@@ModernCastle sorry for the delayed response, love it, just purchased a second HP04 further to additional TP04... Australian Bushfires have me fully committed thanks to the live data - they work!
Best comparison of Dyson purifiers. They were so confusing till I watched your video. Highly recommended for Dyson to place this on their website & not confuse buyers. Simple explanation to complex juggernaut.
This video clarified and helped me pinpoint the air purifier I need. Thank you for making this video easy to understand all the different air purifiers from Dyson!
You can tell which model number it is on this page www.dyson.com/air-treatment/air-purifiers Aesthetically, it's almost impossible to tell. But every product page should have the model number somewhere on it.
It’s winter... I have central air in my apartment.. so I don’t really need heat or cool. I just want something that regulates humidity - my skin feels really dry in my studio apartment in NYC. Which one do I need? 🙂 thanks for a great video!
None of these are humidity regulators. Dyson does have a new humidifier, the PH01 - amzn.to/36UrnnP - though we haven't yet tested it. Otherwise, you may just want a humidifier and a purifier. Here's the full list of purifiers we've tested - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/
@@ModernCastle that dyson one is a little big. I'm in a 700sf studio. Just looking for something that would stop dry skin etc.. Not sure whether that's a purifier or a humidifier?? Will happily buy through your amazon link if you can recommend me something :)
@@JohnBr0 Yeah, agreed. It's a huge unit. It sounds like you just need a standard humidifier (not an air purifier). We haven't tested very many humidifiers, but we've tested a ton of Levoit air purifiers and been really impressed with their quality for the money. Take a look here - amzn.to/2IWi2Uc I think just about any humidifier in the $40 to $80 range will be more than sufficient for your home.
I just want to mention that i bought a tp04 2 weeks ago and there is annoying motor whine that i have been experiencing. Doing some research online, many others have reported this issue...dyson needs to fix this or redesign the whole appliance.
That's interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience. We haven't experienced that yet with our TP04, but we'll be on the lookout. Have you taken it into a Dyson repair shop to see if they are able to fix it?
@@ModernCastle i have informed dyson about it. They are very friendly and quick to reply and do admit that the motor whine is present. Mentioned that their engineers have tried using caulking or some sort of weatherstripping to reduce the noise. I still have 15 days to return mine to bestbuy but quite dissapointed that a 500 usd appliance is not perfect. I think you will eventually hear the whine yourself. Leave the fan on in your office at level 2 or 3. You will eventually hear an intermittent squeal that sounds like ball bearings are whack...my unit has a build date of april 2019.
@@petercho4939 Thanks for the extra information. It really is helpful. If you do decide to return it you might consider the Rabbit Air MinusA2. You can see our review here - moderncastle.com/rabbit-air-minusa2-review/ It performed a little better than the TP04, while still having all the great smart features and usability that makes the Pure Cool great.
@hail2030 I would say they are equivalent. But first, I should clarify, I have only tested the Dyson TP04 and TP02. That said, the TP04 seems to be built on the exact same purification technology as the DP04, so I would expect them to be more or less than same. In our tests the TP04 reduced PM2.5 and PM10 to 0.2. In our tests the Rabbit Air MinusA2 reduced PM2.5 and PM10 to 0.1. MinusA2 was slightly better, but in my view, they are effectively the same. Both MinusA2 and DP04 have the same smart features, so the same there. As far as the design goes, I think it's a personal choice. For my money, I would probably get the DP04. Costs less, still looks pretty cool, has all the same usability features, and performance is basically identical. Lastly, a few final disclosures: Dyson nor Rabbit Air sponsors me or Modern Castle. Modern Castle purchased the Dyson TP04 we tested. Rabbit Air did give us a free MinusA2 that we tested. Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
@hail2030 Shame to hear yours whistles as well. -Though I didn't find customer service as great. I wanted to know if they had a newer version with the noise fixed. But they were intent on asking me loads of questions of their own, without answering mine. I don't want to jump through all the hoops just to get a replacement that also has a high pitched 80db noise the whole time.
TP02 would be perfectly fine. It's air flow per minute is nearly the same as the 04. I'd save the money and get the TP02, here's the link - amzn.to/2ZJK4I0 I would suggest you go ahead and buy extra filters. Many places seem to be going out of stock quickly. Another RUclips commentor in your region said that their HEPA filters went black almost immediately due to the smoke. You can find replacement filters here - amzn.to/35HuYX4
@@GoodcoStudios It would help, but carbon filters are more for smells and VOCs. Not to say that there isn't a smell due to the smoke...but the quantity of particulates generated by the wildfire is such that the carbon filters are going to have very little impact on that level of smell. As a result, I think the TP02 is the better choice.
DP04 - amzn.to/2OwQC4g It's small enough to be on a table, so you can put it up higher to keep it out of their reach. Though in terms of purification power, any of these is great for babies and small children (and frankly people of all sizes).
great review. Kinda surprised the tower versions are so low to the ground. For a living room it feels like I’d need to put them on a riser/box to be able to blow over the backs of sofas. If I’m going to do that, maybe the tower versions aren’t as necessary and the DP would be ok? Also surprised the TP04 has lower air flow than DP04 and TP02. I guess limitations due to the additional filtering. Does the Tower form factor do better for distribution with height to help ‘feel’ more air vs absolute air flow measurement?
