NTA. You and your kids deserve to be at the funeral to have a last chance to say goodbye. The family acting shitty- that's on them. You just keep focusing on yourself and your kids.
I disagree, the kids deserve to have a proper goodbye. If you’re being banned from a funeral for absolutely ridiculous reasons, I say show up regardless
OP NTA to answer to the title. With that said, it looks like it's a cash grab on both sides. I only feel sorry for the ex who died, everyone sucks here.
How is it a cash grab from OP's side? Even if we were to assume that she wasn't friends with her ex instead of listening to what she said, if she is his beneficiary then she gets the money. She is raising their kids.
The conflict is about who gets what. That's why everyone sucks. You can't be a beneficiary, and not apart of the fight for what's left. Cash grabbing issues.
@@ketienne1021 Apparently, you missed the part about the “Annual Open Enrollment” they did TOGETHER every year, and made sure to list each other as their respective beneficiaries… It’s what the Ex wanted. Period.
You're only proving my point that they're all fighting for the bread. Her constantly mentioning her rights is a tale tell sign that there's going to be a fight at that funeral over money.

If you and your kids want to go to the funeral you should go to pay your and your kids respect to your ex-husband and your kids dad.
As harsh as it seems, if one isn’t welcome at a funeral, then don’t go.

NTA but now you know why his family never came to visit him in Texas.

Ah, good listening-comprehension skills there.
Some people are lacking in that area.
