The perfect timing for a rerelease. Lawrence, KS resident here. I'm sad to report that Centron's studios, known as Oldfather Studios following the sale of the building to KU, was torn down very recently to make way for more college apartments. One of the theaters here also screened the film last week in memory of Oldfather Studios and ol' Herk himself. It's also kinda surreal seeing these old shots of Lawrence back in the day. I pass by both the church and Mary's house on the way to work, for example. That's right, Mary never left Lawrence! The drag race scene? That's Clinton Parkway they start off on; right near the biomedical wing of KU. The garage where Mary visits is now a military recruiting office. In fact, that garage was just a block away from the church!
Lawrence really is a cute little town. I've only been once in 2007 for a big scooter rally in KC, and we did a ride all the way to Lawrence one day and I loved it. Would have been a great place to attend college for sure.

I have to say this movie demonstrated some truly in-depth research. It is little known outside of highly educated research circles that if you drown in a volume of Star Wars milk, your soul is misconfigured, and instead of ascending normally your soul has to route through the nearest waterside amusement park or attraction. Kudos, Herk.

And I found similarities on the plot with the Sixth Sense. A legitimate good film with plenty of interesting topics to comment if watching it when not alone.
Kudos to the late Sidney Berger, who played the absolute creep John Linden; he went on to earn a Ph.D. in Theater, was a theater director for decades, a passionate Shakespeare lover... and was married to the same woman for 49 years. He did a great job, playing the exact opposite of who he was -- to the point of making me not wanting to come anywhere near him. 😁
