So stoked you posted this! If/when I grab here soon, definitely going with your links man! Surprised to hear that it's FASTER af than the native 32, wasn't expecting that!! The sigma 30 might give the 32mm competition worth the extra bulk it it measures up, too! I've got the adapted nifty 50 for that cheaper ~80mm equivalent with the canon (not viltrox) adapter, as well as the ef 85 1.8 that came in handy for headshots this week, along with the native 11-22, kit, 22 prime, and some older ef glass. But as much of a night owl as I am, that 16 might have to replace the 22 as my low-light. I've also seen that the size seems to let on more light than even the f2 to f1.4 difference may suggest, love to hear more of your opinion on that!! I'll probably find out for myself after I bounce back from the black Friday spree- [went ham on lighting, stands, tripod, reflectors, and an impulse m100 secondary cam with the 55-200 that is my rigged as my overhead/desk cam (that compact tele lens, kit lens, and m100 for ~$450 on Amazon- they just got me good, lol) Excited to start making moves now that I've finished building the studio!] Again though, CRUSHED the video, so cool to see it so fast (hope you get the views you deserve on it, man!) and sounds like you may keep this one as part of your kit!? On your notification squad for sure man, excited for your next stuff!
@@jonathanwise84 Awesome! Thanks for the support bro! I was pretty surprised on the AF speed as well, it's how I expected the native lenses to perform all along and here Sigma slam dunks it. If you don't need the light weight, compact size of the 22mm then the 16 is the clear winner for sure. One stop is definitely a very noticable difference for light, but I don't think the lens size adds any more to low light capabilities. It's more about build quality and design although the size could have advantages with regard to sharpness and light falloff at the edges of the image circle (and definitely seems to). A comparison of the 32 to the 16 might clear that up or even the 11-22 if I use the same F stop. It should require the same shutter speed and ISO for the same f stop, resulting in the same amount of light collected. But I bet the 16 will look way better than the zoom lens, at least in IQ. Should be a fun comparison to tackle. Keep the suggestions coming man! Love it! I often find just because it "should be" a certain outcome doesn't mean it appears that way after field testing.
Thanks for all of the lense reviews you are doing for ef-m mounts. I recently bought a Canon M-50 and am a complete noob but from seeing what you've produced I have hope someday I'll be able to make some good videos. The clips you took of those models look as good as anything you'd see on TV in my opinion, crazy you can do that with a 600 dollar camera and 450 dollar lense.
You have gone so far since WSOP videos 2-3 years ago. Im very impressed as an old school fan i am humbly jealous. my own progress crashed and has been stunted. i know my comment isn't relevent, just some praise and self gripe. Good luck I re-subbed.
Awesome videos man! Just gonna throw some video suggestions if you are able would really like to see some comparison videos against the Canon line - Sigma 16mm vs Canon 11-22mm - Sigma 16mm vs Canon 22mm - Sigma 30mm vs Canon 32mm
Can you do a comparison of the SIGMA 30MM F/1.4 EFM vs Canon 50mm 1.8 EF + speedbooster vs Canon 32mm F1.4 EFM? I'd like to know the best buy for shooting B-roll
I personally have both... I love the sigma 16mm all the way for my use! the sigma 16mm 1.4 is so much sharper and performs a bit better in darker situations.
The enhanced IS mode is more for simulating a tripod, and is best used for still shoots. You can get some really wierd results using enhanced mode for moving shoots
when i had nikon camera for photography.. i tried out few sigma lenses and i didnt really like them.. ended up with another nikon lens instead.. now i have a canon.. for videos.. being m50... which not too great for low light situation.. makes me want this sigma lens .. 11-22mm is really bad when shooting indoors or at night..
for real. Nikon lenses are great but the cameras just are terrible at vlogging. 11-22 is way too slow for anything remotely low light. It's too bad because I really like its IS.
I've been in the market for a new lens, looking at the 11-22 and the sigma 16mm... I would use it for interior/real estate/some vlogging. I'm just not sure if 16mm is wide enough for interior but that 1.4 is killer for indoors. Any help?
16mm definitely should be wide enough for interior shots but the 11-22mm gives that super large curved wow factor that realtors like to use. Makes the room look bigger than it really is. Personally, I'd have both and shoot the 16mm when you need more light; but you could also just pack your own lighting to light up the room for the 11-22. If you're doing video the IS from the 11-22 is invaluable.
Would you recommend this lens for at home use playing guitar? I currently use the kit lens 15-45mm on my m50 for all my videos and I wanna try something different out lens wise. This is in my mind but I would love input.
I used this lens with my M50 to record myself singing and play guitar and great 1080P video result. Except for my performance. 😅. The video is in my channel.
Hey i have the 16mm for the canon m50,,,,,,, its suppose to be blurry in background,,,,, but when i press record,,,,, everything just becomes clear,,,, not blurry before i press record,,,,, what am i doing wrong? What mode should i have it on?
Sounds like you're using a mode that automatically controls aperture. You can use aperture priority mode or full manual to choose a large aperture setting to keep the background out of focus. With video the frame rate limitation will require appropriate lighting for the aperture or, if in sunlight, maybe a lens filter
WTF? Why not just hold the shots for a few seconds? I can't appreciate the quality when there's a stupid lens flare effect slapped on top every two seconds. This isn't a review. It's a waste of time. Thumbs down.

This camera stuff is frustrating I bought canon m50 now I realize I need more items
I have purchased the Sigma 16mm f1.4 ef-m and have used it on my last three videos with my Canon M50. OMG it’s transformed my videos! So impressed 😎👍🏻
Do you wish you buy sigma 30 instead after using 16? Or you completely happy with 16? Bec iam confused
@@Mrahmedmostafaa no as I purchased all three 16, 30 and 56mm versions 😎👍🏻

I just picked up this lens and its great. I'm returning my 22mm f/2 from canon and the 11-22mm as well. This lens does both their jobs.
haha wow, I get the 22mm but the 11-22mm has that awesome IS that works wonderfully for b-roll. Just way too slow for low light.
