Definitely not a destination camp. But there are times on the road when you need to be somewhere specific for an attraction, or work, or to visit friends and family when you have to take what you can get. Especially around big cities, a safe RV parking lot camp is the best you can do.
There are A-holes throughout the world. It's unfortunate you happened to come across one. I applaud how you handled the situation, well done sir. Happy Trails!
That's crazy. I would hope nobody from my state would ever treat someone from another state that way. We have lots of tourists from all over the world come to Wyoming. For Wyoming it's a great thing. Big part of our state income is from tourists. Unfortunately the last couple of years people have gone crazy. But I've witnessed things like this before. Live in California for 9 months. Northern California is beautiful and the people were very nice there.
My Husband and I seasonal camp and I worked at a campground for 3 years. You cannot pick your neighbors and there is a lot of crazy out there. If I saw California plates on your rig I would say ‘God Bless You’!
I am sorry you went through that and hope that doesn't happen to you again. I have had those same words said to me a few times in my life but on a different level. I am from Southern California and I thought for sure…the abusive guy was from California. I’ve found many people here can’t/ won’t mind their own business. Sad to see it elsewhere.
Born and raised and still living in CA. People are so narrow minded these days. Like every person in ca is exactly the same. I’m so over it. So much hate in this world for no reason. How can you spend so much energy hating people you don’t even know. I’m glad the park took care of it.
I moved from California to Nevada. Before my neighbors met me, they were scared to death I would have the "California attitude" and liberal leanings. When they finally figured me out, they embraced me. Unfortunately, a lot of Californians leave the state and bring their politics with them. To me, that's the main reason Californians are mistreated. (The guy at the RV park doing all the yelling was a douche....the park did the right thing)
@Sal Spencer I don't think he's saying that. I think he's saying that politics and religion are like people's genitalia - everybody has them, they're all a bit different, but you don't have to display them wherever you go. Maybe that's why, 100 years ago, barber shops, general stores, and other places of business used to have signs that said no discussion of politics or religion was allowed. My politics are not something i think i need to display to the world.
@Sal Spencer NO, it's just that the liberal political crap is what ruined the state they are moving from. Example liberals from California move to Texas because California has been turned into a shithole by those liberals. Now they want to ruin Texas with the same liberal BS that they ruined California with. It's true you just can't fix stupid.
@Sal Spencer With people like the Nevada Nemesis, just having a Cali license plate is enough. Lots of people in Oregon are the same way, especially along the coast. Personally, I think there's a bit of insecurity and maybe even some inferiority complex on display with such folks. A similar dynamic can be found between Wisconsin and Illinois residents, probably other places as well. And then there's the very real issue of gentrification, but that's another subject.
@Sal Spencer I'm not talking about crime. I am talking about the homelessness, the filth, the regulations, the taxes, the defund the cops, the fact California cares more about illegals than the people that actually work and pay taxes so the State can give it away to the illegals. And let's not forget the recent new fade of smash and grab crimes sweeping the State all because the morons decided to make any theft of $950 or below a misdemeanor. The list goes on and on, but I won't trouble you. I lived in Californian for over 50 years and watched firsthand as the liberal BS drove that State into the sewer.
A hater is gonna hate. That's all you can say. Sorry that happened. We visited California from Texas last year and felt nothing but welcomed. So many beautiful places in California.
I know this is past your experience but I just found your channel. You handled the problem very professional, I’ll be following you and I’m looking forward to more of your adventures!!!
With the huge increase of RV'ers this year and projected for next, you can pretty much expect a big increase in this type of A hole. If the guy was genuinely concerned, a simple call to the front desk could have taken care any issues without any conflict. I would have probably whipped his ass.
“One bad apple”, “one bad experience, “one exception to the norm”… ,etc. We repeatedly say and hear such expressions, knowing that they optimistically gloss over the not-that-rare and potentially life-changing interactions with unpleasant/hostile people. Even if the interaction ends “well”, as this particular one did, it always has an oversized and indelible impact on one’s psyche for good reasons. Deep down, we all know that it could turn tragically in a split second. That’s why this video, and so many others involving unsolicited encounters with aggressive strangers, get so many views. Mike and Sarah will likely remember this little encounter forever, even if they might have met nine other pleasant people the same day. The one out of 10 or 100 people you meet can suddenly and absolutely ruin your day, all the other nice people notwithstanding. The unfortunate fact is that you will never meet someone who will give you a billion dollars or make you immortal, but he/she can maim or kill you or someone you love in a second. Sorry for the somber reminder of something every person knows intuitively, especially in our current “society”. I personally don’t see the attraction in paying good money to park next to random strangers, each of whom is on guard for everybody else to some extent. The constant comings, goings, and noises would be at least distracting. Even if nothing happens, it's a very un-relaxing environment to be in. I would actually pay money (if I had to) to avoid such a scene.