I would say the purification power gained via more air flow at a higher or lower point is relatively unimportant. It really is more of an aesthetic choice than a more functional difference. Now, in terms of air flow actually going through the unit due to the motor power, that is going to play a much better factor...so in that respect the DP04 can handle more than the TP04 in terms of room size. Now, if "feeling the air" is an important component to you, then yes, in that case the TP04 is a nice choice because it does have a wider "cone" of air that blows in your direction (if that makes sense).
Modern Castle thanks - makes complete sense. for the living room, some sense of feeling the air is important. the TP04 does seem a little short - we’re used to old pedestal fans so they’d blow over the tops of our sofas. that’s why we were thinking the dp04 and put it on a table. but a broader/taller airstream sounds good.
I'm looking for a bladeless fan with air purifier to help cool my room. In regards to the fan power, is the TP02/TP04 more powerful or reach a farther distance than the DP04 or are they similar?
They are all fairly similar. Here's their air flow: TP04 - 361 liters / sec TP02 - 410 liters / sec DP04 - 419 liters / sec All have high air flow. It really is more of an aesthetic choice than a performance choice.
@@ModernCastle thanks for the reply! Would you say that the air from the fan on TP models reach a farther distance then the DP models or are they about the same?
I'd go with the DP04, unless you both 1) have a small bedroom and 2) are on a tight budget. The coverage on the DP04 is just so much greater. Plus, you get smart control and the carbon filter (in addition to HEPA).
@@ModernCastle Actually just watched this video through googling "Dyson HP04 vs DP04". Dyson black friday both are on sale ;) Thanks for this review I chose HP04 in the end. One thing I couldn't find from this vid was the actual product size comparison. I wanted to to see if they would fit in the limited space of my bedroom. Immediately crossed TP04 from the list after seeing how big it is in your vid LOL. But yeh if you could show all these products in real life environment I think it's a big and important aspects as furnitures. Cheers & Happy Turkey day.
@@icantwait We have a size comparison here - moderncastle.com/dyson-air-purifier-review/ But to save you time the DP04 and HP04 are basically the same size and footprint. The TP04 is the only really big tall one.
@@ModernCastle Yeh the specs have size too. But I meant the actual size in a room like you did with the TP04 in the vid - I didn't realize it was that big.
@@icantwait Ah...yeah, that's a good point. Thank you for that suggestion. I'll make a point to show products in a normal room, next to people, etc. for a better scale in the future.
For the HP04, I would love to know the baseline PM 2.5 and 10 results compared to the post 1 hour. I am trying to decide what to purchase for my basement.
For the air quality testing, what order did you do the testing? Can't really say one reduced more % particulates if the baseline was different. Looks like you tested the TP04 when the room was most dirty and the TP02 after when the room was already less dirty when the TP04 cleaned up
There was no order. We tested these over a series of many weeks and months. I agree, don't use the percentage reduction to make your judgement on which is best for your home. We include that more as a directional indicator of performance, but in our view, the most important metric is how low a purifier is able to get in terms of PM2.5 and PM10.
This was the best review video, concise and all the information from a consumer perspective. Do all the dyson purifiers have a humidifier as well. I live in Boston and was looking for one product - that would heat, humidify and cool ( provide white noise in the nights as I live right by the main street)
Thanks very much! I'm glad to hear it was helpful. Only 1 Dyson air purifier also has a humidifier. The PH01 - amzn.to/3orCJqm I am unaware of any product that heats, humidifies, and cools. Certainly, no Dyson does all that.
If i get Tp04 , and dont want the cooling feature ,just want it to purify and circulate the air , specially in the winter, will it be a good choice? Thank you for your great review !
When Dyson says that it "cools" they mean it's a fan. But it's that fan that drives the air flow for the purifier. So you will always need the fan on at some level in order to purify air. However, you can change the direction through the purifier, that way it won't blow on you or out into the room. You can blow it onto a wall. In any case, yes, it's still a good choice for winter or really any season. You have more control over the air flow than with most other air purifiers.
HP04 has both HEPA filter and carbon filter. HP04 also has 55% stronger airflow, meaning it can cover much larger square footage spaces. HP04 has a smaller footprint, due to the verticle design. HP02 only has HEPA filter, has air flow of 200 liters / second, and uses the wider amplifier. These are the primary differences. See the comparison chart here for more info - moderncastle.com/dyson-air-purifier-review/
I have a lot of cushion in my room where dust settles. Would this help with removing the dust from them? or should I go for the Dyson vacuum cleaner instead? Thank you.
Need help! I bought the HP04 Dyson purifier and discovered that I’m not able to manage the heater from the app. I had no idea prior to buying. I do however understand it is a government regulatory thing that prevents Dyson from allowing consumers to do this. Is there any way I can bypass this? Thanks
So I had an air filter that just broke and was interested in this model. My last one was a little on the loud side (had to turn the tv up a couple of notches). How would you describe the noise level on this model?
