Doing a real test comparison on sound pollution is great. Those who are hard of hearing will struggle to hear the TV, phone, or conversation in a room with a regular fan on and will need to be hot and turn it off. The Dyson will allow them to keep cool and hear more clearly than with a typical fan. They should have these for seniors.
Glad I found this video before investing in a new filter. Bought two for my 1250 sq ft home in December. I can get more use out of it before having to make that purchase. Thank you! 💰💰💰saved

Buying my first Dyson fan and this video helped me feel a lot better about knowing what I'm getting for the price. I wasn't aware it had that automatic safety feature when it falls! Super interesting. Thank you!
Since we bega running this Dyson in the bedroom, we can sleep better - no blocked nose, and snoring, and there isn't the fur-like dust under the bed anymore.
@@TechSteve bascially how im running mine now that covid has calmed a bit. Though i wish i had some filters so the heater could work. As it doesnt w.o the filter :( been rainy out there in the west coast lately. But it sure moves air for when im puffing indoors in this cold rain
Steve, Thanks so much. I learned a lot and appreciate how concise and succinct you were. You explain things very clearly and simply and that was nice, also. I found it disconcerting and off-putting that you never looked at us but I was looked just off to the side at something else. I would rather you be looking at us rather than just acting like you were looking at us. Anyway, well done and thank you very much again. FYI, oscillate is pronounced AH-sih-late. There is no “k” sound in it. Oh, BTW, I *loved* the touches of having the little green plant and the incandescent light in the corner. That was excellent.
Steve need your opinion: Should I purchase this dyson or dyson pure cool link air purifier and fan? I only need it to cool as I’m in Miami. I like the look of this dyson better since it’s thinner but not sure in the cool link is a better product. Would appreciate some input. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your experience. Do you use yours as an air purifier 24 hrs a day? I can't find any info about fan speed and the air filtration or whether it's safe to run like an air purifier all night. Just wondering if you know since you have had it a while.
I didn’t know this vid existed before my new order dp04... May return it for this one which I was looking for on the site (it didn’t exist before now it appeared. Lol. Strange.) Can you add vid w customer service bc Dyson is not answering calls chat txt email My e-mail confirmation alluded to refurbished which I didn’t order...strange?
Had mine for 24 hours . It went bang. Loss of heat on one side. Luckily I get a replacement. Hoping the replacement is good otherwise I'll be asking for a refund
Thank a lot mate this was really helpful, I do have a question though about the purifier. How exactly does the purifier works because my wife has sinus and very irritating to her. I don’t know if it’s an air quality or what but she’s been experiencing it for quite a while now and I was wondering if dyson HP01 would do any good in this condition!?
Question, just bought one. Will the fan only oscillate back and fourth when the heat is above a certain temp? Seems like below 63° it will not oscillate
The HP01 is great, but as a mom, the HP02 model served me well with the essential remote control with phone app function. Check out my review of the HP02 model on my channel :)
Placing your iphone like that will pick up wind buffeting at the mic port. The mic needs a dead kitten or some other wind diffuser so you are picking up the actual sound of the fan and it's blade turbulence.
@@TechSteve But it's not. You would be picking up the sound you get when you try to record video outside on a windy day. The popping, booming sound of the wind hitting the mic diaphragm. A person would hear this sound only when putting their ear right up to the airflow. The dyson has a more laminar flow which would probably reduce this occurrence and the airflow might be focused enough to be largely passing over your iphone and not into it the mic. In any case, it wouldn't be a type of sound someone would hear while going about their day in the room. Thanks for the review!
The green light that shows the air is purified hardly ever comes on. It’s only a couple of months old. Does that mean the room is too big to be purified? It’s about 350 square feet.
Your dB test doesn't take into consideration air flow. Maybe the cheapo fan throws more air at 100% power than the Dyson. Thanks for the review though.
Can you please explain to me how it "cools" the air? Has Dyson somehow found a way around the laws of thermodynamics? No disrespect intended but this seems like a marketing video. Fans DO NOT cool air.

