Well, since I used to live near the "Santa Ana" branch trackage, and would see the Anaheim Hauler almost everyday in the 1970's, I'd think if you got a single unit, it might be a SP or SSW SW1500, as that would make the most sense for the area. Almost all the other power was paired up due to UP's rules using their track from Industry to Los Nietos. Might I suggest you order a pair of the Bowser C415's when they become available if you want Old School for the area you are modeling. Or, if those are too ugly for your tastes, a pair of SD9's or SD9E's would work in the post Alco age.

love this layout your building here nice job on it. I really need to upload more videos on my youtube channel. but I used Double Sided Foam Tape for that DryDex you used it really helped keep the ends of the road nice and neat on the sides.

I've shied away from buried track, but you've got me considering it now. Looking forward to seeing how you clean up the flangeways. The concrete river and the bridge will really add a lot to the layout too.

I don't know how Rick does it, but I use a set of wheels that I adjust to just barely sit on the track with no wiggle room. The flanges are tight against the rail. I roll them back and forth before the grout is completely dry. Then I widen the flange ways with a very thin file. It works for me.

@@David-yo5reI use a hacksaw blade to clear the flangeways. It's flexible and the right thickness.

@@jcureI never thought of that. Thanks for the tip.

I have an old pair of AHM freight car trucks with the pizza cutter flanges, those work great when the plaster is still slightly wet. 😉

Change looks great! However the road is going to make both runarounds a lot shorter. You will probably need working grade crossing to keep people from driving around the standing cars when the industries are being switched.
