Have you ever submitted to Anacs or ICG? Anacs is pretty tight with grades and often times crosses up a grade to PCGS. ICG can swing 2 grades either direction... But both give great service for the money...
Being a very serious graded silver dollar collector, what surprised me the most was last year when I started buying rarer ASEs and when getting ready to purchase this 1995-W Proof ASE I did a comparison between PCGS AND NGC and you won’t believe the difference between the two in grade level 69 and 70. I’m so glad I started with PCGS years back.
I've been collecting coins for about 6 years now. I really started in 2020 with quarters because I knew they would be rarer and worth something eventually. I recently bough three PCGS graded state quarters that are silver proofs and I've been put at ease that they're genuine. I would have to take a hammer to the cases to get them out. And like you said, a genuine grader uses sealed cases, and the ones I received are very sealed. Great video. Thank you for helping me learn more about my hobby.
Will try not to rant too long… But truth is each company also has categories where they do better than others… or specialize in. Example, ANACS is best for ancient and errors/varieties. They recognize more errors than all the others. PCGS is best for retailers and those that sell coins. Plus they are best for Morgan’s and ASE. NGC is great for collecting and selling but also great for all coins. Finally ICG is a great company and those that think they “Over Grade” I beg to differ and have seen many times a cross over some back higher than the original ICG holder. THey are also newer and only been around 25 years or so. Started by some former NGC graders. They are in Tampa and NGC in Sarasota. They are best for modern coins and collections. They are also great for not having a membership and getting a lot of coins graded for a good value. If I was selling coins then I would not use ICG as much. ANACS was started by the ANA… they invented grading and slabbing coins. They were the very first and know what they are doing… I love PCGS and have a ton of their slabs… same with NCG but What I hate is the pricing and the control they have on population…. YES! They control the population and YES they purposely give coins a grade just to make sure there are not too many in the highest grade… If you just want to get a coin validated and you plan on keeping it then go with ICG and Save some money….. same with ANACS.. and if you have a cool error or a special variety then go with ANACS… My opinion… I know but it is a fair comment.
Thanks for the video Silverpicker, very informative :)
Its always good mentioning that NGC, by also being into the Ancient Coins market, does NOT guarantee its authenticity. They wont slab a coin they think is fake, but there have been multiple instances of fakes being slabbed, and NGC does not take responsibility for them.
At the end of the day, numismatists need to remember they are buying the COIN, not the plastic. To be a good coin collector, you need to understand a lot about coins. Grading companies are not a panacea and shouldn't replace studying numismatics.
Wow that's really interesting. I didn't realize that NGC doesn't guarantee ancients. That said, I've heard most ancient collectors don't want the coins graded at all
Footnote: slabbed ancient coins are NOT certified. Only graded. They won't slab one they think is fake but they do not guarantee the coin at all.
Yep, just learned that. Kind of nuts to pay for a slab without any guarantees. Maybe that's another reason ancient collectors don't like graded coins
@@Silverpicker Putting an ancient coin in a slab makes zero sense. They can't be graded in the same way modern coins can either.
@@Silverpicker The one thing that DOES make slabbing an ancient a good idea would be to attach hoard provenance to it. That is one solid argument for it. Most coins don't have hoard provenance though.
I feel that you are doing a disservice by putting ICG above ANACS. ANACS is the oldest coin grading service and a great option without having to join a club as with NCG or PCGS. Now NGC and PCGS are better services, but ANACS is the 3rd rank service over any others.
I don't disagree. I think that ICG is more strict on grading, but you are right that ANACS is seen more as #3
@@Silverpickertime to remake your video bro
Anacs and ANA were once the same. Anacs/ANA wrote the book on grading.
Thank you so much. I just bought two graded coins both NGC so you took a bit of a weight off my mind. Untill now I had no clue if the holders are good or not. I will be buying more soon.
I fell victim of INB in while buying a couple coin lots on eBay!! Daniel and his videos hep me after the fact, taught me to identify these companies!