Why does your Dyson TP04 not have the small screen on the front, did you have it backwards the whole review? Also you said all the air purifiers except the BP01 can be controller via the app, but the TP01 does not list being able to be controlled via WIFI on the website.
Oof...I guess we did actually have it backwards the whole review. Sorry about that :( It does actually have a screen on the front side. Also, my apologies regarding the TP01. You are correct, it cannot be controlled with the app.
Really love the TP04 but having motor issues on my first unit. The only one Best Buy has in stock is the DP04. I don’t see how the DP04 can purify better with a smaller top for the fan output, or how it’s more powerful. I’d be using this from 150 to 350 square foot rooms. Does it matter which one I should get? Or should I just wait for the TP04 to get back in stock? I’ve heard the DP04 is more for desk use and the TP04 is a better purifier despite them using the same filter. Then hear the DP04 has better output. So, super confusing..
According to Dyson the DP04 does indeed have higher airflow output. The portion on the top isn't really a fan...it's better to think of it as a funnel for air. The motor that is driving that air flow through the funnel in the base of the unit is what's creating all of the power. So don't let the relative size of the fan deceive you. If I were you I'd just get the DP04. In terms of performance, it's basically the same (if not a little better) than the TP04. The only reason I'd wait is if you just don't like the aesthetics of it. In any case, both the TP04 and DP04 could easily handle your square footage. So no issues there.
Modern Castle I saw that the performance on your review was slightly lower for the DP04 with particle only going down to 29 from 359 baseline, whereas the TP04 went down to 14 with 599 particles at baseline. Is that a really big difference ? Also last question - How far does this thing tilt, enough to hit the roof? I like using my other purifier it to disperse the air throughout the room from the top, as it feels nicer to me.
@@Tripleh3lix20 The difference between 29 and 14 particles is negligible in my view. Anything inside of a 50 PPM is incredibly good. Both are an AQI of 0. The tilt isn't that extreme, only maybe 15 degrees, so you cannot angle it to the ceiling.
I live in a cold country (England) so think the HP04 would be best for me. However, the main reason for my purchase is for the purification/allergen removal so would a larger TP04 be a better idea? Help please!
If your primary need is air purification then definitely get the TP04. TP04 has significantly more air flow and costs less money than the HP04. So while the heating functionality is cool, if what you really need is air purification, I'd go with the TP04.
Great video, one thing though... the filters are designed to last one year if run manually for 12 hours a day, every day. Because the device monitors filter life, you can expect it to last closer to 3-4 years with normal usage.
THE BEST REVIEW 🤗Unfortunately? I have seen the video too late, I have already ordered HP04, I thought it was a good investment because it is recommended for 800 square feet (I thought it would cover more space and there would be more air flow🤦🏻♀️) I live in Oregon so the 'heat' option would be useful . At home we suffer from allergies and that’s why I bought a purifier. Do you think I should choose the newer PH04 or TP7A? Some of the ones you mention are no longer available at BestBuy. Thank You for your time!
Don't buy PH04, just stupidly priced. Far better to just get a standalone humidifier if you need one. TP7 is a good pick though, especially if you don't need the heat.
@@ModernCastle oh ok. Maybe the older app had less restrictions and the person was using a version that was regulated later only allowing the remote to control heating? Either way. This was an amazing analysis and really helped clear my understanding of the differences. Thank you! If you have any other feedback regarding this I would love to hear it.
Also, what are your thoughts on the HP06? Is there any fan put there that heats, cools, purifies, and humidifies (Sorry that's not even a word but it felt right) all in one?
@@ommidbavarian5847 HP06 is only really worth the extra money if you actually have a formaldehyde problem in your home. Most homes don't. I don't know of any machine that does all 4 of those things.
@@ommidbavarian5847 It's possible. Could be a different version of the app based on country. At least in the US, there is a single version of the app for all Dyson Link connected devices. And thanks very much. I'm glad to hear the comparison as helpful!
The TP04 or DP04 would be best for cooling due to their high rate of air flow. However, none of these are a replacement for an AC. They are fans. They blow air, but they do not cool air like an AC.
Nice review, but missing the fans that can use 3rd party filters that cost 1/3 as much as Dysons. These are the models that still use more common filters: TP04, DP04, HP04
I'm thinking of buying the HP04 but don't know if it can cool a hot room down effectively, would you say the cooling effect would be as similar to a normal fan?
Yes, exactly. The heater on the HP04 is actually a heater...it adds heat. The cooler is just a fan. It's not going to cool the air, but it will improve air flow and in that way help to keep you cooler.
@@ModernCastle Thank you, lowkey I'm still going to buy this just to test it because if it can at least improve airflow instead of just circulating the same old heat air in the room then I think it's still a win. I know everyone says it helps with allergies but I was wondering if you notice duction of dust like on the surface of a table or any flat surface.
Yes, you can reduce the air flow. But you still need some air flow going through it for the purifier to function. However, you can send it through the back of the unit, so that it won't blow on you.

