Your videos are probably the best upland hunting videos out there. They’re so enjoyable to watch. It really feels like the quality of watching a hunting TV show, but not with all the boring stuff they do to fill time. Keep up the good work.
Best bird hunting videos around, period! Thank you for sharing Eric! Being from this neck of the woods, I look forward to your hells canyon trip videos every year.
What a great day! Moxie got so excited when you relocated her, and she let out those little barks. I know she's not supposed to do that, but it's so darn cute! When you walked up on the edge of that cliff at around the 25:00 minute mark, I just about soiled myself! Heights really freak me out! I probably wouldn't make a very good chucker hunter. That country is just spectacular!
Some great moxie dog work. Doesn’t get better than that double. Seriously one of the most satisfying things I have ever found. Getting a double in the steep stuff.
Another excellent video shot in some real estate I love. Your experience and number of birds is reminiscent of hunting I had in the 1970s, lots of birds and a heavy bag. My favorite quote: "I really felt like I had the drop on these birds." I just about laughed out loud, as you know, most times while hunting chukars that feeling means squat. I also want to thank you for your hunting ethic, there are so many hunting videos that give our sport a bad name, with fist pumps and whooping and hollering, your reverence for the place and the prey is admirable, and your treatment of your hunting companions (Tubbs and Moxey) is a wonderful testament to the sport and an ethic sportsman. Thank you Eric for another wonderfully wasted half hour.
Good evening Eric, hard work for a chukka or two. We love to watch both your dogs. We can't believe partridge live up there! It frightens us, we're too old now!! It's a magnificent place to shoot. Keep safe Malc and Ann England UK xx
Your videos are fantastic...I have been hunting these red legged banditsd my whole life...John day and Deschutes primariy with annual Snake trips for a couple days the last 20 years. I am now living in Idaho and will spend more time in the area. Look forward to bumping into you way up high sometime. Your videos are as good as they come. Non chukar hunters can't really understand what you doing in an average day....Keep it up...GV
Some off the best dog work ever and tubs retrieved off the second bird you not see go down and the long retrieval moxee made Memories that will never live you it’s the hard ones we remember most thanks for sharing agin
Great videos. Brings me back to the first and only time I’ve been chukar hunting with my Chesapeake. Walked 90 miles in a week for one bird! Admittedly he was more of a flusher than a pointer. Hard to capture the scale of the hunt but you do an excellent job. Thanks for the entertainment.
Thanks for taking us on that hunt with you. Your videos are always top quality and I love the dog work their incredible. To do what you do in a hunt like this you must work out regularly cause the average guy ain’t doin it. Thanks again Eric looking forward to your next one.
Sliding around on the loose rock took me back to when we use to Mountain Lion hunt in CO, when that stuff is snow covered its a little sketchy to walk on!! Looks like you were able to mark a few waypoints.😁You ever think of using a sling to keep your hands free when hiking around in that country??
Great job! Thanks for describing what it's like to work that country to get to your dog, etc. Also, I was really surprised to see the ruffed grouse! Thanks for sharing!
Just another spectacular upland bird hunting video.. they keep getting better & better! I go on one chukar hunt at the end of the season, but my knee is starting to object to the side-hilling & descending. Sad to think I won't be able to do it someday...
Eric, epic hunt and video. Good to see those bird numbers are strong along the Snake. I have hunted that country in the past and it surely looks like a good year. Good mix of young and older birds. Good green up also, we have had a pretty wet winter and that really helps. Those birds were nearly gone after the winter of 17 if you can believe that. Amazing how fast they bounce back. If we have a spring that allows for a good hatch next year will be even more epic. Best of luck making these awesome videos. Very few would take on the challenge of self filming a real Hells Canyon chukar hunt.
Another great video Eric! I loved Moxies excitement bark, she was amped up on that covey. She knew they were there. The flush and the double on that point were fantastic, it does not get better than when they get up in your face. This country here in Idaho takes tough boots, what are you wearing? I am sold on Kenetrek for that steep, rocky country, saves the ankles and my feet really like how they fit. One other thought, are you carrying a Garmin Inreach for an emergency? When I hunt solo, I like having it on me in gnarly country. You needed a net for the razor cliff flush!!
Thanks Kent! The last couple years I’ve been wearing Salewa’s. They fit me well and have been durable. I plan to try Crispi’s and Kenetrek when they wear out. Yes, I have a Spot device for satellite communication. 👍
Bro. I can only imagine being ther. Freakin majestic! So so jealous wow . I don’t think people know what kinda hard work it takes to climb 2000 ft to do what you’re doing . Be safe man it’s also dangerous being all alone In the middle of no Wer. Love your videos !
Hey Eric….if you’re on the Oregon side of things you only can have a max of 3 cartridges in your gun for upland including the chamber. There’s a sequence in your video you shoot 4 times…may want to “edit” that
I really love your amazing videos Eric but did you have the plug removed cuz you took 4 shots on the bird up the spiney rocky area at 22 mins15 secs during the video
Your videos are amazing, well done. What shot and choke size are you using? I hunt quail in SoCal and have been happy with IC and 6's. We have to use steel here so 6's are all we use for dove and quail.
First, thanks for the awesome videos. Sorry if someone has already asked, I couldn't find it in the comments. What load are you shooting for Chukar here? What do you shoot for Quail and Pheasant, if different?
Eric. Like the way you let your feelings out. Only bird hunters realize those thoughts during a great hunt. Do you use hand/arm signals to your dogs on blind retrieves ? I am a UKC retriever guy who uses them on blinds. Your stamina must be from walking the "Hills o' Brown County". Later. Doug.
I don’t use and signals for blinds but they would be handy in this terrain. My experienced dogs are really good at searching for dead so I’ve gotten away with just saying “dead bird” a thousand times until they find it.😁
Hell's is truly special. If you're lucky, you could find all upland species Oregon has except pheasant. Mt/valley quail, huns, chukar, blues and ruffies. Eric you didn't run into any quail?
It's better once it snows. First of all, it's less miserable hiking. Second, the birds will hang out on South facing slopes and are in "conserve energy" mode, which makes them more likely to hold.
Greetings Eric. Good as always. What drone are you using? Do you like it? Any problems with it interfering with your dogs? I have been thinking of getting one for about 2 years now and just haven't pulled the trigger yet. But it certainly adds a cool dimension to the video making process for sure.
Eric, have you navigated through the FAA stuff yet regarding recreation vs commercial flying? I'm reading as if I post a drone video on my web page, and it generates business, then I have to go through the 107 vs. recreation process. Any input? I've contacted my local drone training business but haven't heard back yet. Thanks! Andy