People dont stay there to Camp in the traditional sense of camping but to stay there to enjoy the amenities nearby in a home away from home, or they are travelling thru as permanent RVrs and need to stay awhile for various reasons.
We have always had great times camping but for only one bad experience. We had just gotten our spot and were unloading our bikes and walking within our own site when the neighbor started to yell over and point out what firepit and table and even tree was theirs. I am not sure if he had problems with previous campers or what happened.. I expressed that we were aware of where our fireplace and table were. We mentioned it to one of the workers at the camp to let them know the situation. Also they were gone all day ad only returned in the evening back to their site. Just a mystery.
We were told by a neighbor camper in Las Vegas, "Oh California plates your going to be hated around here" He said Californians are selling their expensive homes and buying up homes in Las Vegas and driving up the prices and locals can't afford to buy homes. First time I ever heard this.
Many people all over the country have the same complaints - they feel they can no longer afford to buy in their hometown, and they blame it on folks from CA driving demand, and higher home prices.
This is December 24, just watched the video and all I can say is you and your wife are amazing nice people, so sorry about the creepy guy that you met, was nice to see how the park took care of the problem. Merry Christmas and have a great new year.
Kudos to you and the Park . We were camping in N.H. a couple years ago . there was a bunch of rowdy kids drinking and Making a lot of noise after 10 {quiet hours} The Ranger {Bob } went over and said "Close this down , go to bed . This is your only warning , The next visit will be made by the State Police , and you will not like it ! " Within 5 min . quiet as a mouse . Everyone thanked the Ranger the next morning . The Best parks are the ones that have good monitoring .of bad behavior .
We are from California also and we have stayed in that campground many times in the early 90s and it’s nice to know that they’ve not changed in anyway the great customer service. Great times.
When we drove to Alaska, I was expecting fantastic camping on our journey. Nope. Almost all along the Alaska Highway were parking lots. So disappointed but I loved, loved, loved Alaska and so we’ll be doing it again.
You handled this well. Personally, as an American who lives abroad by choice I likely would not have even engaged with him past "you come into Nevada to waste our water" because that on its face is confrontational and aggressive. If somebody is so ill-mannered they can´t begin with a "good-day Sir" or "hello" with a hint of a smile best they stay away from me. I dislike rude people. If somebody is so ignorant that they think that initial question will result in a pleasant exchange of ideas and result in a good outcome for all involved they are not very intelligent and I don´t want to interact with them. I have little time for rude people it´s usually a precursor for the worse to come based on my 67 years of experience.
Wow, at first I was gonna pass through this video but as you went on and explain the situation in a cool, calm matter and then the outcome of that individual that was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
When hubby retired, we sold our home in CA and began a very long road trip across the U.S. A big concern I had was 'state hate' as we traveled with license plates from CA. Fortunately, we have not experienced 'state hate' (yet?). We did have several curious people who, upon noticing our CA plates, struck up a conversation with us asking, 'what the heck is up with your state?' I'm sure we'll run into it at some point; we are 9 months in.
I didn’t realize how bad state hate was until my daughter flew to El Paso TX to be with me while in the hospital then to drive me back home three hours away going east on I 10 in a rent car with California license plates. We are both generational Texans but because of the rental car CA plates drivers would cut us off, try to run us off the road, and drive by shooting us the middle finger, and this was the day before Christmas Eve. So much for peace, goodwill, and national solidarity. No matter where we’re all from hate in any form is a downward spiral and nothing good comes from it.
@@tammyslaughter9587 That's horrible. Some people are plain ignorant. Like those who shove 'tolerance' into our faces and down our throats, yet they are the least tolerant of all. Follow up to my post: we continued our travels through the U.S. and did not experience an OVERT state hate. We did have a truck tailgate us very closely for a mile or two and then when he passed us, he blew the horn. I didn't look up, but maybe he was flashing me the finger. We moved to Wisconsin and just recently got our new license plates on our vehicles....it was a relief b/c we were getting lots of stares here but nothing I would say was anger, just more curiosity.
