There's a lot more to be said about this period of medical school. A lot of hard lessons learned that necessitate another video that will be a story for another day, at a later time. But thank you so much for all your support while I've been away and I look forward to finishing out med school strong :)
Passing the test is a challenging and frustrating experience. I believe that it's not just about studying, but also about having God's grace to succeed.
Frustration can be a positive sign. It indicates that the solution to your problem is close, but your current approach isn't working. You need to change your approach to achieve your goal.
Trust me, never give up. After failing twice, I almost quit, but I kept going and finally got my license. I'm grateful that my friend recommended me to Mr Richard who helped me achieve my goal.
I am struggling to think of someone who makes better medical content than you man. The quality is at the highest level. Beyond grateful for you coming out to Athens to film such a meaningful experience in my life, and can’t wait to watch the next vlog.
Dear Andy, I am currently MCAT studying and I have a VERY small window to study. Thank you so much for posting this video because it made me realize how I need to work on my studying skills. Anyways, I aspire to be like you one day! This is my personal youtube account, but I WANT to open up my own channel with a video diary series when I get accepted into med school (bc I will and HAVE to). Thank you for being my inspo!! Hope I can meet you one day!!
congrats man. I got into med school this year, and I now kinda understand the pressure. I've found many RUclips channels that are about it and yours is one of them.Thank you for making these videos !!!
Step 2 and level 2 were harder for me due to a lot of changes in relationships around me, both health wise and status wise. My dedicated was also only three weeks due to being in rotations all the way up until that point. By the end I was so so done and so burnt out. I just felt numb. By the time I started my first sub-i, however, the mental accomplishment of "holy shit I did it" just elated me and gave me that boost I needed for auditions. Will say to pace yourself for auditions, interviews are honestly more draining than them due to auditions really letting people know who you are and your work ethic vs trying to make a lasting impression over zoom. Good luck! And live a life along the way ❤️
Jake nails it. You are a grace to medicine even as a student. Watching this got me anxious about whether your three months have harmed the Andy who is going to be a compassionate physician. I pray not. ND take care of guy you are we have come to love and for whom we feel affection. 😊
@@NDMD You know that folks like me who have been with you at least for a while in this venue can only be grateful for both your enthusiasm to become a fine physician and for allowing us to share in the journey in the way you have documented it. I'll tell you, BTW, that your videos give me insight as a college professor who has students who will be starting their own medical education in the future and to whom I would hope to offer reasonable advice,.
I'm sure all your efforts will pay off! I'm almost at the end of my first year (out of 6) in medschool and I now totally get what they meant by "medicine takes as much as you give it"!
Hey dude, I love seeing your journey to that M.D. You inspired me to make some content on my pathway as a pre-med and on the way to med school! Thank you and keep going!
Thanks to my friend that introduce me to her last week. Am happy the way she process her materials and how you will prepare yourself too for your coming exams. Even with the New update That’s coming up soon, She gave me me a clue of how the exam might come up for me and how I need to study Incase I schedule my test any time.
What a grueling time to go through, but you made it! Yay and double yay!! Your return to "normal" life was quite creative - purging/displacing the stress of one supremely challenging experience by voluntarily submitting yourself to another - definitely something completely different! I do have an issue to bring up, which is that I was very disturbed by the inclusion of your companion's inappropriate use of the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and I would hope that anything like that in the future would be edited out. Take care and keep going; I think you're going to make a great doctor.
I am a medical student from India and here the exams are so tough feels like crying hard. In India they give us very less time for preparation we have to face so much anxiety and depression. In addition to preparation of medical school exam we also have to study for NEXT exam for getting chance in PG college
i know it's a tough period, stay strong and it will be over soon. reach out to those around you and care for each other especially if your fellow classmates are struggling
You can, and I didn't. Those are lessons learned and a bigger talking point to the pressures many students feel as they study for board exams. Because there is so much information tested on these exams and so much of your career riding on these scores, every second spent away from studying feels like missed opportunities to learn and knowledge being lost. Of course this is not true, but these emotions are very common for students going through this period, myself included, and I want those who come to this channel to not make the same mistakes or at least be aware of those inevitable moments to best combat it with community.
it is part of his paid study schedule template with no real modifications. it was super easy to learn how to use especially if you are new to notion and i would say it is 1000% worth every penny. especially if you invest in it for both step 1 and 2, it helps you organize all your questions to get the most out of each question you do
Woah you're school makes you take Step 1, all shelves, and 2CK in a 3 month period???? How does one even divide that up? Props I can't even imagine what all of those are like back to back, do you think that is better than splitting it up amongst M2-beginning of M4?
I highly do not recommend doing it all at once. I always suggest now to take step 1 before core clerkships. Can you marathon them all? Yes. Will you want to? Absolutely not.
A lot of people say, if you can’t handle the stress then how are you gonna take care of patients? You can’t say my mental health ain’t good today so I’ll have to compromise patient care. This is not my words but it’s just something I heard a lot when I ever told studying step was stressful. Hope you have a good answer for this because I don’t
I think stress is just a part of life, especially of those in healthcare, and it’s perfectly natural to feel stressed about exams. They are important. As a child, we were stressed probably about making friends or maybe fitting in. As a teenager, maybe it was dating or getting into college. As a premed, we were stressed with mcat, extracurriculars, getting into med school, etc. then med school with step exams and residency applications. Then comes residency and paying off loans, getting married, getting divorced, etc. It’s normal to be stressed as a med student and about the step exam. But please reach out your support system and identify good coping strategies. I didn’t realize I had bad coping mechanisms until I was in medical school. As you grow as a person, you will learn to tackle on more stress and how to cope.
@cara1263 can't tell you how normal these thoughts can be specifically at the beginning. There's a reason why you're interested in this path, so never hide it away. You can do it too, good luck ✨️

Hey, do you have any tips for studying for weekly med school quizzes? What do you use?
Took the USMLE step 1 test last week and passed with 280 questions on my first try!! Huge Thanks to Mis ELISABETH HELEN, she is a game changer 😊✨
USMLE test is really frustrating, I can't believe I failed again after studying so much. 🤦♂️💔😭
A friend of mine told me of this same Mrs ELISABETH HELEN two weeks ago. She made her pass in her exam after she work with her.

Hey where can I find usmle step 1 recall Q videos? I don't think they're available on RUclips. Can anyone let me know?
Not in medicine: Why did you have to isolate yourself while studying for Step 1? Why couldn't you hang with friends once and a while?
You can, and I didn't. Those are lessons learned and a bigger talking point to the pressures many students feel as they study for board exams.