I never tire of these videos. The dog work, the HOLDS and of course the hard work is simply astounding. I hope @benelliusa comps you a gun for everything you put it through.😁
Obviously not the type of hunting where you’d take your $5000 dollar shotgun…lol but oh my god what a hunt. I’m moving to an area in Eastern Washington where there are quite a few chukar and I can’t wait to chase them you inspire me.
Eric here in North Carolina, western,,I have killed over five hundred ruffed grouse many of them around 1800 to 2400 feet in elevation, in the seventies through the nineties I commonly flushed coveys of six to ten birds ,,,it’s not that way anymore.

Much appreciated, thanks! 👊
Great stuff. Many memories for me at 81 years of age, with my wire hair and gsp out of Clarkston. Thanks.
Great chukar video. I've chased them for fifty years and this video really depicts what good chukar hunting is really like.
Thank you!

I still love the little bark, but yes I Know I shouldn't. Beautiful country. Thank you again for sharing these with us.
I feel the same way…thanks! 👍

I really enjoy your videos, Eric. Thanks for taking the time to make them worth watching.

Thanks Gordon! You’re right…chukar hunting has to be experienced to be understood. 👍
Man that gun sliding on those rocks made me cringe😂 great video
I thought the same thing. That Benelli Ethos is a sweet gun, Eric is probably a hunter more than a gun guy.
I hear ya…but this hunt isn’t for heirloom guns! 😁
@@ericforrester1 Staying upright on a talus slope is quite and accomplished.

I film quite a bit of grouse hunting and just discovered your chukar videos.. now I'm obsessed with chukar hunting! Beautiful area!!!
Yep, beautiful country!

I really love your amazing videos Eric but did you have the plug removed cuz you took 4 shots on the bird up the spiney rocky area at 22 mins15 secs during the video
several states have no 3 shot limit for upland birds... yank that plug and blaze away!
Great video as always! Do these birds live up to their reputation as the toughest upland birds to hunt?!
They are the toughest I have hunted…so I think so.

I was shooting boss 5’s here. Quail I just shoot 7.5 target loads and a same for pheasant.
Epic episode eric
Lovely place enjoyed each bit
Don't you think sling can make your job bit easy ?
I tried a sling but I don’t like the way it can interfere with shooting.
@ericforrester1
in start i was also against the sling
But now i am used to it
Handy stuff.
What dreams are made of un real I love these videos