So sorry and I live in Nevada, I hope you have better luck next time, I have Travel Trailer too we went to Lake Mead and kinda had a run-in as well, a gal told use we couldn't set up our canopy, we thanked her and looked up the Rules we were handed to see ( there was no mention) and a Camp Host inside of 3 minutes was on us like White on Rice and said the same thing- I said your wife told me and he looked shocked said he had no wife, I said then your Girlfriend and again same shocked look and asked me who said that so I looked around saw her and pointed out and I also said " Sorry if I broke a rule, its not listed so can you make sure on your brochure and also, anyone who DOESN'T work here, if they find a problem with another Camper, report it to the Desk or another Camp Host" He agreed and apologized for the lack of information and for other tenants bothering us. We cut our day short and went home, there are other beautiful campsites in Nevada and we just put a deposit for one at Willow Beach on the Arizona side. Enjoy yourselves!
Thanks! We have been visiting Nevada for decades, and have never had an interaction like this, before this guy. We enjoy Nevada, and the people there immensely!
Have been to many RV parks and at everyone of them the people were all gracious and polite. When we went on an first excursion in our first RV a man and his wife came over and refreshed our memories on how to operate our Rig. It wasn’t long before we were showing other newbies a few things we had learned.😂 We’ve had many good times in ours over the years!

Beautiful campgrounds, tons of space, great neighbors and less than half what RV parks charge. Great 50a service, full water and septic. And did I mention beautiful? 😍
My sentiments exactly. I'll take boondocking over an RV park any day. Fortunately, my Alaska license plates don't draw any hostility or negative comments.

Glad to hear the park handled it in a professional manner! There is no place for rude people like that in an RV resorts.
Kudos to the park! That's how you keep your good clients.
As a "inactive" Sailplane pilot, we have been considering the Minden area to get checked out once again. Thanks for the info. (I flew the "mountain wave" lift there to 21,200 ft at the PASCO wave camp many years back).
That’s not camping, that’s a parking lot.
That was exactly my thought
So what? It's not my thing, but people live doing this. They hang with others around bonfires, drink, meet new people, and have fun. Stay in your lane
@@rediron44 It's called an opinion like yours......stay in your lane.....
@@rediron44 asphalt bonfires in the walmart parking lot.Sounds cozy. jk
Lol
That many rigs that close together on blacktop is anyone's version of hell on Earth. Oh, God.
Sad that you had to deal with someone like that, but awesome that the park management handled it so well.
I live in Victoria BC Canada EH!
It's wall to wall tourist from March to October.
But we treat them like GOOOOOLD!
They are everywhere.
@tommyodonovan3883 Also from Victoria. When I was in school, we had to take a hospitality course. I still have my certificate. Cheers!
BIG respect for handling this guy the way you folks did, I'm not sure I would have been so calm.
I often think maybe people that speak like that guy are running short on certain meds that need to be taken and life goes on. Thank you for sharing, be safe and happy camping. Happy New Year
Ohhhh you handled that guy SO WELL 👍. I have a very reactive , aggressive personality when attacked. I NEVER EVER attack first…I’m extremely accommodating and pleasant ANY OTHER TIME! BUT! I would have come back at him like a PIT BULL! I just can’t handle people who treat other people badly. BTW..I’m 66 years old, female and grandmother 😅. BE KIND PEOPLE. ❤️🌺
I worked at an RV village and always came across some bad apples. You're all there to have a good time. Get of off the road stop with the rage...relax enjoy your vacation and the scenery wherever you may be
Great customer service is NOT dead! How wonderful of them to handle the situation, keep you informed and invite you to come back again. Yep, they do deserve a shout-out. As to the male 'Karen': may you find peace.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing! Sorry you had to run into that guy!
Thanks for watching!
Misery loves company. Don’t let them get to you!
Well done all! Nice to hear a great park report!!
I have lived in Minden for the last 29 years, and retired from CVI after 17 years.. it’s a Great Resort 🤠
I love how you and the rv park handled this situation. Props to you for giving them a shout out. I love to support good business owners.
Thanks!
I moved from California to Nevada. Before my neighbors met me, they were scared to death I would have the "California attitude" and liberal leanings.
When they finally figured me out, they embraced me. Unfortunately, a lot of Californians leave the state and bring their politics with them. To me, that's
the main reason Californians are mistreated. (The guy at the RV park doing all the yelling was a douche....the park did the right thing)
Not clear are Nevadans intolerant of beliefs or ideas they don't share?
That's so true all sorts you come across and it only takes one.... To go outer their way to make people miserable.
That’s why I’m no longer able to camp next to people like that
A hater is gonna hate. That's all you can say. Sorry that happened. We visited California from Texas last year and felt nothing but welcomed. So many beautiful places in California.
Wow. You handled that very well. I know that wouldn’t have ended that was for me.
That boy there is a troublemaker. You made a good decision sliding out and letting the park know what happened. Happy travels
I know this is past your experience but I just found your channel. You handled the problem very professional, I’ll be following you and I’m looking forward to more of your adventures!!!
