Love your videos… which video actually shows the travel fan from Amazon? Can’t tell by the link you provide. Thanks
I would like to see a video for men about things your husband and son take as must haves for us guys. Thanks for the videos I enjoy them !!!
I’ll definitely do that soon!!
What a great idea👍🏼
Totally agreed!
Yes please! We leave in 30 days on our cruise and my wife is now trying to convince me to bring 7 pairs of pants for each night in the dining room!
Yes I agree we who are packing for our hubby need help. A check list would help
Those of us with IBS will pass on the romper; when you're running to the toilet, the last thing you want to be wearing is something that difficult.
What I've learned after 15 cruises: 1 - always take at least 50% more undies than the number of days. Ex: 7 day cruise? Take at least 11 pairs of undies. Honestly take 2x as many days, but I like to be prepared. 2 - For slacks and jeans, take the stretchy/closer-fitting pairs so they are not as likely to look "stretched out" when you wear them a 2nd or 3rd time. 3 - at least 2 swimsuits so you always have a dry one (and ALWAYS wash them with soap as soon as you take them off, especially if youve been at a beach - you do NOT want "beach stank". haha), 4 - if you wear Rx sunglases/normal glasses, bring back-ups. You never know when something can go missing or get broken.
Great advice
I like to wear bike style shorts under my shorter sundresses. It can get pretty windy around the ship and in port!
Jewelry for me, super easy: two pairs of hoop earrings, one gold and one silver. That’s it!!! 😊
I always take a visor or two..... I always pack a few brightly colored scarves to take a dress from day to evening, always skorts, and last but not least.... my new favorite... palazzo pants!!!
I did my Mediterranean Cruise on Wonder of the Seas last year and packed only dresses! It was the best decision I made. So easy to get ready ever day. Shoes & accessories where easy to coordinate.
I always pack yoga pants and comfy t shirt
Earplugs I always take.
I went on a cruise with my family two weeks ago. We had a marvelous time. After I booked the cruise I started watching your videos. Let me just say OMGGGGG! I took alot of your advice. I brought things I would never have brought. Your advice was a life saver. I could go on and on. Thank you so much. You are the BEST!!!!!
Everytime I watch your videos I get so excited about our upcoming cruise☺️thank you for the recommendations
I’m so glad my videos add to your cruise excitement (love that) 🛳️
I love capris and bring them on most of my vacations -- whether cruise or land.
lol I’m going to have to get some
I am a Lands End girl.
Loved seeing you walking along the seawall in Stanley Park at the beginning of this video with your cross body bag :)
Another tip - bring a gallon ziplock bag for packing damp swimwear!
And for water shoes if they're still damp!
My comfy clothes tend to be sun dresses, shorts and t shirts
A hooded raincoat is essential. We had days with drenching rain days on both my Alaska and Canada cruises.
I'm on holiday. I absolutely am not wearing shape wear 😂😂😂
😅You couldn't pay me enough to wear shape wear at any time ever. That crap belong back in the dark ages 😅
I go up several sizes so I’m not being squeezed in but I am getting a smooth shape without lines, rolls etc under my clothes
I definitely love bringing my light weight wind breaker jacket. Also, my sunglasses are very important. I purchased those magnetic hooks that you suggested and love them. Thank you 😊
I was looking for a small cruise purse on Etsy, I stumbled into crocheted purses and thought, I can make that! I'm almost done!!!
I use it to hold my phone, cruise card, hair ties, sunglasses, lip balm, and other little things.
So cute!
I go to Thrift Stores to find small, unique handbags for trips!
Comfort clothes are a big yes. Like a lot of women, I used to over pack and bring lots of different outfits to be cute in. In reality, I ended up wearing the comfy clothes. Remember, you will likely eat a lot more than you normally do at home.
I definitely pack comfy clothes. I usually wear capris during my trips.
I'm very cold-natured so I bring my comfy, cozy clothes and wear them daily. On my last cruise (Feb western Caribbean), I wore my light sweatshirt everywhere inside.
I always pack so I can layer clothes depending on the weather and ports of call. I can easily overpack so something I started doing was picking a color theme and then packing so everything can go together. I know there is quite a discussion about formal nights but I have always enjoyed them. For formal night I always wear something from Alex Evening; they pack beautifully and are very comfortable. Everyone needs to do what makes them happy and comfortable.
