The actual MLW engine equivalent for Canada was the RS-18, the RS-10 being an RS-3 in a RS_18 hood.
We have an RS-11 at the York-Durham Heritage railway at Uxbridge Ontario but it has been rebuilt with Canadian Dominion Engineering made 251 engine and Canadian General Electric . generators and traction motors so is essentially an RS-18 in a RS-11 hood. probably from the time it was on the Central Vermont and rebuilt at Canadian National's Pointe St. Charles shops in Montreal.

I remember seeing those wonderful notch nosed RS11s smoking it up on the Long Island RR which was actually part of the Pennsy at the time.It was a great thrill as a kid to be track side and watch them go growling past me.

As a student engineer for Penn Central NJ Div. I ran a lot of these RS11's. You couldn't kill them, always worked. The only thing I didn't like was the long hood forward operation.

Some engineers preferred long hood forward operation because it gave them more protection in the event of a grade crossing accident. However it did limit visibility (much like a steam locomotive did) especially when performing switching operation. That's why many older road switchers had their short noses chopped and were converted to running short hood forward during rebuilding.

@@ironhorsehistorian9871 Chicago central & Illinois Railroad. As central Illinois Railroad is already taken by an existing real railroad.

Pretty sure the Morristown and Erie stopped using the RS11 a long time ago. I don't know what became of it, but I've never seen it on their property.

The RS-11 was good, but so was the GP-9; I ran both on Guilford.
