The ac stop working and of course when it started getting hot. I don’t know much about fixing ac. I started for by changing the fuses. Adding more Freon but notice the pressure was very high. And then notice the ac clutch was not engaging. Saw this video and decide to do the same and fix the issue, been driving for with ac for two weeks.
Note: having another person around to keep the clutch from moving is recommended. Luckily my arms are long enough with a very long flat head to this job but it took some time. My washer wasn’t as bad but still decide not to put it back.

We have an ‘02 Si and every once in a while there’s a “spinning grinding sound” when the AC first kicks on for 3-5 seconds. If I am fast, I can turn the AC off real quick during the sound and the grinding/whining sound stops immediately (so I isolated this to something related to the AC, such as the AC clutch). I’m thinking I’ll just order a new clutch kit. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    • @autopurlieu

Sound could be anywhere in the compressor. Best way is to start with small fix. Yes, start with the clutch replacement. But if the sound persist, you might need to replace the whole ac compressor.

Hey broski, I just finally took off that washer. However it took a few days before I noticed it, but it started to make a noise. Is that ac clutch supposed to spin? It doesn't spin, but makes a noise like it is wanting to spin but doesn't. The noise doesn't happen all the time, but maybe 1 time ever few mins maybe. I've driven a few days before I noticed it, but ac worked for a day but then stopped, but other wise nothing drove differently or anything noticeable beside the noise making. I had to drive it after I found the noise but everything still drives good. I put the washer back on and it still is doing the same thing. I checked the clutch relay and it seems good, and I even put in a different relay and still the same thing. What could I have done by taking that nut off and removing the washer to cause this noise? I'm pretty sure I've never heard this noise before I performed this maneuver.

Possibly your clutch is really bad or compressor .
Did you check if the relay okay or if there power going to activate it ?

@@autopurlieu thanks for replying yes the replay is fine there is power . I’m thinking it’s fuel filter . But this problem started after I added Freon (red Angel ) to stop leak

@@DjamalSbili-qj5ch fuel filter is not related to this problem.
But putting additive “stops leak” is not recommended to any car and this application. That could cause your problem to compressor failure

@@autopurlieu yeah I think the anti leak caused my air compressor to act weird. Thanks
I will drain the Freon and see .

I think this is my problem. I went offroading and my ac starting going intermittent. Been testing switches, checking pressure, adding freon lol
Theres a sweet spot where my compressor will run forever. Then i drive 4 feet and the compressor will 'click' repetitively and not spin. Like the stator is working (i got 13V at compressor) but the clutch isnt engaging / disengaging till the engine has load

Yes, try it out. It’s pretty easy job, it won’t hurt to try
