    As an MS2 from Miami, FL living in Seattle, WA I'd like to say... thank you for your thoughtful and gentle words. I am encouraged. It's true... we end up exactly where we should. It's a beautiful thing to release control and let it be... Do the next thing and enjoy the season 💛

    4th year med student here going into IM, going into a heavy interview week tomorrow. I'm trying really hard to go back home to the DC/MD area where my family and friends are from. Post-interview, I have definitely had moments where I questioned my previous desire for specific programs I thought I was going to rank really high vs low. I'm so glad you put out this video the time it did. It's hard to answer these questions when all interviews are on Zoom/Teams, but this is what I need right now 😍

    Andy’s a superhero in the making 😁. This is my opinion, and not to be eccentric, but I've always felt like doctors were the closest things to demigods we have on this earth. Keep showing up, G! 👍🏾

    Nice that you included the Old Well at Chapel Hill....and under a Carolina blue sky.

    FYI - I’m from New Haven. Tweed airport is adding a lot of destinations all the time! Also, Bradley in Hartford is only an hr away. Love watching your videos!

    Where is quality of training on your list

    • @NDMD
      @NDMD  Месяц назад +3

      That goes without saying, but honestly with the exception of surgical specialties (where surgical autonomy is a big priority and does vary greatly with program), you will get fairly equivocal training amongst accredited residency programs. A lot of it is what you make of it, just because you go to an arbitrarily “higher ranked” program, doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to be a better doctor unless you take advantage of the opportunities given

      @@NDMD I dunno, I feel seeing broad/cool pathology is important for any medical specialty. For diagnostic specialties (rads, path), the in-house test menus are important. Not saying a higher ranked program is automatically better, but there are definitely tiers of programs that let you see more/less. For surgical specialties like you said it's very important for the autonomy thing and if you want to see cool surgeries that are only done at top programs. I am just an MS4 though and definitely not matching Yale-tier so what do I know lol.