On INB. I work at a coin shop and one day a guy came in with a bunch of stuff we were willing to take, but not worth a fortune. I remember there were some Roman coins in INB holders, they shook
around which isn’t entirely shocking for an ancient coin, just not the best look for any grading company in general. It seemed authentic, just one of those ancient coins that really just has value to that one person looking for an old coin. Anyways, the main guy at my shop has a page of slabs from counterfeit companies, so both he can see which ones not to trust, and to show others who may not know. I recommend doing that for anyone in a similar situation.
Send me a link! That's great
@@Silverpicker When I said page I meant like a physical binder page for knockoff slabs that he’s acquired over the years. Do you still want it?
I get a lot of inb slabs in grab bags. Not a fan of them usually break them open and put the coin in a flip
Yep, makes sense lol
Whoops picked up a sgs 70 silver Kennedy and thought the grading was weird good thing I saw this, cracking it open immediately
Thanks for making these videos to help new coin collectors
My pleasure!
Liked the info. sir
🕵♂💖💖💖👍🇵🇭...
I appreciate more of the PCGS & NGC coin slab holders stands-out more better for their anti counterfeiting feature and maybe more accessible all over the WORLD b'coz of the company's reputable brand name & a eye for best standards, gaining the TRUST of people from different walks of life.
Now CAC coin slab is also making a new jump in the market with a very prominent coin GRADER in the industry.
Got Li'l bit confused...
🕵♂😅👍👍👍💖🇵🇭
Hey silverpicker! Had a great time at your auction. Got the last grab bag. Hope you did well. Good luck on your new collections
Thanks so much Daniel! Hope you enjoy it!!
Each country may have it's own grading company. ICCS is the go to grader in Canada because they know Canadian Coins very well even better than PCGS or NGC. I just don't like their sealed flips they tend to use. That's why PCGS and NGC are gaining ground in Canada.
Thanks for giving me more info you are the best
Would like to me you one day so I can have my own u-tuber channel in Vietnamese
That's a great idea! Maybe you can start by translating my videos and putting in closed captions. This way you could see if there's a market :)
I have an ICG graded Eisenhower dollar with a die crack that has nothing identifying the die crack on the slab.
ICG is an amazing coin grading service... I would put ANACS and ICG even. Just like i put NGC and PCGS even It's true that ANACS is the first and oldest coin grading service but they've obviously been past up in quality, accuracy and consistency.
The Sacagawea was once in my collection. It's made rounds.
Wow that's wild! I didn't get that one from you, did I?
@@Silverpicker Through our grab bag swapping, I got it from a grab bag, sent it to someone else and it made it to you.
The only graded coins allowed to be sold on EBay are PCGS, NGC, ICG and ANACS…. Not other slabs and grading companies are not allowed. Some sneak through but they are not listed properly
Interesting, I didn;t know that. They definitely manage to sneak through
I’ve got two INB holders but they have widow’s mite coins in them. There is no grade given or implied. The older is a handy way to handle and store a super small coin, which I assume to likely be genuine or maybe a good fake. I’m not collecting the little copper coin, I use it for story illustrations with kids.
ICG and ANACS have their place when it comes to authentication, but when it comes to grading, particularly grading above MS64 or a where a single grade point can be a $1000 jump, I avoid - the modern ones anyway, as I do like what I see with the old soapbox slabs. I've also seen enough obviously dipped Morgans in ICG/ANACS holders with AU50/53/55 grades, looking dead with no luster to avoid those as well.
I have four INB "GRADED" ancient Greek coins that you can barely make out the strike on that are not even sealed in the right size container and are probably worth like $5 total.
Thanks for the content
My pleasure, John!
I ordered a roll of wheat pennies and an INB holder with a regular 1993 penny was included as an "Extra Gift". LOL I'm sure the holder cost more than the coin. It was kinda' like getting one of those vials of "Gold Flakes". YAY! (The comic relief of coin collecting).😆
😂
I have a few INB “graded” wheat cents. Brilliant Uncirculated, and yet worn and Brown. I just hold onto them because of how bad it is lol.
Good info
I got an ancient "pirate coin" in the exact holder!