I’m thinking about getting an HP02 because I’ve found a good offer on it, but I need something that will cool down a room. I know that this is just a fan, but can it compare to a portable A/C in the amount of cool air it produces?
Does the cooling fan could really blow cool air? or does it able to reduce the temperature and make a small room stay cool? There are many cooling fans, but most of them have a water or ice tank to blow the cool air, but Dyson fans don't seem to have a water tank, but why it's a cooling fan? I'm planning to purchase a cooling fan instead of a portable ac, but the word "cooling" really makes me confused.
Thank you! Unfortunately, they are no. You'll need to replace them about once a year or so. Though because Dyson is such a big brand you can find 3rd party filters for fairly reasonable prices, like these - amzn.to/2Nyt68B
i like how their product description that states "cooling" as a function totally misleads buyers into think this device can actually cool down the air =)
I have a 760sf apartment with vaulted ceilings , we are in California where the air quality is, as you know awful. What would you recommend? I’m prepared to get a smaller unit for the bedroom. Thanks for all the info!
@@norcaldata TP04 in your living room or other main living space and a smaller air purifier for your bedroom would be a good setup. amzn.to/2DY5TMj - this air purifier by Levoit would be great for your bedroom.
Hi! For the Dyson HP04, is it possible to fix an angle of oscillation manually ? Like if I wanna lock the oscillation at 67 degrees ? Plus, is it possible to set the oscillation for example between 35 and 86 degrees ? Thanks a lot !
Yes, you can manually place it in a preferred position and then just turn auto oscillation off. You can set a range of oscillation, but it's not quite that precise. It's standard increments...45, 90, 180, etc. Note that you need the app to do so.
They are pretty typical white noise that any fan would create. The louder you set the air flow, the more the noise. Anything below a 5 is fairly ignorable, in my view. Above that, it could be noisier than many prefer.
Based on our tests, no. Thus far, we haven't tested a purifier that does a great job at managing VOCs (at least at that level). For something as extreme as painting your house the best you can really do is ventilation + proper air flow. I'm unaware of any commercial grade purifier that would be well suited to that task.
@@ModernCastle NP, I know how much effort is required for high quality videos, and they're becoming more scarce. The ratings for this video speak for itself. I just like to personally acknowledge my appreciation for the effort when I see it.
@@Kylork You're too kind. I really appreciate your support. My small team and I do put a ton of effort into our videos here. I hope it allows our channel to continue to grow!
Very clear information. Thank you for the video. I have a question about the carbon filter. What sort of smells would this mainly take care of? Would it be helpful for smokers (tobacco, marijuana, ect.)?
Yes, it would be effective for any kind of smoke. Really any type of strong odor or smell...smoke, food, body odor, pets, etc. Carbon neutralizes smells.
Definitely TP04 (in addition to virtually all air purifiers) work by pumping air through a filter. Particulates that were previously floating in the air that you were likely to breath in are now captured within the filter. Less particulates for you to breath in means less irritation to your lungs and allergies.
Hello mate, I’m confused which one should I buy I like the TP04 for being taller but I also Like the HP04 for being able to provide hot air. Which one you advice me to buy please? Thank you
I'd say it really comes down to the size of your home and the importantance of purification. The TP04 has significant higher purification air flow over the HP04. So if you have a larger space (say anything over 1,000 sq. ft.) and/or purification is more important to you then you should go with the TP04. If you have a smaller space and/or the heat function is more important than you should go with the HP04.
Hi, this was helpful, thank you! In theory I have a HP04 and a TP04 coming in the mail today. I’m in Oregon near all the wildfires and the air in our house is quite smoky. We made DIY HEPA filters with box fans and they turned black in a day. Do you have an estimate how long we could expect the filters on these Dyson’s to be effective in this situation? (I’m wondering if I should rush order replacement filters essentially.) Does the app tell you when the filter is maxed out?
The app will tell you when they need to be replaced. Given the wild fire situation and your experience with those other filters turning black within a day I would expect you will need to rapidly replace the Dyson filters also. Given the severity of the situation in Oregon, you might also consider this air purifier - amzn.to/33uwbOV - this purifier has the largest HEPA filter we have tested to date. It is huge and has a ton of air flow. While the Dyson air purifiers are fantastic, my fear is that you need even more air flow and as large a HEPA filter as you can find. It really worries me how fast those other HEPA filters turned black. I live in Phoenix, which doesn't have great air quality, but it's not bad. However, I have never experienced a filter literally turn black. It's quite alarming.
