This is the best review of the Harbor Freight I’ve seen-you actually tested and demonstrated the various parts.Thank you!

I have a similar kit. On mine the striker that came with the farro rod worked well but I have read that it is not uncommon for the strikers that come with farro rod not to work well. I had bought some of the spork/knife/whistle thing separately and I found that the do a fine job as a farro striker to throw sparks and you also have that credit card took and the knife if those don't do well. Also, I have seen a video where a hard sharp rock will also throw sparks using a farro rod.
In my kit the whistle on the spork/knife/whistle thing works better if you pull the spork knife thing out of it.

It looks like a great stocking stuffer. Buying all those pieces individually will run you over $25, they're not the greatest tools but seem ok for the price.

Lol the sporks knife is for food, not sticks.

Yes it's for food but it should also serve as a backup it's a survival kit not a camping kit I'm just saying 😁👍

So glad you use an acoustic guitar piece rather than Loud Head Banging Heavy Metal! Beyond tasteless and appeals to i don't want to say who.....Ya know.... The kit is mostly wanton soup junk. Pretty much all of them targeted at entry level buyers will be.... I'd love to know when a kit is priced at a great value for decent and reliable quality. That's where the rubber meets the road! And someone stuck out there can rely on what they bought. Sometimes to save a life. Maybe their own! Thanks!

I honestly believe the little knife on the spork, was probably meant more for pairing and spreading than basic survival. But i always believed in honing my blades myself. Good knoves dont really need it. And thats obvious when one does the basic thumb and paper tests, but still it helps give the iser a more intimate understanding of there blade.

Price increased to $29.99 after 1 week. Decent kit for $25 but I think $29 is questionable.

I agree, I think they did that so when they have the 3 day sales it doesn't drop under $25. 👍

For $25 it’s ok, I would replace some of the crap with better stuff such as a good knife, add a bandanna, some fire starter