You just gained a new subscriber
Why thank you, Sir! Welcome!
New subscriber here 🙂🙋♂️ I like Pcgs and Ngc top dogs..
I remember going to the fair when i was a kid and the runners of the rides would see if you were and are big enough to go on the ride. Also you had to have the right ticket.. or know the one running it or drop a coin in and they may look away while you think you are on. The one thing i new was that they were and are a bissness that is into making moneys. They are not gonna give everyone the go to the front of the line and put you in the best car to sit in. If they did so there would be no rides at all. I don't go to the fair anymore, its for the birds.
How do you know who to trust?
Thank you for the giveaways I got the 1 ounce Buffalo round really appreciate it
Congrats Baline! Also, noticed you supported my Patreon! Will send you a longer thank-you...but Thank you! 😁
ANACS is very competitive on fees, their grading is as strict as the "big 2", and their customer service is A+. I've used all 3...nothing wrong with ANACS!!
Couldn't have said it better myself 😂
Are silver proof sets any good other than weight of silver
Depends on the date
ANACS-Used to be ---American Numismatic Authentication & Certification Service.....NGC Numismatic Guaranty Corporation. and yes, the 1975 No `S' Dime Proof set is $500,000. The 1968 S proof set is $10.00 Date & condition matters.
PCI slabs used to sell very well in the 80s- ask heritage auctions about that.
Interesting. Thansk!
If I have a coin that I feel is worth money I send it to annex get their grade then if its good grade i send to pcg ngc anacs is in the top 3
Most coins in SGS holders come in at MS-70, ha ha ha . i have several silver jefferson nickels Fron SGS at 70 grade. thanks to Dan's post on slabs i didn't overpaid for them, paid AU price for them. Who would think you would have to become an expert on slabs to collect coins without getting burned
Lol yep
I have seen a handful of the crappy ones at my local coin shop. I left them there lol.
Smart lol
What's the place in Sarasota FL, I heard they are good, I know GMA is also down a little further south than them. Idk if they just do cards and comics only, or if they do all grading at GMA?
If I’m correct, ICG is located down in Florida.
@@adamm6320 it's in Sarasota so which ever one that is. I seen it on one of the history channels shows.
Never heard of GMA. NGC is in Sarasota. ICG is in Tampa.
@@saltwatersaddletramp7229 yeah gma is mainly for card grading I believe they been around for like 10 years or so not many ppl know about them I believe they are in Venice or somewhere close to that.. is it gma in SS I thought there was a S at the end of the 3 letters it was on the oak Island side show where they help ppl look for stuff also.. they are in Vero and did some sand hunting with a friend, he sent them to this place I'll watch the episode and see what it's called.
I’m a collector of the old school PCGS rattlers.
Hi there. I have some INB slabs that contain “proof” coins. They all look legitimate to me. Is this possible? No damage, the shine is there, identical to a US Proof Mint set that I have… Should I be concerned that they are fake?😊
The coins are probably not fake, you just can't trust the grades
Do they make fake icg graded ones?
Never seen it
I have tons of themI get from people in grab bags. I usually just take the coin out and throw away the case
Yep, exactly
I got INB slabbed coins off several ebay sites
What can Silver actually be worth per Oz, when the price is not suppressed?
You might have a better chance asking in the live chat, he’s responding a lot there
@@eliyahuzylberberg171 I did. No takers.
@@MikeSmith-xj6jc oh well, but the video is still fresh you have a chance of a response. You can also message him on instagram i think

Have you ever thought about searching a junkyard for some goodies? Think of how long some of those vehicles have been sitting there!!
