  • Hi Guys,
Welcome to my 1978 Dufour 31 (10m) project. I have traded this for my Sturgeon 22 ft (my first sailboat). This Dufour has been neglected for several years (4?) It's insanely dirty, disassembled, and not in her best shape. In the coming months, I'm going to bring her life back. I'm not a sailor, and I don't have much boat experience, so come with me on the adventure to see the progress. The goal is to be ready in the summer of 2023. I'll cover all kinds of various topics, to gain and share my knowledge and experiences.
    In this video:
I'm showing you around inside the cabin, and I'll show you how to place windows without the traditional screws. I used VHB tape and placed the 5mm thick Oxolon uv windows!

That's awesome, I love his channel, he's a great editor, I am learning, but the project is amazing 😁⚙️🔧⛵. I've been in an foreign country as well and I've got help from 'strangers', so it's great to give back!

super nice about the tape. I‘ll need to install windows on my newly built boat soon and was dreading having to use screws.

Yeah, I'm not completely sure how long this will be okay, according to the 'van asperen' company, this is insanely strong, and long lasting. But I'm not completely sure what it does with waves in the water 💦! (Rolling Deck). Will see! 😁👍🏻

Awesome, the old books are cool, nice that you saved them. Also, great to be screwless I've got that as well. Keep going 👍🏻

Super gaaf project, fijn dat je alles van Dufour (die klapper) mee hebt gekregen.
Dit wordt een gaaf zeewaardig schip.
Vraagje; Was het meeste (of alles) in spiegelbeeld gefilmd?

Great job on the windows! I just redid my windows with silicon and screw and your method seems a lot cleaner. Thanks for sharing!

Enjoyable videos. Now, as you were showing your navigation etc I was thinking, if you are stuck inside your partner may appreciate if you rubbed down some of the interior wood and re-varnished or re-oiled it. The inside looks very good but some wood varnishing wood give a rich finish.

Yeah exactly, haha but that's a huuuuge job, maybe for next year as 'nice to have' instead of prior.

I would have painted the sides first and then put the windows in. My windows are cracked too on my Dufour 31. Will replace them this summer. Nice work.

Casper! Thanks for your reply. Yes I see what you mean, but after 7 months it was 1 day 20 degrees, and that's what me motivated to do it. The strip will be painted again, and eventually I could put a black strip on top of the window like; car wrap or something. To cover the seetrough. Anyway, yes you are correct, but I wanted to finish it ✅

Thank you for the information about using the tape for the new window installation. Where did you obtain your windows from?

@Sailing Silverwind I forgot to look, thanks, will do. Did you make a template from the frame of the old window for the company to cut to size. We have an old Westerly Centaur that we need to fit new windows. Newbies to this. Looking forward to your next video. Oh, and don't forget to do any rehabilitation exercises for your knee👍

No worries, there's no frame in these windows, maybe not originally I'm not really sure. These windows are just put on to the cabin body outside. I've checked Google for your westerly, and that's a different system indeed with frames, that works difficult. ✅👍🏻 And thank you very much, the knee will be fine in a few months 🙏

Thanks for vid. My windows are sika flex and screws. Some rust is showing. I want to use the 3 m tape and primer. My windows are oblong and rounded not square. (click my icon to see). Does this tape bend around? Just wondering how I will put tape on the rounded ends of my windows. Thanks in advance.... Gary in British Columbia

It does work easily, and if you have rounded edges, you need to be creative, only curved windows is hard.