Neutral hi waist shaper shorts. Not only help clothing look better, but help my low back pain with all the walking on the ship. I always bring a few pair of birkenstock sandals, they are my go to. Just was on NCL Prima this past week, March 1-8. This was my daughter in law's 1st cruise and she is hooked!. We are planning on another next year already! The only thing I was disappointed in with Prima was entertainment this time. It was lacking, but still quite a bit to do!
Sports bras for excursions. Walking in the heat, humidity, and bouncing are better in a sporty bra. Bring 2. I bring double the underwear as I end up changing twice or 3 times a day.
I've just returned from a cruise, and I practically lived in maxi skirts (I packed 2 for a 10 day cruise) and loads of different coloured tank tops. I not only had a different outfit per day, but it took up very little room in my suitcase, and it was super comfortable to wear as well.
Love that!
Hi Ilana! It's Check-in Day for me! Fourth time Boston/Bermuda and third time NCL. I love being at the ship in thirty minutes instead of six hours!!! 😊
Lucky you!!!! Enjoy every minute 🛳️
I’m doing Boston - Bermuda in June and agree with you!! Won’t miss the flight, and I can pack anything I want.
I always stick to just 2 colors when travelling--blue (different shades) and black or grey for bottoms, and I switch it up with different colored shirts. This limits how many pairs of shoes I have to bring. Definitely, I go for comfort. "Dressy night" for me is a nice pair of black pants. and a nice blouse.
I always pack a a beige mini slip. I was once wearing a long midi skirt going down the stairs in an outside deck and a very strong wind came a blew my skirt up. I was not worried because I was wearing a slip and that stayed in place. Also for very thin dresses it helps the dress from no sticking to me when I stand up.
I’m sure a video about Essentials for Kids would also be useful and informative for many
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll get some kids & men’s stuff here soon :)
@NicholasPyers, Ilana's "Ultimate Cuise Planner" saved this first-time cruiser!!
Worth every penny!!!!
It has pages that addresses what to bring for kids, too.
Packing is really easy if you're on one of those chartered nudist cruises. Though I suppose that's not an option for Alaska or Norway ....
I needed this video! I've been googling "Women cruise wear" all this week. 😄
I have the jumpsuit in 5 colors, and I just love it. You can dress it up or down with jewelry and heels or flats. So easy to pack and very light. I also pair it with a beige sweater!
Love that! I should probably get it in other colors too. It’s so comfy & I always feel cute 😂
I hope this isn't TMI but what about needing to go to the bathroom? Do you have to get completely undressed?
I find ALL your videos helpful, informative and enjoyable and therefore give them a big THUMBS UP! 👍🏻
Awe thanks! I appreciate you :)
Hi Ilana! I just wanted to thank you for all the information, suggestions, and links that you provided. Your videos are very helpful! We are going on a Royal Caribbean cruise in a few weeks, and I didn't know where to begin, especially as far as finding outfits goes! Thanks so much again!
So glad capri’s are coming back in style!!! They really came in handy on my first cruise in 2004, and a few after that. I ended up donating them over the years and now I wish I had them to mix in with my current wardrobe! Oh well, thanks for sharing 🛳️🛳️
I totally agree! Lol very versatile 😂
I didn't realize they were out of style.😮 I live in a warm climate, maybe we are just stubborn. 😂
@@kellyk3953 lol, it seems the “trends” come & go so quickly these days, but we can ignore them 😂
Capris are out of style? I have been wearing them for 40 years! Lol!
@@kymulina1499 haha it seems that I misspoke. I thought they were “less” in style the last couple of years. I definitely didn’t see them in malls near me. Personally I think they’re very practical 😂
Lightweight scarves are one of my cruise essentials. Roll them for packing.
Absolutely!! Thanks for sharing 👏
Hi Llana, I'll be packing a few comfy matching sets/lounge wear for sure. I'm getting ready to pack this weekend for our cruise that is in 10 days!! It's finally here 😁🛳💕
Btw... your videos and your cruise planner have been SO helpful.
