@5:00 my grandfather jose gomez from cuba painted the window sign (dance lessons)on the door and all the signs outside for the dance studio.he painted in reverse. so it looks correct outside . it was done a few years before , the movie of course...
Excellent. Another well-done attention to detail and probably very difficult to find a lot of these in New York. The effort is appreciated and the quality is top-notch. Well done.
Awesome. My old neighborhood. I remember when this movie came out my friends and I thought it was so cool because those are some of the places we used to hangout at . Spent many a night at the White Castle and 2001 Space Odyssey.
That's what I love about SNF. Very few movies shot in Brooklyn back then. My go-to White Castle was on Humboldt Street... closed in 2014. Any memories from 2001 Space Odyssey?
Special thanks for whomsoever who made this video. I am q big Star Wars and Saturday Night Fever fan. I watch Saturday Night Fever on my computer on the dvd and great job for showing all the places where this movie was filmed. I am now a Paramount Pictures insider as a result of this movie and playing some of the songs from this movie on my guitar its too bad that Lenny's Pizza closed. I hope someone reopens it at that location at 1969 86th street soon. Please someone reopen that pizza joint.
Congratulations, period, you did a great job. Everything done with great care and attention. Here in Brazil, everyone liked Saturday Night fever. Thanks again for your work.
Thee BEST i have ever seen on a Then and Now. How in gods name did you get all the interior shots...This was well done..Thank You for your effort...from the UK.
Great work! Really! I admire the dedication to get the shots right. And how the hell did you get into these houses and buildings? 🙂#fantastischefilmlocaties
This was dynamite!! You did a fantastic job with this video!!! I also love how a lot of the older buildings are still there. The apartments, the homes, some awnings even. Tony’s home is still beautiful!
Just discovered this. EXCELLENT! Bravo! 👏👏👏👏I was living in New York when this movie was being filmed. I went to acting school with Donna Pescow who played Annette. Loved NYC in the 70s!
I love this and thank you for posting . I’m a country girl and I’ve never been anywhere in New York . It was so awesome to watch today’s locations with the movies. Hopefully one day I can see in person . Great job!!🎉❤
Wonderful filming and matching up!!! Some of the locations looked the same with new paint on the walls, some of the streets, sad to see the disco gone but hey its all about the money every day in this world. Great idea someone wrote below about the Pizza place should have been bought by John T. and kept it going. I'm sure it was still a busy pizza eating spot. I heard the owner got really old and sold it finally and i believe he had other locations also. Thanks for doing this.
That's a shame Lenny's pizzeria closed for good some one should buy it and relaunch it as a shrine to saturday night fever...... Such a cool location n main feature in Saturday night fever or one better maybe john Travolta could buy this movie landmark and keep it going as Tony's pizzeria for all to enjoy ...... 🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕😆🍕
It's a shame family didn't keep the pizzeria going such a iconic landmark of Brooklyn...... And in Saturday night fever....I'm sure bayridge Brooklyn misses this pizzeria.....@@TYT695
One of the best Then and Now filming locations i have seen of this movie. Great job. Awesome film. I miss the '70s alot. The New York from Saturday Night Fever is the New York I remember from my childhood.
no words..... excellent, not sure how the old locations were found in the ever changing world. i think must be some years of observation...great work and all the best..
Once again you've nailed it with the filming locations just like you did with bullitt did the new York thing but didn't venture into Brooklyn I must try harder next time I visit
Thank you for sharing each location the kfc is still there today which was located near the white Castle restaurant where Tony n his gang went to eat 👍😀
The KFC closed in 2021...Now it's an empty store and parking lot...The "Pizza Uno" on the ground floor small office building that replaced the White Castle closed in 2022...Most of the White Castles in the NYC boroughs have closed over the last 10-15 years...
How on earth do you manage, not only to identify the precise camera locations, but also to pan your shots at exactly the speed of the originals? Two quick questions, if I may. Where are the two-storey brownstones shown at 8:09, and is the interior of the Manero family home a set that (somehow) still exists?
Those buildings at 8:09 are right around the corner from the hardware store on 74th, off of 5th Avenue, Brooklyn. Manero house is real and they really shot inside. I got views of the inside in 2017 when the house was up for sale. If you check out my NYCinFilm website, I go into further details.
@@gluecement Many thanks for your swift response to my questions. I wonder whether the houses seen at 8:09 are now desirable and expensive properties? (They looked quite attractive even in this 1970s movie). I'd presumed the Manero house interior was a set, as I couldn't see how you were able to gain access, so thanks too for the explanation!
It is possible you may already know this but a biopic about the Bee Gees is due to be made. Their involvement with Saturday Night Fever and it’s soundtrack album is bound to be mentioned, it brought them back into the public eye. It is possible some of these locations may appear in this new film. Saturday Night Fever helped put New York on the map.
You shall almost certainly know this but John Travolta has recently appeared in a Capital One commercial. He is dressed as Santa and recreating the role of Tony Manero. Donna Pescoe, who had played Annette also appears in this commercial. I think this commercial was filmed in the same locations where the original scenes were filmed, but you would know better than me about that. It has had some very positive feedback comments on line.
Went to see This Movie in The Summer of 1977 At The Drive in Montreal Quebec Canada🍁 - With My Parents 😊 I Was 9 years old! 😲🤔 lol And It was Awesomeness!! 👊✊😆 🎃🍁🎃
Thanks for your reply. I first heard about John Travolta playing Tony Manero/ Santa because it was mentioned in last weeks issue of The National Enquirer. I had been thinking of buying it but I then realised it is no longer available. However John is mentioned in the most recent issue. They have a report about his Scientology beliefs.
Just watched the commercial. Very entertaining, but definitely not shot in New York. It looks like it was actually done on a Hollywood back lot. But Donna Pescow looks great.
I put a couple of comments on line about John Travolta playing Santa four weeks ago. I have just discovered some kind soul has given one of these comments the thumbs up sign! For those interested type Capital One/ Quicksilver Holiday Night Fever Commercial 2024 Featuring John Travolta.
Interesting how Tony Manero has a poster of Rocky on his bedroom wall. Sylvester Stallone directed the sequel to Saturday Night Fever, 1983s Staying Alive, or did he just write the screenplay?
Not that it matters but the White Castle was on the other side of the street. Pizzeria Uno is below street level on the other side. Welcome To Brooklyn....~Brooklyn Red
The 2001 odyssey became a gay friendly nightclub called spectrum. Was exactly the same interior with the original dance floor till it closed in 2005. Was demolished a bit later and is a Chinese restaurant. The neighborhood is now a large Chinese district. Much of Bensonhurst is attracting Chinese immigrants.
Maaan i would love to se Bud spencer Terence hill movie locasions from Miami "Who Finds a Friend Finds a Treasure" "Miami Supercops" "go for it" "Odds and Evens" "Crime Busters"
lol!! I work in construction doing small jobs in nyc.. one day this chinese contractor calls me to bensonhurst and says he does 300 jobs a year. lots of money. he has had my driving all through these neighborhoods the past 7 years. it never dawned on me once this movie was filmed there even though i seen it a thousand times.. every single location in this clip looks like Beijing today lol!!
Great work on locations !! However, I never understood what this movie was about. This guy who works at a hardware store with ZERO ambition in his life except buying clothes and disco dancing and chasing young girls. His friends are just as pathetic as he is. His family is completely dysfunctional. WTF is the problem with the oldest guy leaving the church ?? Who TF cares ?? Then the whole part of a guy jumping off the bridge and the girl having multiple sex partners in one night just to get back at this loser. IDK how this film made $5.
It was a coming of age story basically told during the time of the 1970s disco era in NYC. Tony was basically a late teen, who through the course of the movie, learns that he can’t stay around his friends all his life. When his friend accidentally falls off the bridge he comes to the realization that life is not all about hanging out at clubs and dancing. That there are consequences in life and it’s time for him to become an adult and take life more seriously.

