you should have competence in set the testing and interpret the results. But I wonder if it is real to expect to get a shelf life of 3 years for a product that has a raw material with shelf life of 1 year. And also can we as formulators expect a different results in stability testing if we use a raw material 1 month from manufacture date or 11 months from manufacture date with shelf life of 1 year.
I apologize if I complicated the question too much but I hope you understand it. :)
Thank you all and kind regards,
Ana
A raw material's shelf life is different to the finished product's shelf life. You don't want to use a material that is near the end of its expiry, but otherwise, a material that has a 1 year shelf life that is part of a finished product could achieve 3 years when formulated correctly. If you get a material that arrives to you near its expiry, send it back! Otherwise normal stability tests are over 2 batches of product using different batches of raw materials to test this exact concept. Thank you for a great video! Is hydroxysultaine milder than betaine? I can’t find a comparison online.

Thank you so much Belinda, been wanting to see more videos on surfactant formulations.
How do I incorporate Polyquat 10 with SCI? I find that my product often separates, but I've seen products using SCI and Polyquat 10 together. Could I substitute poly quat 10 with polyquaternium 78? will it perform the same as poly10?

Well can an adult use the baby shampoo?
Or it would damage the hair ?
An adult can definitely use baby shampoo, its very mild 😊 It may not clean strong enough if you have long hair, as baby hair is much finer.
@@theinstituteofpersonalcare6401
But I heard that if you use baby shampoo the hair will be fuzzy
Is there a recommended percentage for each of the surfactants when creating a shampoo?
Yes but it depends on how much cleansing/performance you want, who the product is for, what part of the body (or hair) etc - its not a 'one size fits all' type of answer. You can learn this with us, email for information: info@personalcarescience.com.au or visit personalcarescience.com.au

Hi Belinda, thank you so much for posting this video. I was wondering if any of the amphoteric surfactant come in solid form that I can incorporate into a solid bar shampoo. thank you
Thank you for watching! They normally come in a liquid form, which is why we use non-ionic materials in their place. Please also watch our video: Shampoo bar: ruclips.net/video/xvsVSHA6pg4/видео.html or study our Bar workshops: personalcarescience.com.au/Workshops/Barworkshops-2112/
Thank you for a detailed explanation .
Among the natural anionic surfactant explained in the video , could u please share the gentlest surfactant of the list . And if it is not too to ask , can we have the anionic surfactants in video ordered from high to low based on their gentleness .
Can we formulate a shampoo recipe with glycosides ( for milder formulation) as the secondary surfactants and potassium cocoate ( being anionic) as a primary surfactant as an effort to bring syndent and soap together .
Thanks