Especially this one. This is a good reminder of what I need to pack. 😊 🥰
Great idea! Those sets are great for travel days too
Great tips! Little Black dress for folks who do not want to dress to the nines, but want to be nice. ❤️
Ok, now it's your hubby's turn to do a video on 25 things MEN need to pack. 😊
Thank you for the tips! My problem is trying to narrow my selections down and finding neutral shoes that can go with multiple outfits.
It is a challenge I know. If you don’t need to pack super light, bring the extra shoes :)
Great video as always. I did forget socks one time and I wanted to walk around the jogging track and that was uncomfortable. I always love your dresses, so I can’t wait to check them all out. Thanks a bunch.!!
Yes, I always pack comfy clothes, some just for the cabin and some that is comfy for excursions.
Great timing for our upcoming Caribbean cruise.
One thing I always bring is moleskin and TSA size scissors (small). It sticks inside shoes or sandles better than bandages and helps prevent blisters.
Good idea
So glad I found your channel! All of your videos are so helpful, honest, humorous and upheat - and after having watched some older ones that popped up, I also have to say that you seem to be aging backwards!! Thank you for all you do.
Haha you’re too kind! So glad the videos are helpful:)
Vista sports from LLBean....zipper pockets and very comfy. Reduces need for purse or fanny pack when in port or just on board the ship. Also. Don't forget a lanyard!
My comfy clothes are leggings and a tshirt that so far i have always worn on disembarking day
And…love your you channel - very helpful and informative! Thank you
I love my capris, swim capris too. I have my travel jammies (dark, not revealing). Hubby and I will be traveling to the cruise in jeans, tshirt, fleece jacket, comfortable running shoes, and in our backpack a waterproof packet jacket. I found an adorable jumpsuit in Old Navy's priced to clear section last year, and thought it would be a good thing to bring, and a black/floral maxi dress that's quite flattering. Of course, I'll have a sweatshirt (Karen Scott brand in The Bay has some really nice ones). And we'll be expecting 3 dressy nights, as our first night we'll be celebrating our 39th anniversary. So much fun ahead of us.
Happy anniversary & thanks for sharing
My husband and I took our first cruise to the Carribean and added windbreakers thinking itmight be cool on deck in the evening. On a tender boat to Belizeto go to a zoo,one man looked at us and said "You must be Canadian. No American would bring jackts travelling south of Florida!"But this was also a cruise where the day temperature started at 85F/86F (we hadn't switched to C at that time yet), but looking at long range forecasts for our March cruise before leaving home, from embarcation day and for the next few days the temps were 85, 82, 62, 65, 69, 75..... I honestly thought Environment Canada had typos. However it was a storm that came in overnight the first full day out, but because of the intensity, though we were supposed to be in Key West, no ships were allowed into the port. Our entire schedule changed twice, and the night of the storm had the ship rocking in big waves, under 100 went to dinner, plates and food fell from tables and serving areas, and this was a formal night with photo's with the Captain (we went for pictures but my husband looked VERY green.) The next days all had all snorkling and related trips were cancelled, a few tender boats had difficult landings, etc and we ended up in Cozumel twice, once when almost nothing was open to do, and another day when the port had many more than normal ships docked, and a snorkling for 50 people became a very crowded 85-90. All this to say - that for any other cruise I took, I always had a windbreaker just in case, light gloves (for a transatlantic and a transpacific) and packed mental flexability.
Fantastic once again Llana....🇬🇧👍
I love all your videos and thank you for your advice
I bring the original hip bag from Sipsey Wilder...get the longest strap and it can worn like a cross body purse or cinch the strap and wear as a hip bag or sling bag...lots of cute designs and solid colors available from this woman owned online store!!
Heck yes comfy. A couple pairs of leggings/tights, t-shirts, my EVA Birka for the pool/beach, well loved t-shirt and PJ bottoms for the Cabin, short satin robe for cabin.
One thing I loved having on my Caribbean/Mexico cruise was a rash guard for swimming. Cozumel had a sunscreen ban so I opted to cover my top with a rash guard (as a bonus it made sure my bathing suit top didn’t try to move while diving off the boat to snorkel! 😅)
It's funny to hear the question asked whether or not we wear comfortable clothes because I can't imagine why anyone would wear something *On Vacation* that wasn't comfortable. I pack things that don't need to be ironed, are comfortable and relaxing to wear. Even when I dress up for dinner, I wear what I would normally wear to church (really nice, but not cocktail attire). I LIVE by your *Ultimate Cruise Planner* and am now preparing for my next cruise in two months. One thing I always pack is a pair of slippers to wear around my cabin.