I wish, but no junkyards near me. Also, not sure it would be allowed
@@Silverpicker awe man see down here in Florida they work as a you pick it! So you're allowed to walk the yard and go through the vehicles. You have to bring your own tools to pull a part if you need it! I found a vintage LV Luco bag in a wrecked escalade. Looked it up and it's a 1500 dollar bag. I was going to use the LV leather to make something else, my buddy is a leather worker and he was like bro you realize this is a vintage bag, take it to LV and they will fix it all up like new for free. Do not take it apart!! I'm so ready to go dig around in there for old coins, think of how long some of those cars been sitting there! Will sure let you know if I find anything good.. I really need some pro advice on what I already have, there are some assholes on the other channels that try and scam newbies out of their stuff for almost nothing. I snapped on the guy he offered me 10 bucks for my collection! I told him this isn't ebay or Facebook marketplace, you're taking all the fun out of it for us new guys trying to learn. I can see if it was in a private message or email and you showed what you had and negotiate a fair price. Other than that they should be banned for doing that imho. Haven't seen that here your page seems like ppl have a lot more respect here. You're my go to channels to look up stuff!! Thanks for all your effort and hard work you put into it!!
@@eye_am_me_8597 Wow, that's so cool! Definitely let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching my videos :)
The only one I have in a I.N.B. Slab is a Constantine The Great Era Roman Empire coin 330 AD and it’s in terrible condition. I’m pretty sure it was a gift so if it’s not real I didn’t lose anything but it’s in such bad shape it has to be real. 😂
Sir..I like to start my coin collecting... Can i buy some coins from you?
Yes! Come to my next whatnot auction (plus you get $10 off with my link!)! whatnot.com/invite/silverpicker
Even at the most revered PCGS the grades are merely opinions of the people grading the coin(s). There are many stories of collectors cracking out a PCGS MS64 Morgan dollar and getting it regraded MS65, and vice versa. Even more than a 1 pt difference sometimes! Yet another reason to buy the coin, not the slab.
Yep, it's reasonable that grades might be +/-1 or so, but getting the dates wrong or other details wrong is unacceptable
I have 5 meteorites in INB slabs. When I scan the bar code, it takes me to a bunch of random sites in India.
I've got an inb coin but it's an ancient Roman coin
I really wish anacs would of stayed with the soapbox holders lol they are so much better than their new ones.
I got 2 .
I have 2 of the fake holders but tge guy I got tge coins from didn't rip me off it was more just a holder then a grad an that's what he told me
I got some fake rated coins off amazon I checked the number like you show and they where not in the system I got refunded and why fake a quarter they where cameo women quarters faked grading
Luckily you were able to get refunded!
ANACS should not be left behind! History it has. And low cost for services.
Agreed
never say that mongral slab an would buy a slabed coin...lke them raw...
from mint to gradng co. should be ms 70 to much polotics n grading...
WNBA is the best. LOL I am biased because I have 2 daughters and we all enjoy the way women play as a team.
you think these are bad, I got coins off of Publisher Clearing house ha yeah cost is high and I thought maybe I can get a treasure NOPE
It’s not like they have a program computer like read these coins as humans so everyone’s opinions gonna be different
Someday they will, I am sure
INB box for gift
ICG is terrible. they are not accurate with grades by a long shot. i don't know why they are even considered in the same company as ANACS who also has a tendency to over grade. PCGS and NGC are prima donnas. they are the only TPG's i would buy.
Whatnot sellers have ALOT of INB coins lol
I know, you just gotta avoid those ones
it makes a coin worth more than its worth...its not good to buy but better to sell...only f t were a rare coin would i get it slabed only to sell...waste of money
;) I'm in Ca and really never came across a quarter CA so if you don't want it you can send it to me hehe hehe hehe
another acronym ncaa fbs
I just went over to whatnot and the first live auction that came up was an individual selling coins in that really bad coin appraisal company. That gave me a bad taste real quick. I will not use whatnot. I’ll stick to stacks and bowers.
Man can you Ramble on.
rft
Crazy this guy feels icg is better than anacs that is not correct icg is not good on grades but he has a lot to learn he will make a few mistakes that one day he will realize is not good for his ideas
You don't really Know what you are Talking about SLAB COIN... Buy the Coin not the Holder.. Bwahaha.. Authentication is very important to Multi Million US Dollars coin specially in Major Dramatic Error and Varieties like 1995 Penny On Dime Planchet -ACG MINT 💞💯👑👑
