Everyone has different goals for their photography. That said, when I began, I thought that I would really need a telephoto. When I started actually making images, I discovered that I was using wide much more often. So thank you for this video.
I bought the 16mm a month ago, use ultra wide almost only for Nordic lights. So buy the Nikon 14-24 is not a good deal for me. The Viltrox is my first non Nikon lens and I’m impressed of its quality and pricing.
I *love* my Viltrox 40mm and 85mm's! I'd only had Nikkors before, but they are just as good IMO (actually better in the case of the 40mm!). I will probably get the 20mm next as this is a bit too wide and large for me, but it looks like a great lens, thanks for the review
What are the things I find missing from all of the new mirrorless camera systems is the lack of tilt shift lenses being available for cameras with the DSLR system cameras, which had three or four lenses available for each camera system, I think Fujifilm is the first camera company to bring out a tilt shift lens for these type of cameras as of right now.
That's a good thought. I do have a 50mm tilt-only lens for L mount by TTArtisan but they do make it for a few mounts. It doesn't shift, but maybe it could scratch the itch for you... amzn.to/3YJ5KTV
By the way, unlike Canon & Nikon APS-C Cameras that do not properly have support for super wide angle lenses, OM systems has fisheye lenses Such as the pro 8mm f/1.8 & 7-14mm f/2.8 & 8-25mm f/4 all of these lenses are fully weather sealed, canon, and Nikon do not properly support their APS-C line of lens, especially with the wide angle lenses side of things for their camera system.
I also want to see more APS-C lenses for my Nikon Z30. Sigma released some wide aperture primes, which are amazing, but I'd love to see more on the high-end telephoto side of things.
The Little Nikon 10-20mm AFP Lens is a true hidden gem: its tack sharp wide open (even if a bit slow) and is super silent. It’s even a small package when attached to the Nikon FTZ2 adapter
OM's customers have no other choice but to buy those high-priced lenses, so for OM it is viable to produce them and charge for them. Nikon or Cannon customers will prefer FX lenses on FX bodies if they are dedicated to spending larger sums, so they will go the FF way. If I want to buy a cheap(er) DX camera to save cost or size, I am not interested in paying my salary next to get a ultra wide ultra bright and bigger lens for it. It defeats the purpose, doesn't it. Furthemore, in the FF world higher-megapixel bodies have been available for over a decade by now and cropping is part of their feature set, making APSC lineup even less popular/demanded. These are opportunities which again do not exist w m43, making those lenses that you listed and some others possible.
Just received my Nikon mount 16mm f1.8 bought from Amazon and not happy at all. First, will not connect to my MacBook Pro with a tested/known good usb-c cable. Very soft at f1.8 and f2.0 and also at f16 and f22. Soft at f8. Guess, after reading the many reviews, I got a bad copy. At least Amazon has a 30 day return policy, so will be doing more testing.
Opened the Viltrox iPhone app on my MacBook Pro and was able to get it going - updated to ver. 1.08. Will go out and test between the Viltrox 16mm f1.8 and Nikkor 14-30mm f4 and see if there is any improvement.
Guess the ver 1.08 update really helped - now much sharper at f1.8 and even f22. Not as sharp as the 14-30mm but I'd expect that. Next test is some Milky Way shots this Wednesday.
Your time lapse clouds just blow me away, BETTER THAN BEING THERE because of the time lapse effect. Thank you, Leigh.
Thank you! The clouds were quite slow-moving so the timelapse truly is adding another dimension to the scene.

bought it and replaced my 14-30 with it. :)
Thanks for the review.
Sadly I missed the polarligts yesterday
the Viltrox 16mm is a great lens , I just got one a week ago, it 's well worth its money also for astro

I have the Viltrox 20mm and really like it. Wonder if you have tried the Viltrox 13mm and don’t like it?
The 2 viltrox lenses I am looking at for my Nikon are the 16mm and the 85mm
Finally a lens that makes me want to replace my old Rokinon 14mm 2.8 adapted f mount. I will gladly give up the 2mm for the wider aperture.
Nice video showing the Viltrox Lens.
nice to see the Nikon1 6.7 lens passing by, its such a great little lens
I have this lens in E-mount. It's a very good lens!
Thank you for sharing your experience!

Downloaded the iPhone app for Viltrox and appears that there is a firmware update from 1.03 to 1.08 through bluetooth ... but not updating.