I have not been on a cruise for about 10 years...and going on a 12 day one next week! So timely. Great refresher and a few things I totally forgot/never thought of. Thank you!
Can’t wait to your video about Men’s Essentials 😊
I’m going on western Caribbean Mexico cruise out of Galveston in early March 2025. Wondering what to pack for cold temps on the ship (like it was in January 2024 when I was cold the whole time). The only place it was warm was off the ship on excursions. I never wore any of my sleeveless tops or shorts.
Just got back from a cruise with the hubs and his brother/wife...I actually did all of what you mentioned above! I did overpack though, and brought home clothes that were not worn...I found though, that I was missing one type of outfit: something to wear, around the pool, on a Lounger - on a warm day, that was not a swimsuit, capri/nice top, jean shorts!, too dressy of a dress .. I am not a thin spaghetti strap tank top kind of gal... so maybe just more comfy shorts/sleeveless but not dressy top, or a beach cover up dress that can be worn solo... I found my casual day wear, was actually too dressy for daytime wear on a sea day for a sunny climate/Panama canal trip... no rompers for me, they never fit in the you know wear area!
Great idea!!
Bagellini!!! Amazon. Tip from you. Have 2 different colors and different sizes. THAT WAS THE BEST TIP! Thank you!🙂
On Harmony of the Seas right now and it's COLD, be sure to plan for that. We left Costa Maya 3 hours late so we are going full speed to catch up on time. 2 medical emergencies kept us at port. Be prepared for that as well
My husband and I just got back from a Caribbean cruise and I overpacked like crazy! We had to buy some carryon bags to lighten the load from my suitcase. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
This is super helpful for the next one!
Yay-I've been waiting for this video!! Thank you Ilana!!!
Very helped!! Thanks! So glad I found your channel!!💕
We used your planner for our Alaska cruise 🥰
Your new LBD is gorgeous!!! I enjoy going to the gym when on a cruise, so I bring some basketball shorts.
I love Belt bags so much OBSESSED! My favorite I been wearing them for years since they came back in style 💛💙🛳️💙🌷🌷✨🌼🌼✨🫶🏻🦋🦋❤️🩷🌺🌼✨🦋🩵🩵🧡🧡🩵🩵❤️🌻🌼🌸🌸🌷💙🛳️💙💛💛🫶🏻🫶🏻✨🦋🩵🧡🧡🧡🩵🩵🦋🌻🩷🌺🪻🪻🌷🌷🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞🪻🪻🌷💛🛳️💕💛❤️❤️✨🌼🩷🩷🩷❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love that! Definitely practical 👏👏😎
@@LifeWellCruised IKR!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I only bring comfy clothes. I don’t do gala nights because I have foot pain and can only wear runners. I almost always go to the buffet or have room service.
Love this so much! I am also a big believer in scarves. They are lightweight and can completely change up an outfit.
You’re so right
I always bring shapewear but last time I didn’t use it for the first time
Your new black cocktail dress is currently sitting in my Amazon cart. I love to bring a pair of gauze palazzo pants. They can be worn to dinner one night and then become a beach cover up later in the week.
I always pack a nice middy length black skirt with a couple of dressy tops all in wrinkle resistant fabrics. I find that they work well for me for formal nights and take up very little space in my bag. One of my tops is a bit sparkly so I keep it for the more formal night. I also pack microfiber undies with cotton lined crotch. They dry super fast if I need to rinse them out in the sink and again pack nicely in a small amount of space.
Thanks for sharing your tips
I do exactly the same. I have been cruising 4 or 5 times a year for awhile and my packing get# less and less. Now I just pack in a tote for anything less than a week.
@barbarawwarren4554 any tips for my 25 day transatlantic cruise, im usually pretty good, but I am definitely over packed fir this one.
Thank you so much!! I’m excited for our upcoming cruise next month!! I graduated last week as a Registered Nurse!! I’m so excited! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations
I purchased two Iman reversible tops with slit sleeves. That covered four daytime outfits. They were a pleasing abstract with different colored roses, worn with one pair
of black shorts that were only seen if I bent over. I wore these on the Carnival Mardi Gras. The outfit I wore on embarkation was re- worn on disembarkation. That meant I only needed one more casual outfit to pack!
