  • As a photographic artist, Chris Jordan explores the detritus of contemporary mass culture, from photographs of mountains of garbage to photo-based conceptual works that visually connect the viewer to otherwise abstract statistics associated with the things we waste. In his Running the Numbers series, millions of plastic bottles become an ocean, the ocean plastic pollution becomes a tsunami, and so on.
With large-scale prints held in public and private art collections around the globe, Jordan has been featured in magazines, newspapers, blogs and documentary films around the world, and has published three of his own stunning books of photography.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Chris Jordan is today's Super Hero enligtening us to the truth of what our Beloved Gaia has become. Plastic Earth due to our unconscious ignorance. Ignorance is not bliss . Albatross was the greatest Love story ever documentend and the the most Heartbreaking Story ever felt. Thankyou Chris, may all wake up to the profound message you have delivered . We can not NOT SEE this any more. May we all stop the consuming of any plastics and go minimal waste or zero waste . I pray xxx. Grief may help us to connect more deeply sincerely and become agents of change.

End of my last year as an educator. I have spent the last 6 showing this to my students. This has helped open a number of our eyes to these problems. In FL, we have lost 90% of our wading birds in the last 20 years. That is about the same percent as the tigers mentioned in this clip had over a 40 year period. We need to reflect in instead of pointing fingers outward. Instead we see a push to have FL control "our" own wetlands and eliminate red tape for their destruction.

Thank u sir!!! Over fishing is also part of d problem. These fishers use satellite technology, to track d fish ,then scoop them, with modern trawlers, that can catch a billion fish at a time. We have a choice of reversing d trend, or accelerating our own demise. A lot of human resources are wasted on weapons . We need a better UN, one not controlled by US, but one that shares, d interest of humanity not that of d security council. Once again God bless u sir.

I showed this to my students at a prison today. A couple asked about the song at the end playing as the albatross returned to the earth. Does anyone know the name and/or the artist?