Modern Castle I really appreciate you quick reply, thank you! I will order replacement filters. The unit you linked is out of stock but I will dig around the internet and see if I can track one down. Finding these machines and replacement filters during these fires is like looking for toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic!
@@ellenv.s.4913 Ah, dang it, I didn't see it was out of stock. If you can find it elsewhere that would be great, otherwise as soon as it's back in stock I'd try to buy one. Any air purifier with a good sized HEPA filter and good air flow is going to be a godsend for you right now. If you cannot find this model, I would suggest just finding the largest air flow + largest HEPA filter models available. Other factors like activated carbon, charcoal, anti germ filters, ionizers, etc. are all great under normal circumstances...but what you need more than anything is high volume air flow + large HEPA. We've tested a ton of models over at our website here - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/ - maybe give that a look if you're continuing to search. If you cannot find anything in stock, then just strapping any HEPA filter to the back of a box fan would be better than nothing.
@@ModernCastle I will check out those others you've reviewed, thank you! We paid for "overnight shipping" for more HEPA filters for the box fans and the two Dysons from separate retailers on Friday. Still waiting, everything is just crazy around here. I have been calling all the local stores hoping people have restocked the HEPA filters by now but people buy them all the second they hit the shelves. At this point I'm wondering if we should turn off the box fans because, like I said, they are all black. What do you think? We have our 3 ductless systems on full blast fan and have been shaking out the filters in the front yard. We've taped off all bathroom and kitchen fans, fireplace, windows, etc. and are running the humidifier. Not sure there is much else to do, it's just very worrisome that my small children have been breathing this in for a week :/
@@ellenv.s.4913 I was going to suggest taping and better sealing around doors and windows, so I'm glad to hear you've done that. Taking the filters into the yard to at least knock what dust / particulates out of them that you can is a good start. At least it is something until you can get new filters. If the filters are that black I'm not sure your fans or filters are doing any good by that point. HEPA filters are usually ready to be replaced long LONG before they go black. I just cannot imagine you're getting much performance out of it at that point...but if you can clean some of the dust / dirt out then you may be able to use them at least until your new ones arrive. Hoping they arrive soon for you!
Thanks for a great review- this comes in handy especially if one is to invest in a product that costs this much. As a consumer, I want to make sure I get my money's worth especially in a costly item such as this.
We haven't tested the TP06 yet, but we did put up some initial research thoughts on the specs here - moderncastle.com/dyson-pure-cool-cryptomic-tp06-review/ To sum it up...TP06 is a TP04 that also is able to remove formaldehyde. Air flow, specs, form factor, usability, etc. are all the same otherwise. If your home has high formaldehyde levels, get the TP06. If not, save the money and get a TP04 or DP04.
Centrally located is always ideal, so you have better coverage. But if that's not an option just put it as close to the main sources of new air coming into the room...usually that means a door, window, or air vent.
No. If you have central Heat / AC you should just get a TP04 or DP04. The only exception would be if you find your house has cold spots and want the portability of a space heater.
@@ModernCastle am09 please. Just want to know roughly is the power of what it can achieve the same as the tower. If it's miles off I'd settle with the tower, but if it turns out the smaller duo function am09 is just as good then my mind would be set I think. Thanks
@@londonsfinest3117 I'm having trouble double checking the data...seems that Dyson.com removed the AM07's air flow numbers. But if my notes are correct, air flow on the AM07 is 500 liters / second, while the AM09 is only 190 liters / second. The difference due to the AM07 just being a dedicated fan, as opposed to a heater and a fan. You can read more about the differences here - moderncastle.com/dyson-fan-review/
Amazing review! I’m currently in the market for a HP04 or the latest HP06 I mainly want it for direct heating in a living room so how much heat are these models capable of creating ? Thank you in advance.
According to Dyson.com "With long-range, purified heat projection, it's quick to heat the whole room evenly.¹" Those heating claims are based on a test area of 1236 square feet. As far as "how much" heat that is...that's really impossible to quantity. But I would say it's pretty typical of any high performance space heater.