For the first time, I used packing cubes. I loved them.
Great ideas
I love your videos. However, I do not like rompers for travel. I don't like having to pull them down when using the restroom.
That’s a good point. I find them so easy & comfy, but I hear you 😂
Ive been searching for this info for the longest time hahaha Thank you so much
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
I like to wear the capri exercise pants as they have pockets to hold my phone and sea pass card.
Can you please link the white ruffled strapless dress in the beginning of the video? So pretty! ❤️
For shorts, I have a few pairs of bicycle shorts in black and gray. Not only are they flattering, supportive and tight on the upper thigh, but they work out great as swim suit bottoms as well.
Super smart! I should try that
I always pack comfy clothes ❤
Capris and crops didn’t really go out of style. I still see them being worn and I still wear them. Mostly what I take cruising. Plus several casual and dressier tops. TFS.
That works well
I wear them all the time

I would like to see what guys need to take as i've said hat i'm new to cruising our first cruise is tho the Mexican Rivera in December
As a BFF… How do you manage 1 pc romper legs in public bathrooms to keep from dragging them on dirty floors?
Where is the dress with sea stars and shells you wearing on a picture on your community place? Thank You, I was hoping you will include it on this video 😊
I'm thinking of changing what I bring for dinners. Even on formal nights nobody except us was dressed up. This is Royal Caribbean. Ilana what do you think about this?- Just doing dark jeans, loafers, and a blouse? That honestly would still be more "dressed-up" than the vast majority I've seen. We do about 4 RCL cruises/yr but maybe I should squeeze in a Celebrity cruise for something a bit more traditional. 😂 I love your videos!!!! You help me so much! 💜
On Royal you definitely can if you like. I notice a real mix & formal is definitely a suggestion. A bit more dressy on celebrity these days, but even then it’s all about personal style :)
Yes, we found this to be true on our recent Princess Panama canal Cruise; my formal dresses, were definately formal...and took a lot of room in my suitcase...I think anything Black and lighter would be my choice next time, with a light wrap... even a casual sleeveless dress with a nice wrap, would be fine.... there was a definate Mix of attire on formal night, even shorts! and not a problem...
I have a personal question. I'm going on my first RCL cruise next year, w hat do you recommend wearing I don't wear slacks or shorts due to my religion. Although I love dresses, I like to see the different styles of clothing that is worn by everyone. On this cruise I will be traveling for the first time without my husband who is disabled and doesn't feel comfortable on ships anymore. My son and a his best friend will be traveling with me. I just need help in the clothing arena. Thank you
Can you PLEASE, PLEASE share the sizes of the clothes you wear, it would help tremendously!
Leaving for a cruise in a couple of weeks and love that I always pick up some new tip from your many informative videos. Thank you once again Ilana.
Dawn from Ottawa.
Have a great cruise!!
I tried to purchase your cruise planning guide, but I didn't want to join another shopping site and when I went to down load the guide it dumped me out. Is there anything that can be done to get me the guide or return my purchase price. I am a long time cruiser with over 20 cruses and still find your insights to be very helpful. Thank you for your vids😀
I bring Columbia shirts which protect from sun. I’m very sensitive to the sun. These sun protection shirts wash and dry very quickly.
Ilana, what about men? We don't need bras and dresses, but your advice would be appreciated. I am planning a cruise for two men and two women.
What's the easiest way to contact you? TY.
Hi! I purchased the one shoulder black dress you showed. It is beautiful and I love it!
So glad you like it! Thanks for sharing
Helpful. Thanks.
First cruise in a few weeks. I have most of this packed already. I ordered a hat last week after watching one of your other videos. Glad I’m on the right track.
Have a great cruise!!
Love your videos we took our first cruise last October, thanks to you, all your travel knowledge we had everything needed, had a wonderful, blessed cruise 🚢 THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!😊🙏❤️
So glad you enjoyed your first cruise!
❤❤❤ helpful information
I’m going next week and haven’t started to pack yet. I never think about a holiday until the week before, just incase it jinxes it 😂
Great list💞