Still one of my all-time favorite films, and I knew Bya Ridge and 2001, the nightclub way back then!

It's the people who owned and worked there that made it great ... rarely does such a place survive "new ownership"
Unfortunately the new business is a Korean chicken franchise. No more pizza.
Great idea.
One of the best Then and Now filming locations i have seen of this movie. Great job. Awesome film. I miss the '70s alot. The New York from Saturday Night Fever is the New York I remember from my childhood.

That was outstanding! How did you convince those people to let you photograph the inside of their houses?
RIP All the lovely mom and pop shops and businesses who’ve died and have been replaced with corporate trash.
Would love to see filming locations of Taxi Driver

Excelente el trabajo!
Rumor has it, a few of the dance scenes were also filmed at a catering hall on 77th Street, and New Utrecht Ave, which had a large lit dance floor ,
very impressive

Sorry I did of course mean 2023. Mobiles don’t always type the right word.😮
The kfc joint is still there down the block as it can be seen in Saturday night fever when the gang enter the white cstle 😅
Yes, the KFC helped confirm I found the correct White Castle.
@@gluecement also forgot about lennys pizza such a shame they decided to close after so many years in business.....🍕😕

yeah it's now a Korean chicken place.

No, he did, indeed, direct it.
Great work must have taken a lot of effort to reach every spot.Too bad the disco club is now a chinese restaurant was epic
