CHEVY TAHOE 2009 AC SNOWFLAKE LIGHT FLASHING 3 TIMES FIX. Thank you for this! We have been searching for hours on end trying to 1) check if the compressor is bad and 2) if it's good, how to manually start it so we can get refrigerant in it!!! We did replace the ambient sensor thinking this was it. Although it wasn't the fix, it turns out that sensor was bad anyways! We do not have a Honda but this still helped us find out hwo to manually engage the compressor, to then do more searching to find the relay numbers we needed to put the wire (not paper clip ;) ) in for it to work for our CHEVY TAHOE. Thank you so much for taking the time to write and contribute. @@freshface_2106 it's hard to say without being there, but if the compressor isn't kicking on it could be a number of things, check all your fuses that have anything to do with the a/c,. Check to see if the compressor clutch is getting power, and if it is you may have a bad a/c coil, clutch or compressor, by pass the hi/low pressure switch with a jumper wire if it comes on you have either too much or not enough freon in the system. If your not getting a signal (power) to the compressor you may have a problem with the pcm or maybe a damaged wire. That's what I would check & then go from there, but if your not familiar with a/c systems you are probably better off taking it to an a/c mechanic these are some basic things you can check easy. Hey Aiman, great videos on manually overriding the AC clutch for the compressor. Question: I also have a honda civic (2011 EXL) same look as yours. But i am having trouble overriding the clutch. I tried with a paper clip and small cable to override the relay and the compressor would not turn on. When the car is on, i wiggled the clip/wire and there wasnt any sparks, which led me to believe maybe i wasnt putting the wire/clip in correctly. Might i need some alligator clips maybe? Not sure what else to do. AC was working just yesterday and it stopped last night, checked a month ago and gauge said it had about 1/4 left in freon.
What gauge said you had a 1/4 left? And refrigerant is not a consumable, it does not run out and need to be refilled. The ac/heating system is a closed loop, sealed system, ideally, and so it should always be 100% full. Unless you have a leak or something which would call for a repair.

As a pro technician I don’t jump or bypass ac compressor relay. That’s because ac compressor are meant to cycle. Two some AC compressors are extremely expensive. An example is for a 2014 Honda civic hybrid, they cost almost 3,000 dollars 2,800 dollars to be exact. I don’t think you would want to risk burning up an extremely expensive compressor like that. Even regular compressors cost 300 dollars on up brand new. It’d best to troubleshoot why they do not kick in rather than doing this. There can only be few possibility. Start with a fuse, then check relay. Learn how to check a relay and load test them. 3rd is pressure sensor, 4th is compressor thermal protector some are equipped with thermal protector. You will know because there is at least three wires coming into the compressor one for the clutch and two for the thermal protector. Another thing to check is temperature sensor, then climate controller last to fail would be PCM where sometimes the transistor that drive the compressor relay fail. Something like that would drain your battery because the compressor clutch is always one even when car is off. Why so? Because when transistor fail they usually short. That makes the turned on all the time.
You don't jump and leave it there. You jump it when your refrigerant has been recovered and the clutch won't engage to pull the new refrigerant through. Once enough goes in You put the relay back and it will come on and off as it should
It is necessary, as the kid said, when the freon pressure is too low and the pressure switch will not allow the compressor clutch to kick in. I know this is to protect the compressor, but if you don't then the pressure is still to high for any freon to flow in to the low pressure side, because the high and low are equal when it isn't running. It is literally the same thing a diagnostic tool does when you plug it in and force the compressor to run in order to fill the system. This is also what the manual says to do in order to fill a low system on nearly every older vehicle. Newer computer controlled systems do the same but without jumping the pressure switch, they do it internally by manually telling the computer to engage the clutch regardless of the pressure. The effect is the same, the compressor runs with less than optimal Freon and oil for a few seconds at a time, but freon and oil are being added, so it is getting oil.
I'm having trouble finding the relay to the compressor on a 2010 nissan sentra? I've looked on the diagram on the cover and it doesn't give me what I'm looking for. Can you help me with this please...thank you
Why start compressor in an unsafe condition and hope you get enough refrigerant in before you damage it? It’s not running because the low pressure interlock is not satisfied. Simply start car, AC on max, and add refrigerant. When the low pressure switch is satisfied, the compressor will start in a fully protected condition. Took one minute for compressor to kick in and 5 minutes to charge. Still ice cold AC after 2 mos. Use a gage to avoid overcharging.
The gauge reads high until the compressor kicks in. Then you’ll read the actual pressure. I’m not sure why so many bypass the low pressure interlock videos exist, but I’m sure compressors have been damaged by looking at some of the comments and questions.
We do it the same way that is just a test procedure. We use a paper clip or a jumper wire back probe and pins. It’s just a quick test to make sure your system is working before you charge it. Vacuum it down add Freon you can actually just pump the system, full air, and the compressor will keep killing it Pressure switch need to see that pressure and then AC compressor will kick on but it won’t get cold. It’s all a pressure system. If you don’t know what you’re doing don’t attempt this don’t even bother pay somebody to do it do it right don’t go off of these videos because I watch his videos and 90% of them are wrong.
I have a Honda Civic 2011, and my AC after some time working mainly on hot days suddenly stops working and starts giving only hot air. I have changed the compressor relay already, but the problems persist. Thank you very much, your feedback is highly appreciated.
I have a 2007 honda accord. I can jump the compressor clutch at the relay and filled about a can and a half. Great blowing cold all good. But when I put relay fuse back in the clutch will not engage. Check relay and clutch 7.5 fuse and they are all good. What the hey? HHEELLPPPP!!!!!!!!