How do I know if I’m looking at tp04 or tp02? These numbers aren’t mentioned on the dyson website
You can tell which model number it is on this page www.dyson.com/air-treatment/air-purifiers
Aesthetically, it's almost impossible to tell.
But every product page should have the model number somewhere on it.
@@ModernCastle thank you! I guess it only shows on the US site, I’m from UK.
@@zany1616 Ah...yeah, their international sites are very hit or miss.
Take a look here - amzn.to/2IWi2Uc
I think just about any humidifier in the $40 to $80 range will be more than sufficient for your home.
Best review I’ve ever seen! Thank you so much!

You can see our review here - moderncastle.com/rabbit-air-minusa2-review/
It performed a little better than the TP04, while still having all the great smart features and usability that makes the Pure Cool great.
I don't want to jump through all the hoops just to get a replacement that also has a high pitched 80db noise the whole time.
can this replace a fan on really hot days? or is this more for just purifying
It can definitely replace a fan. It's not an AC, but it has more than enough air flow to act as a good fan.
@@ModernCastle ok sold im gettin one on my dayoff thx bro
@@siktunez8910 You're welcome
We just got hit with a bunch of smoke from the wildfires in OR. Will the TP02 be a good option or do I need to go with the 04?
TP02 would be perfectly fine. It's air flow per minute is nearly the same as the 04.
I'd save the money and get the TP02, here's the link - amzn.to/2ZJK4I0
I would suggest you go ahead and buy extra filters. Many places seem to be going out of stock quickly. Another RUclips commentor in your region said that their HEPA filters went black almost immediately due to the smoke.
You can find replacement filters here - amzn.to/35HuYX4
Modern Castle thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! Would the activated carbon filter be of any benefit?
@@GoodcoStudios It would help, but carbon filters are more for smells and VOCs. Not to say that there isn't a smell due to the smoke...but the quantity of particulates generated by the wildfire is such that the carbon filters are going to have very little impact on that level of smell.
As a result, I think the TP02 is the better choice.
Which one is baby friendly? Thanks 🙏
DP04 - amzn.to/2OwQC4g
It's small enough to be on a table, so you can put it up higher to keep it out of their reach. Though in terms of purification power, any of these is great for babies and small children (and frankly people of all sizes).
It was difficult finding a good video about this subject, thank you for the nice video.
You're very welcome!
Great review, thanks. One thing missing is the sound of the fans (for bedroom use)
Thank you!
Yep, you're right. Our future reviews make a point to feature dB and the actual sounds.
great review.
Here's their air flow:
TP04 - 361 liters / sec
TP02 - 410 liters / sec
DP04 - 419 liters / sec
All have high air flow. It really is more of an aesthetic choice than a performance choice.
@@ModernCastle thanks for the reply! Would you say that the air from the fan on TP models reach a farther distance then the DP models or are they about the same?
I have a AM10. Most of the time I will use the fan only. Does the airflow only from the loop section? As I have placed on the end of my dressing table
Yes, that's correct. All Dyson fans and air purifiers use the "loop" for air flow...Dyson calls it their "amplifier".
So is this something you would buy to keep cool like air conditioner wise or is is just a really cool fan?
More like a really cool fan. It's not AC.
Which one is the best to purify a bedroom? Im hesitating between the BP01 and DP04. many thanks :)
I'd go with the DP04, unless you both 1) have a small bedroom and 2) are on a tight budget.
The coverage on the DP04 is just so much greater. Plus, you get smart control and the carbon filter (in addition to HEPA).
Modern Castle thank you so much! Just ordered the DP04!!! Have a great day :)
@@clubmint3590 You're welcome! I hope you like it.
Interesting. So the DP04 (circle model) can actually clean a room faster and larger than the tower based on air flow.
Yes, that is correct.