I bought one of these and after about 4 months use it developed a high pitched whining noise (rather irritating). Since it was under a 2 year warranty, I had it returned to Dyson and after some hassle, Dyson sent me a replacement, which I’ve been using now for about 3 months and it too has developed the same high pitched whining noise problem. Buying my first Dyson fan and this video helped me feel a lot better about knowing what I'm getting for the price. I wasn't aware it had that automatic safety feature when it falls! Super interesting. Thank you!
The main reason I bought mine is that it has the best safety rating for what is effectively a space heater.

Are you still using it?
@@TechSteve yea but it definitely needs a multi pack of filters from Amazon if running it 12-16 hrs a day still works heat n air etc

Steve need your opinion:
Should I purchase this dyson or dyson pure cool link air purifier and fan?
I only need it to cool as I’m in Miami. I like the look of this dyson better since it’s thinner but not sure in the cool link is a better product.
Would appreciate some input.
Thank you!
The pure has a app and some auto settings. I would do that one if it works in your budget
They’re both the same price at target $399. But I’ll go with cool link.

Thank you for the great review. How does it do for dust? My house is really close to a well traveled road and I get a lot of dust...hate it!
You really can’t tell what it’s picking up
What speed # u recommend for the heater were u don’t get to much air proportions when high but high enough to keep ur room nice and warm?
I normally run mine on 2-3 but you have to play with the settings for your room.
Hey Steve since u have both of those, have u compared da fan and the heat output strength?
No, i just set it and forget it.
I really want to get one of these for college, but the price tag is hefty!
You can find a refurbished one on ebay
Which one would you make purchase Am09 or this one ? Thanks
I would go for the hp01, it helps clean the air

Can I use this for the summer if the room is hot for cooling room....
Depends it good for a nice breeze but it’s not an ac

In you’re last video on the AM09 you said it would cool the room down about 5 degrees. Do you this the HP02 would have that same breeze effect?
Yes, cooler but not an ac

Question, just bought one. Will the fan only oscillate back and fourth when the heat is above a certain temp? Seems like below 63° it will not oscillate
It should move no matter what temp
Can you change the filter
Yes

@techsteve can you use a smart outlet to turn off on and off?
No, once unplugged you have to turn back on with the power button or remote.
@@TechSteve that sucks i thought so i tried it and didn't work, why does it not work with a smart switch?
The built in safety mode☹️
does this have a sensor hatch to clean when replacing the filter?
I don't think so
Placing your iphone like that will pick up wind buffeting at the mic port. The mic needs a dead kitten or some other wind diffuser so you are picking up the actual sound of the fan and it's blade turbulence.
Thanks, I wanted the wind to be part of the video. It’s just an example of the actual noise.

What a great intro
Lol

I noticed that mine doesn’t turn off automatically when the desired temperature is reached. Is that normal? There should be an “auto mode.”
How do you like the fan so far ?
we cannot run the machine continuously during the day like a regular air purifier ?
I leave mine on 24-7 and the fan is part of the purifier intake
My ac broke, I know this is not a ac unit but will the fan at least give me a cool breeze in my room? My room be like 80 degrees
I would buy another ac
Hi, just bought a dyson pure hot +cool. Is there anyway to lower the cool temperature? It says 78°.
Nope it’s not an AC
The green light that shows the air is purified hardly ever comes on. It’s only a couple of months old. Does that mean the room is too big to be purified? It’s about 350 square feet.
I haven’t seen a green light on this model
You found the loudest fan you could. A $20 fan can be quieter.
It’s a recording
Your dB test doesn't take into consideration air flow. Maybe the cheapo fan throws more air at 100% power than the Dyson. Thanks for the review though.
Also he keeps the motor and air intake below the tabletop
So there sounds are not used in the collaborations, not fare !
*can this replace your AC*
No
So, the filter cost $67?
You can get non Dyson brand as low as $15
How do you use it JUST as a air purifier...no heat or cooling ???
You can’t the fan flow moves through the filter
Hi Steve,
Is the HP01 as quiet as the AM09?
Can I record RUclips videos without the noise being picked up?
Thank you!!
The sound level sounds the same to me. I use crumble pop software to help with background noise. $100 buck
How do you connect to app? It doesn’t let me
You have to buy a model that supports apps
Can you rinse the filter every few months?
You can’t get it wet, you can use air in a can.
Only me?? even i turn off my hp01 but it keep workin🤔🤔
Is this not the HP00 ?? I bought it Yesterday
How do you like it ?
Does the Hp04 us UV?