Great idea! I did your instructions and the clutch kicks but still it doesn't recharge the refrigerant.any ideas what would be my next step to check?is the compressor dead?hoping for your reply.
It’s better just to pull a vacuum. That’s how I used to do mine but if you pull a vacuum to get most of the moisture out then it will take a charge best way though is to pull a vacuum and see if it holds the vacuum if it doesn’t hold the vacuum, you have a leak, check for leaks system and use soapy, water or listen and see if you can hear the league. You’ll be just wasting lots of money if you don’t do this.
You’re not understanding the video. The relay isn’t the problem. He explained it in the beginning of the video. The relay won’t receive a signal to switch to the “on” position and send a signal to the compressor if the pressures are too low to begin with and this is due to the low pressure switch. So, he’s bypassing the entire system to manually override the relay and force his compressor to engage, in turn this fills the system with Freon and then it works fine.
@@michaelscott33 My ac was working but then all of a sudden it stopped blowing cold air on freeway. So I tried reducing the compressor clutch gap with no spacers then one spacer clutch still didn’t kick in with engine/ac on so it not the gap. I suspect the clutch or coil. SomI hooked up ac gauges with engine off and ac off and just took readings and its about 80 deg H And 84 deg L with ambient temp of 80 under hood and this matches the charts, so this tells me I have some r134a and about same readings with engine and ac on but clutch is not engaged. Help me please !!! I have a Honda Accord 07 and have replaced the relay on it and the ac is not blowing anything no cold or hot, my fans turn on and work fine
check the compressor clutch if it is engaging and /or check the AC compressor pressure switch. I have the same issue, checked relay but can't tell if its working or not. Found compressor clutch not rotating guess not engaging when AC is on. So will be checking it tomorrow to fix it.
Wtf are you talking about. The compressor will kick on as soon as low pressure switch is satisfied. Gas will easily be at (r-134 is basically 1 psi per degree. Close enough anyway) 75psi on an 80° day. Runs at about 45psi when charged. So simply hook up to your suction line and add gas. If that is your only issue it will start itself.
What can happen if you listen to people that do not know what they are talking about like this guy, you have a leak if you are low/out of refrigerant…. You jump out compressor like only an imbecile would do…. You now pull the system into a vacuum an suck in non condensible gasses into your system ( air/humidity) and you are screwed. You will now be going off on the high pressure safety instead of the low pressure safety.

compressor to kick in and 5 minutes to charge. Still ice cold AC after 2 mos. Use a gage to avoid overcharging.
Did your refrigerant have a gauge? If so, did it jump to red and stay there before the clutch engaged?
The gauge reads high until the compressor kicks in. Then you’ll read the actual pressure. I’m not sure why so many bypass the low pressure
interlock videos exist, but I’m sure compressors have been damaged by looking at some of the comments and questions.
Thanks!
good kid
I like how you added more of the proper way of checking the for the normal DIYers out there
We do it the same way that is just a test procedure.
The wire hack work perfectly. And my ac clutch continued to run.
I have a Honda Civic 2011, and my AC after some time working mainly on hot days suddenly stops working and starts giving only hot air. I have changed the compressor relay already, but the problems persist. If you check the entire system even when the ambient temperature is high it starts fine, but after a while when I get caught in traffic jams my AC does not perform well anymore, any suggestions on how to diagnose it? Thank you very much, your feedback is highly appreciated.
did you replace your expansion valve? if you have a block or H expansion valve they can go bad after certain time...
@@mlez7197 No, I have not checked into that.
Probably the clutch clearance is excessive. Should be .35mm- .65mm clearance.
@@VeeYehLa thanks, how can I fix it?
@@carlosgalvis4538 if there is too much clearance you can get a new clutch, coil and pulley and get it replaced
The thermal protection is the likely culprit, or the rely you put back in is defective
@@cire80 same here when removing paper clip.. Clutch doesn't engage Can I just leave the paper clip in? Works great, and blows extremely cold. I have a 2001 chevrolet truck. I only use it for short distances to work and back home.
@@melvinspringer5486 thermal protection is there to protect the compressor from getting too hot, I don't really know how long till a compressor overheats, but you'd be rolling the dice.
@@cire80 Thank you very much! That's what I needed to know. Just going to go ahead and get it fixed correctly. But it's working great until payday. Thank you so much for responding. Very much appreciated
@@melvinspringer5486 FYI, if your compressor doesn't have a thermal protection, then it's likely that you have a bad relay and or fuse, they are not expensive, best of luck.
Mine isn't coming on as well, mine just works at random
Great idea!
I did your instructions and the clutch kicks but still it doesn't recharge the refrigerant.any ideas what would be my next step to check?is the compressor dead?hoping for your reply.
Watch a more reliable YT video. ;)

