    "Letting people see another way to be...we have the power to change the menu...and the world." Every day I learn how to be more plastic-free. Thank you, Beth, for providing us all with the tools we need, and for helping me see how to live a plastic-free life.

    As a science educator, I am preparing a unit with a history colleague, to motivate our 8th graders as to why they as individuals can be the catalysts of change. Your presentation is exactly what I was looking for to demonstrate the power of 1. We want to plant the seed, so whenever or what ever sparks a passion in their lives, they will remember they can be the catalyst for change and contribute to the future in a positive way. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Sandra at The Sensible Mom website offers a RUclips video of how to make liquid hand soap. Three ingredients - water, glycerin, and hand soap. She used Dr. Bonner’s Peppermint Bar soap made with organic oils. I haven't tried the recipe, but she says it works great. She says three keys are the right hand soap, the right amount of glycerin, and stirring every few hours.

    LOVE this and you! BUT.. you should switch to a Norwex water filter. They care about recycling and limiting plastic, and harmful chemicals. Chlorox DOES NOT! I cen recommend a great consultant! (no, it's not me, lol)

    I'd recommend looking into twigbrush. It's a natural, plastic-free, alternative to toothbrushes and toothpastes. Been using it for a while now.

    Cork wine-corks are beeing substituted by plastic winne-corks. This is a stupid change and much more expensive in the long run. Please abstain from buying wine bottles with plastic corks, since corks made of cork are much healthier and environment friendly!

    this seems we are bad at managing plastic.... please don't bring in paper products to replace plastic that's more devastating because we need to chop trees to make paper products....

    • @mgmt97
      @mgmt97 5 лет назад

      Paper products are compostable and recyclable, meaning they can either go back to the soil (and become trees again) or be converted back and be reused as paper - infinitely if done right. Plastic can only be downcycled a couple of times and then it's no longer useful, plus it is much more harmful in the long term due to the harmful chemicals it adheres to. Most of the harm is done before plastic products even get to us as consumers and that's a lot to say. Reusable alternatives (such as glass, steel, silicone, etc) will be better than disposable recyclable ones (such as paper) but recyclable ones are still preferable over plastic ones. Managing plastic at this point is no longer an alternative, we need to stop producing plastic altogether if we don't want things to get any worse than they already are. I recommend the documentary "A Plastic Ocean", experts talk about the dangers of plastic in more depth.

      She mentions during her video "sanitary products which can be reused." I know people who use sponges which they wash after using to wipe. If there is a will, there is a way. Please use a little creativity.

    So many things wrong with this talk, first of all, we do know what is in plastic, yes, there are chemicals but we've now made it so its safe to use, the last time I heard of plastic being bad was specific water bottles that would increase chances of cancer. I have my doubts on this...
    She is only using emotional tactics to make something feel bad.
    The real problem is how much oil we're wasting making all these useless plastic items, as well as other things.