@@ModernCastle Actually just watched this video through googling "Dyson HP04 vs DP04". Dyson black friday both are on sale ;)
Thanks for this review I chose HP04 in the end. One thing I couldn't find from this vid was the actual product size comparison. Cheers & Happy Turkey day.
@@icantwait We have a size comparison here - moderncastle.com/dyson-air-purifier-review/
But to save you time the DP04 and HP04 are basically the same size and footprint.

What device did you use to monitor the quality of the air.?
Temtop LKC 1000s
Phenomenal review. Keep up the great work!
Thanks, will do!
For the HP04, I would love to know the baseline PM 2.5 and 10 results compared to the post 1 hour. I am trying to decide what to purchase for my basement.
You can see all of our testing data here, including the baseline - moderncastle.com/air-purifiers/
The PH01 - amzn.to/3orCJqm
I am unaware of any product that heats, humidifies, and cools. Certainly, no Dyson does all that.
can this replace a AC unit for a small room?
In most climates, I don't think so. It doesn't create cold air in the same way an AC does, it's merely a fan.
I am lost, what’s the difference between the HP04 and the HP02?
HP04 seems to have a carbon filter in addition to the HEPA filter. So I would assume this is better at purifying air.
Fantastic review and great info. Thank you!

I have a lot of cushion in my room where dust settles. Would this help with removing the dust from them? or should I go for the Dyson vacuum cleaner instead? Thank you.
It would definitely help, but you would be better off getting a vacuum for your cushions first, and then the air purifier.

Need help! I bought the HP04 Dyson purifier and discovered that I’m not able to manage the heater from the app. I had no idea prior to buying. I do however understand it is a government regulatory thing that prevents Dyson from allowing consumers to do this. Is there any way I can bypass this? Thanks
Not sure how to bypass government regulations on a phone...possibly with a VPN and/or jailbroken phone. That's where I would start.

Do you love it?
So I had an air filter that just broke and was interested in this model. My last one was a little on the loud side (had to turn the tv up a couple of notches). How would you describe the noise level on this model?
One of the best reviews. Clear, concise, actual data and comparisons but straight to the point. Thank you.
Thanks very much! I appreciate the feedback.
Glad to hear we're hitting the right mark.
May I ask which model can filter methanol best? Thank you.
DP04 - shop-links.co/1726188209902334676
It has the highest air flow. Though it's nothing specific to methanol, just merely air flow + filter types.
@@ModernCastle Ahh ok, thank you so much!

Thanks for the insights, Dan. That's good information to know.

@@ModernCastle THANK YOU!!! 🤗🤗
@@kikiss.z You're welcome!
Hey, between HP02 versus HP04, I read a review that said the 02 can schedule heating and the new 04 cannot. Is that true, if so, why is that?
No, that's untrue. Both HP02 and 04 use the exact same app.
Which one is the best for cooling? Can it come instead of an air conditioner?
The TP04 or DP04 would be best for cooling due to their high rate of air flow.
However, none of these are a replacement for an AC. They are fans. They blow air, but they do not cool air like an AC.
Nice review, but missing the fans that can use 3rd party filters that cost 1/3 as much as Dysons. These are the models that still use more common filters: TP04, DP04, HP04
Are we?
We discuss 3rd party filters here - ruclips.net/video/QLmjByYL7LY/видео.html
Or perhaps I misunderstood your comment.
In the winter who wants air cooling? Can I turn it off?
Yes, you can reduce the air flow. But you still need some air flow going through it for the purifier to function.
However, you can send it through the back of the unit, so that it won't blow on you.

I’m thinking about getting an HP02 because I’ve found a good offer on it, but I need something that will cool down a room. I know that this is just a fan, but can it compare to a portable A/C in the amount of cool air it produces?
Definitely not. As you said, it's just a fan. It's nothing like a portable AC.
Does the Dyson TPo4 allow air flow both ways? Front and back?
Yes, it does.
It does neither. It is merely a fan.
Dyson calls it a "cooling" fan because it blows air and that air flow creates a more comfortable room.
Hi man great vids, keep it making it, but I got 1 question those the filters are washable?
Hi can you tell me the sf capacity of the tp04 and the cfm? Thanks!
TP04 = 361 liters / second air flow
Dyson doesn't provide square footage capacity, but I would estimate it's sufficient for up to 400 sq. ft.
I have a 760sf apartment with vaulted ceilings , we are in California where the air quality is, as you know awful. What would you recommend? I’m prepared to get a smaller unit for the bedroom. Thanks for all the info!