i have a feeling this guy isn’t hvac certified
I realize I'm pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to watch newly released movies online?
@Kash Wells i use FlixZone. Just google for it =)
@Jordan Keith Yup, have been watching on Flixzone for months myself :D
@Jordan Keith Thanks, I went there and it seems to work =) I really appreciate it!!
@Kash Wells You are welcome =)
It’s better just to pull a vacuum. That’s how I used to do mine but if you pull a vacuum to get most of the moisture out then it will take a charge best way though is to pull a vacuum and see if it holds the vacuum if it doesn’t hold the vacuum, you have a leak, check for leaks system and use soapy, water or listen and see if you can hear the league. You’ll be just wasting lots of money if you don’t do this.
Thank 👍
Excellent!
When I turn on the ac, the car rpm goes down, I hear and feel the ac compressor turn on, but absolutely no air is coming out of the vents
I have the same thing going on with my focus, I think it's the ac pressure switch sensor
90% sure cheap fix
@@codygreer1565 I hit underneath the glove box and the fan turns on
Sounds like blower motor’s!
@@afterthoughtsgarage320 I give it a good smack and it turns on
i think the better fix is replace the relay :D
You’re not understanding the video. The relay isn’t the problem. He explained it in the beginning of the video. The relay won’t receive a signal to switch to the “on” position and send a signal to the compressor if the pressures are too low to begin with and this is due to the low pressure switch. So, he’s bypassing the entire system to manually override the relay and force his compressor to engage, in turn this fills the system with Freon and then it works fine.
@@michaelscott33 ah ok

My ac was working but then all of a sudden it stopped blowing cold air on freeway.
So now I should jump it like video with our recharge and see where the readings are if the clutch engages if not then I know its the compressor clutch/coil is bad?
We no you nervous take your time lol😂
My compressor went out got another one put in but. Compressor still not coming on
Hey Angela. I'm a bit late I see..just was asking if you still needed help or if you got it figured out

That was super cool🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Your bypass view was not showed clear.
The a/c relay worked the horn on my car so it was ok.
if there was little bit of Freon in the system, He would have serious frost bite on his hand.
12 volts can't shock you don't worry

Bro u need a mic
So what's the problem next if you use the paperclip to jump relay you fill freon take out paperclip and your clutch doesn't engage anymore??
You might have overcharged it. They have high pressure switch and low pressure switch that will activate to shut down compressor. Overcharging is worse on your compressor than undercharging.
It could be the ac switch
AC switch probably, if you did not overfill.
I got schooled by a teen! Good job.
Help!! So my clutch won’t engage and I tried putting the paper lip in an got no sparks, I swapped fuses and the fuse still works but won’t engage the clutch how can I fix this?
Found out what it was having same problem?
did either of you figure it out?
It works for a 5 pin relay too i did it today same way
Help me please !!!
@@ReignVictorious did you fix it?
@@DjBriteLite Yes, its fixed. Clutch was bad. Bought after market AC compressor clutch from Amazon and replaced with bad one. AC works great now
@lovemypuppy76 ac pressure switch located at top rear of the engine
Aren’t you supposed to wear gloves when releasing pressure out of the AC Compressor
you can. we all grown and can make our own decisions on what we do
do not jump start a compressor when charge is low
Not to mention if you have a shout and you stick that paperclip it will instantly glow red hot and burn the shiz outa your fingers

So. I did this. And while i was filling the thing with freon....... pssshhhh! Freon escaped from somewhere leaving me in a cloud of weird smelling gas
