    I know Iowa is pretty boring but Ledges State Park in Madrid, Iowa and Lake Ahquabi State Park in Indianola, Iowa are two of my favorite places to camp. Beautiful sites to see and the nicest people you will ever meet!

      Rachael Reynolds If there's one thing we've learned, it's that every state can surprise you. We thought Arizona was just going to be hot barren desert, then we got to Flagstaff and our whole perception of the place changed. It's lush and mountainous. Even the Grand Canyon is surrounded by pine forest. Looking at pictures of those Iowa places, it looks awesome! Totally not what I think of when I think of Iowa. Thanks for pointing it out!

    You 2 are funny. Hey we paid for a place in Indiana, Lieber park in August 2016 & was invaded by Jurassic Horseflys, I kid you not. It was our Maiden Voyage in our new Cargo Van. We threw a mattress on the floor, grabbed our camping gear & a cooler. Had a great spot under a tree not far from the bath house. Oh boy, we were so glad we had the van for protection & could drive away. That was at dinner time. After the sun went down so did the horseflys. My husband was using the Vans owners manual as a fly swatter. Lol now, not then, wished I filmed it.

    If you ever go to Newfoundland, I hear the thing to do there is to camp in quarries. The whole island is fondly called "The Rock" since there's not a lot of soil. When they ran the Transcanada highway across it they had to dig quarries every so often to get the rock to build the road. These are now used like Walmart parking lots in the States.

    • @roadesontheroad
      @roadesontheroad  9 лет назад

      FlashGeiger Weird you mention Newfoundland. We actually talked quite a bit about Newfoundland a couple weeks ago when we were trying think of interesting Eastern North America trips. I didn't know about the quarries. That's a really good tip to know! Thanks!

    Shared it. You guys should hit Texas and go to the Sam Houston National Forrest. Lone Star Hiking Trail. Free camping. 96 mile single line trail. Plenty of water after our floods.

    • @roadesontheroad
      @roadesontheroad  9 лет назад +1

      State Parkers Thank you! That sounds really awesome. What kind of landscape are we talking about on that trail? I don't know whether to feel bad for you guys about the flooding or happy you got some rain.

    • @StateParkers
      @StateParkers 9 лет назад

      Roades On The Road landscape is pretty flat so it's not that taxing on the joints, but heat can be a factor. Bring plenty of water and a good sawyer filter system. Saved our asses when we ran out of water at 15 miles in.

    I live in the U.P. of Michigan. We have had a lot less misquotes in the last 2 years. Mid may through July is usually the worst. Then on top of it you get biting flies. lol I'll once again be hammock camping at Pictured Rocks this winter. Almost everyone including the Park Rangers think that I'm crazy. It's cold and a fun challenge. I had a wolf walk past my hammock last February. It just went into the woods. Come join me on my adventure! lol Bob

      +uptrail71 Oh man, that sounds like an adventure! Hope you have done good insulation for that hammock! And we would like to go back to the UP one of these days. Wouldn't be bad having a local expert!

      Roades On The Road i have done it in the past, not sure how it works in the states, i used to look for the national magazines and online news feeds, and contact thoes to find out what they want, used to submit 4 to 5 articles according to their monthly theme and might get one published. Its hard to get started but after the first one it gets much easier.

      if you are trying the all free thing there are some nice places but anything along superior is going to be a chance of a rough night! but the awesome days out way the bad! for sure!! Indian River is a great place to stay lots of camping and close to the bridge for all the fun around that area and fall really is a great time to go to the upper!!! color in the trees like you have never seen before!! but its not a very big window if you call any hotel or look online they have color watches for the best fall color lol no bs!

    YOU misleading people is the problem I have with the title..5 places...Boise is a very nice place and has a number of great camping places..Your Whinning is misleading..Tetons Area ?? For Gods Sake ..no good camping WTF do you expect?? A Welcome Wagon Greeting...do your homework

    • @roadesontheroad
      @roadesontheroad  9 лет назад

      It's apparent this isn't going anywhere. Boise is a nice place. No argument. Free camping is what the whole thrust of our channel though. And while there are plenty camping options in the area, the stipulation of free narrows that considerably. As far as the Tetons, that area also landed on our top 5 best video. Which is why I suggested you check that video out. They're companion videos. It's like you watched Kill Bill Vol 2, and complained it didn't make sense even though you never saw Vol 1. But I'm going to go enjoy my Saturday. Have a good one yourself.

  • @clarktferrill
    @clarktferrill 9 лет назад

    So.oooo THIS video is pointless and another waste of time..You two are so clever...if I could find this type of info elsewhere I should do that,Right?

    • @roadesontheroad
      @roadesontheroad  9 лет назад +1

      This is the SAME video you commented on before. Talk about your wastes of time. We specifically mention other places to get more information because those resources are valuable. No one source is going to be the be-all end-all and we certainly don't claim to be. If you expect every youtube video to open the doors to Shangri-la and change your life forever, you're going to live a life of disappointment. Other people enjoy the videos. If you don't, that's fine. But why waste the time that seems so precious to you whining on a youtube comment section?

    • @seancook2331
      @seancook2331 8 лет назад

      Because their objective is to make you respond to them, they have nothing better to do, they spend every day just making asinine comments on random videos, it's the only way for a sad empty human being to function on youtube. they lack the ability or skills to make their own videos and feel jealous and upset that others have a fun enriching life.