Which model is best for cooling hot bedroom?
I would suggest the TP04, due to it's larger size, oscillation, and high air flow.
Which one save more electricity?
They are all about the same.
Modern Castle ok thanks a lot for your reply !!
Are they noisy? Can you shot video to compare the noisiness of the products. Please 😃, thanks for the informative video
They are pretty typical white noise that any fan would create.
The louder you set the air flow, the more the noise. Anything below a 5 is fairly ignorable, in my view. Above that, it could be noisier than many prefer.
I wanted you to actually run the fans so I could hear them I want to buy one but I like sleeping with a fan on so I gotta hear it first 😭

Can these things replace an air conditioner?
No
They are fans only. They don't actually cool the air like an AC would.

Thus far, we haven't tested a purifier that does a great job at managing VOCs (at least at that level).
For something as extreme as painting your house the best you can really do is ventilation + proper air flow. I'm unaware of any commercial grade purifier that would be well suited to that task.
Great video. Very helpful with all the useful organized detailed.
Thank you very much! Glad to hear it was helpful.
@@ModernCastle NP, I know how much effort is required for high quality videos, and they're becoming more scarce. The ratings for this video speak for itself. I just like to personally acknowledge my appreciation for the effort when I see it.

Good video. Thanks it was clear and there was non unnecessary information.
You're welcome! Glad to hear you liked it.
Modern Castle thank you!
@@LosingFriendsNow You're welcome!
Thank you so much for all the info!! Very informative.
Quick question, will the TP04 help with allergies?
Definitely
TP04 (in addition to virtually all air purifiers) work by pumping air through a filter. Particulates that were previously floating in the air that you were likely to breath in are now captured within the filter.
Less particulates for you to breath in means less irritation to your lungs and allergies.
Hello mate, I’m confused which one should I buy I like the TP04 for being taller but I also
Like the HP04 for being able to provide hot air.
Thank you :) i appreciate your advice

You're very welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Hi Derek, you did an excellent job on those Dyson products, but how about Dyson Tp06 model?
We haven't tested the TP06 yet, but we did put up some initial research thoughts on the specs here - moderncastle.com/dyson-pure-cool-cryptomic-tp06-review/
To sum it up...TP06 is a TP04 that also is able to remove formaldehyde. Air flow, specs, form factor, usability, etc. are all the same otherwise.
If your home has high formaldehyde levels, get the TP06. If not, save the money and get a TP04 or DP04.
Thanks a lot!
Hi,i wanted to know what's the CFM of each version?
Dyson does not provide that info, to my knowledge.
Ok, I wasn't ready for the socks and shorts. :-)
Lol - People kept complaining about me being bare foot, so I got these Modern Castle socks
Me too... I was like,"...uhmmmm...(*pointing*)...what are THOSEEEEE!"
Thanks for the review! What size room do you test in? Thanks!
A standard bedroom, about 12' x 12'
We test all purifiers in the same room for consistency purposes.
Where would you recommend placing the purifiers in a living room?
Centrally located is always ideal, so you have better coverage.
But if that's not an option just put it as close to the main sources of new air coming into the room...usually that means a door, window, or air vent.
Would you say the heat option is necessary when I can use my air conditioning to heat the room up?
No. If you have central Heat / AC you should just get a TP04 or DP04.
The only exception would be if you find your house has cold spots and want the portability of a space heater.
Very helpful review!!
You're welcome!
Hi mate I am looking between am07 and the hot + cool.
Is there a massive difference in power ?
Thanks in advance
Which Hot + Cool model are you wanting to compare the AM07 too?

I’m currently in the market for a HP04 or the latest HP06
I mainly want it for direct heating in a living room so how much heat are these models capable of creating ?
Thank you in advance.
According to Dyson.com "With long-range, purified heat projection, it's quick to heat the whole room evenly.¹" Those heating claims are based on a test area of 1236 square feet.
As far as "how much" heat that is...that's really impossible to quantity. But I would say it's pretty typical of any high performance space heater.
@@ModernCastle Thank you! One more question
The HP04 & HP06 basically have the same performance correct ? It’s just the HP06 filters out formaldehyde?
@@KyleStPaul-ne4ut Yep.
And you're correct. Only different in HP06 is formaldehyde filter.
Brilliant review, so informative, thanks so much.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for your kind words.
Does a TP04 cool down a room?
As much as any high flow fan would.
The cooling comes from air flow, not from any type of active AC
Thank you! I'm in the market for either an HP04 or TP04, so this video is really timely for me.
My pleasure! Glad we got the timing right :)
