    That long "snoot" 4425 is a rakishly good looking devil. I like it. I also like the slightly shorter format, Rick. Thanks for another good video.

    Love it, i remember when you got these i moved from Chicago to Florida, nearly 3 almost 4 years ago....in real life they were regulated to smaller assignments before getting retired....now they are mainline service again in Brasil.

    Not sure if it helps but I run ESU, soundtraxx, paragon, TCS, and ring engineering, sound decoders together independenty and in consist. The trick is to speed match and function key match each to all respond to your control preferences. The end result is amazing!😊

    For the new industry you’re planning to add, it might be cool to do a recycling facility where the track enters the building through a roll up metal door? Just a thought…

      Unless I misunderstood, he's not planning a new industry: just making an existing one bigger.

    Great video Rick. I don't use the ESU decoders either. I'm all SoundTraxx. The ESU decoders sound good, but I started out with the SoundTraxx and wanted all my locos to be the same.
    I have a complaint about Scale Trains in this case. They make some beautiful locos, but to install a SoundTraxx decoder in them is like pulling teeth. If someone out there has an easy method to do this, I would like to hear it. I have converted 2 Scale Trains locos to SoundTraxx but I have more to do. Thanks again for the video and your discussions are always good to hear.

    I think you're on to something here.... On a recent trip to SoCal I noticed both BNSF and UP switching industrial spurs with solid sets of 6-axel locos ---- BNSF in Rancho Cucamonga (out of Kaiser/Fontana) and UP in the Ontario area just east of ONT airport.

      BNSF runs east on the south route, along the 91 freeway from the ports to SanBernardino. Union Pacific runs east on the North route, along the 10 freeway through West Colton yard. Both meet in the inland empire, where they join up and share trackage through the cajon pass. Its great great fun to live in and around Rancho/Ontario/Riverside/San Bernadino. 🎉🎉

      "you'll be surprised at how many people actually watch the whole video"
      RUclips provides creators with statistics about how many people watch how much. He *knows* how many people actually watch the whole video; you're just guessing based on the assumption that everyone is like you.

    Rick, your layout has been a great inspiration for my layout I am currently building. I really appreciate the videos. In regards to the new spur, I would be hesitant to put a turnout in the middle of an S curve. Would it be possible to take that Pecó left hand turnout on top of the Black rifle coffee box and add it to the the spur turnout you already have creating a yard ladder with the diverging route from this turnout going to the existing spur and the other route for the new additional spur? Keep the videos coming!

    Hi Rick, I like your thinking with a bigger industry. Move the road down a bit. One thing you don't have is a road with a restaurant or gas station. Things that are all around and co exist together.

    • @musicman8942
      @musicman8942 Месяц назад +1

      Rick doesn't do roads as such but mostly cross-streets. What you're talking about wouldn't work on Rick's layout as he's more about the trains and the immediate surroundings. He does have that taco stand though :)

    You may consider instead of having the street cross the layout make it a frontage street in front of the rear tracks so the industries have truck service too.

    LokSound 5 have a CV that sets how long the Keep Alive keeps things alive. I have a couple of ST SD40-2 and when I got them, the Keep Alive timer was at 0 so it basically didn't work. I use JMRI to adjust them.

    I'm sure with the extra track, you'll have more room to set out cars. Bides, your layout your choice if you're going to make changes. I hope you can get the San Anna River finish before June of 2025. I can't wait to see what that's going to look like.

    Good video, Rick. What name Contact Cleaner do you use?

    • @socalscalemodels
      @socalscalemodels  Месяц назад

      it's call CRC contact cleaner

    • @musicman8942
      @musicman8942 Месяц назад

      I use IPA - isopropyl alcohol. Cheaper than contact cleaner and safer for the environment - you don't have a metal container to try and recycle (most recycling entities/towns don't take spray cans). The IPA comes in a plastic bottle. Just grab a paper towel, wet it with IPA and apply some elbow grease.

    If you add the turnout at the ‘red tie’ spot, would the radius be too sharp to use 6-sxle units?

    • @socalscalemodels

      should be good

    • @musicman8942
      @musicman8942 Месяц назад

      I've run 6 axle diesels on 18 inch radius and Atlas #4 turnouts which are sharper than the turnouts Rick is using.

    Rick: Turn the BRCC box into an industry of it's own - Rick's Outfitters for hunting and fishing and so on. This is coming from someone who has camo curtains on their front porch.

    • @musicman8942
      @musicman8942 Месяц назад

      A thought just came across my grey matter: use the new track to service the existing industry down at then end as well as Rick's Outfitters. That would make for some interesting switching ops. 2 businesses on one spur.

  • @PacificEnterpriseNetwork
    @PacificEnterpriseNetwork Месяц назад

    I'd eliminate that street all together and make the industry in that area be one large industry that has the two spurs. Perhaps one for incoming and one for outgoing? We can imagine a street on the left side of the layout, off in space.

    Did you really just call Tank Cars Locomotives Rick? How Devilish! apx 6:40 Tunnel motors yes, I have a pair with the Advanced Locsound decoders (my pal ordered the wrong ones) They sound REALLY good and I weathered up both locos, one is a Kodochrome, and use them on the unit Tank train. You can see em in my layout tour vid. near the end if bored enough to watch. Cheers errr Gobble Gobble.🦃
    Track mod. for industry, approved.! you know you wanna add the Santa Fe access crossing at the other end, you know you do☺