Thank you so much!
With the huge increase of RV'ers this year and projected for next, you can pretty much expect a big increase in this type of A hole. If the guy was genuinely concerned, a simple call to the front desk could have taken care any issues without any conflict. I would have probably whipped his ass.
For sure! make sure you follow him off the property don't do it there.
Why would you want to stay there anyway. It's way too crowded. No privacy. Might as well camp in Walmart parking lot. That's not camping. SMH
amen!
People dont stay there to Camp in the traditional sense of camping but to stay there to enjoy the amenities nearby in a home away from home, or they are travelling thru as permanent RVrs and need to stay awhile for various reasons.
I thought so too... horrible looking.. imagine being in a desert and the deciding parking on black asphalt would be relaxing. WTF?
Why don’t you mind your own damn business. Not all Wal marts allow you to “camp out “ . This is their channel and they can go anywhere they want to .
With a sewer hose right next to their picnic table... No thank you.
We were told by a neighbor camper in Las Vegas, "Oh California plates your going to be hated around here"
He said Californians are selling their expensive homes and buying up homes in Las Vegas and driving up the prices and locals can't afford to buy homes.
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you as well!
What a jerk. I’ll make sure to stay there knowing they are on top of things as you mentioned
We are from California also and we have stayed in that campground many times in the early 90s and it’s nice to know that they’ve not changed in anyway the great customer service. Great times.
There's always hateful people no matter where u go
Nice of you to report how the park responded to your issue. That's how it should be everywhere. So much easier to be nice than a jerk!
My problem is that most RV Campsites look more like Costco Parking Lots.
People are unbalanced. and like you say, these folks are everywhere, LOL. We travel the USA by motorcycle and have seen the same type of behavior...
It's sad really, that they feel they can't enjoy themselves like others are trying to do!
My general response to people like this is "GFY", and I leave it at that...by engaging them, you're just enabling them...
enable them? oh yea!!!! then watch them roll around the ground in vast amounts of pain!!!
your a better man then me, i would have takin out his dentures.
Another person advocating violence....you´re worse than the subject of this video.
Wow, at first I was gonna pass through this video but as you went on and explain the situation in a cool, calm matter and then the outcome of that individual that was awesome. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching! 👏🏼
“Generalizing” = discrimination unfortunately there are a few bad mixed within the good 😊
I hope your remaining travels will be pleasant ✌️
The Park took out the Trash.
Good to take the time to report the issue to the Park.
Excellent Park response.
You can use a spritzer with water and vinegar. It minimizes definite water waste habits, but also cleans rv surfaces really well.
When hubby retired, we sold our home in CA and began a very long road trip across the U.S.
A big concern I had was 'state hate' as we traveled with license plates from CA.
Fortunately, we have not experienced 'state hate' (yet?). We did have several curious people who, upon noticing our CA plates, struck up a conversation with us asking, 'what the heck is up with your state?'
I'm sure we'll run into it at some point; we are 9 months in.
@@catbee1452 I’m so glad it is better for you in Wisconsin and you have a little bit more road peace! Blessings to you and all of your travels!!
Camping now days is more crowded than the burbs.
The only way to stop a Bully is to stand against them. They usually will backdown when you call them out on their BS.
There are Karen's everywhere, glad it turned out well. Be safe and Merry Christmas
Awesome response by the park management! I would not have did as good as you two did with that dude!

Now , not ALL people from Nevada are like that either over ONE BAD SEED . They come from EVERYWHERE .

Honestly you couldn’t pay me to stay in an RV park. Super tight spaces, either everything is concrete and boiling hit in the summer or icy in the winter. Lousy power that will fry components anytime, worse WiFi that isn’t even worth connecting to, and entitled a$$holes like this abound.
Try Corp of Engineers campgrounds, they’re awesome. Beautiful campgrounds, tons of space, great neighbors and less than half what RV parks charge. Great 50a service, full water and septic. And did I mention beautiful? 😍
and likely few and far in between especially if you have to be in a specific area for a specific time...
My sentiments exactly. I'll take boondocking over an RV park any day. Fortunately, my Alaska license plates don't draw any hostility or negative comments.
If you really want to get under the skin of the harasser, you could simply ask him this question; "Do I owe you any money or anything at all?" then turn your back on him and walk away.
I would've said "I paid for that water".
You're not God, you're not my Commanding Officer, and you don't sign my paychecks. Who the fuck are you!
Well done sir,. Your restraint was more than should be expected.

That's exactly why I never saw the appeal of this type of "camping". It's basically just like living in a mobile home park.
My hats off to you & your wife on how you managed the situation.
