Had a gold coin lost by USPS and glad I had it insured. Just be aware that even if you insure it for $300 they will require proof from you that it is worth that much. Sales receipt or invoice or some proof. They will not pay out if they disagree even if you paid insurance for $300 coverage.

The open or not question is also important for the next buyer of an ungraded coin if he wants to grade it. If a buyer is hoping for an MS70 he wants it in brown box unopened - because if it is opened the seller may have inspected it and sold it because in part it is flawed. @Silver Dragons For insurance-USPS only pays out for the purchase value. If you paid $80 dollars but people are paying $800 for it, you get $80. Registered has a "Chain of Custody". If it's in your (the Postal Employee's) custody then they signed for it.
watching this while on hold with PCGS right now (2h:39m:and counting) cuz according to their site the special label cant be used with other special designations like first strike🤷♂️
@@MrEnergyUA Yes, Update: You CAN get the v75 label with the first strike. I misunderstood the way it was described on the web site "(i.e. PCGS First Strike "Flag" Label, other PCGS Special Labels)". I also use PCGS. From what I was told when I started sending expensive coins thru USPS is to only use registered mail even though its expensive. They do not offer insurance on money of any kind and the insurance you pay for will not be payed out unless its registered mail. You gotta read fine print. I guess you could lie about what you sent but I dont risk it. With registered mail every postal person that your package gets handed off to will have to sign for it so there is a trail.
Wow that is even more expensive than I had seen! Why people pay over 60$ to have regular silver eagles graded makes absolutely no sense to me! The coin has to be worth a fortune for it to be worth paying that much to grade. Here in Canada CCCS is our equivalent to PCGS and NGC and they charge 12 CAN$ to grade a coin. They don't put them in slabs, they use sealed flips. But still, with shipping that is less than half the price. And even so, it's still too expensive for pretty much any bullion of low value coin.
I absolutely hate trying to send something into PCGS or NGC! I watch these videos every time I want to send in coins. Everybody makes it seem like it’s not that hard, but wait until you have a gold coin, a penny, I’m Mexican, coin, and a medal to send it all at once. It’s just unnecessarily complicated.
So, two nits I feel the need to pick. First, it's my impression that the USPS doesn't insure coins on Priority, only Registered. Second, if you use card, they store it in their system, they don't post the information on the shipping manifest you showed.
The whole unopened box issue with PCGS is why I went with NGC. I wanted to now if I was one of the few lucky people to get the limited number of hand signed COA's ( I did not :( ) I sent in the End of WW II 75th Silver Medal and the $25 Gold coin. Here's hoping we get 70's Silver Dragons...!!!
Why submit it for grading? The v75 ASE is already in proof condition. Won't people want it to stay in the plastic circular capsule so it fits in the box?
Shouldn't all the v75 coins be first strike, they all sold out the first day, so thereore there is technically only one strike since no more will be made.
wow i wish I watched this first. I spent $150 for gold to get 3 coins graded. but only 2 came in so I only submitted 2. I thought it was $40 a coin so I figured this was a good value. Looks like I should have done the $70 regular and $16 per submission (plus first strike) to save a fair bit of money!
I had the same question. Their website it confusing, and I didn't want to wait on hold for 133 minutes (yes - over 2 hours) to talk to a person. Their website says not to use extra packaging - so no blue box? They want the coin in a flip, but it's a proof and I don't want it scratched.... but they don't accept capsules. Geez.. 🤦♀️ I ended up just putting the capsule in a flip and sending it registered mail. Maybe they will forgive rookie mistakes. We'll see...
I understand your frustration. I did one with quicker deliver by UPS and they still haven’t received them! My regular shipping one with USPS will be delivered today!
Could you add a video showing us exactly how to submit the 2020 End of WWII Silver and Gold to NGC? Not the medals but the American Eagles. I've never done it before and want to make sure I get the bells and whistles like if they have a cool label like the one in this video
In NGC video tutorials theyre showing that gold requires a different service selection than the silvers. Is that the case with PCGS or is the way youve laid it out here the same for any coin?
My issue with the first strike is what’s the point on coins or bullion that sell out day one? They are are all first strikes? Is it just because you have people that collect labels?
@@SilverDragons47 that is silly lol I can get the v75 labels for history. I didn’t choose the option for mine I refuse to pay for a service that is moot point for a sold out coin.
I wish you covered how to send the coins in as in what flips to use how to put the labels and how to package it that’s what I’m struggling with I’m a first time sender and got Saflips been watching videos but no one explains the whole process to the mailbox id love to see someone do it so I could copy the exact process I have monster toned Eagles I want to send in!! Can you do a video on the actually process you do hands on
Can you specify to have the COA encapsulated ONLY if it's signed? The new peace dollars had a very small percentage of the COA's signed, in which case having it encapsulated would make sense, but if it's not signed, it would be money thrown away.
Any purpose in the gold shied? I had someone send in a coin for me for $60 and then pgcs charged my card $70. So it seems it would have been cheaper should I have sent it in myself. Thanks to you that's what I'll be doing with my 2nd coin. I know the guy who sent it in for me had it with ahold shield as he said it's included in the voucher for free. So I would select for example the Gold membership for $149 and then the 4 vouchers will be available for the very first coin? Or only for the coin proceeding this one? You were super clear. Thanks for explaining this all. As well what's all those extra stuff I saw you had meantioned in the notes of the website for extra stuff? I have the same coin you're talking about the silver V75 which I want graded to flip on eBay or a local buyer. Would want the most value of it. But not buying anything that's not needed for resale. Thanks again for your amazing channel.
Hey Silver Dragons 👋🏾 so I have a preorder Silver Eagle type 2 on it’s way, is that a good coin to get graded if I’m just starting out? What about a 2020 libertad? And going forward how can I ensure I’m able to get the FS label? Let me know! Thanks tor the channel!
On the Declared Value how does that work ? 🤔 ... Is it the retail value that you determined you would want to sell at or just so to say a particular number you prefer to start at in a event hypothetically speaking to auction off if so
Have you ever submitted a whole set for grading? Like a special mint set or limited edition silver set? anything like that? Just wondering if you send each coin separately...
QUESTION - My younger sibling opened the brown box it came in but didn't touch the blue case/small box it came in, would I have a problem sending it to them as is still within the 30 days. I did notice my invoice is in the box so wasn't sure if everything it shows on the mint site is inside the blue case/small box since I didn't open it. Thank you for the step by step video def made my first grading experience be pleasant!
Thank you for this video. I have never had any of my coins graded so I don't really know how to do it. Your video helped a lot. I'm still having trouble understanding when you chose max value $2500 or max value $300, etc. I don't know the value of my coins because they've never been appraised so how do I know which Service Level to choose? I hope that makes sense. Thank you!
I just ordered a couple of the 2021 SAE Proofs and I'll probably sell one eventually. I notice there's quite a substantial resale difference between the graded SAE's, but there were over 300K of these produced, so is it a sucker's bet to spend the dough for grading, or is it the good investment? I'm not a member nor a serious collector, but I wanted to grab a couple of these, as it's the last year - and they sold out so fast......
Wow. I didn’t know about what made something a “First strike.” I missed out on that. I was going to get my 2021 American eagle designer set graded, and it’s way too late for that. How much does it really hinder the value?
I’ve got a 1909 Indianhead five dollar coin. I don’t know if it’s the old one or not. What is the retail value of that? My Grandfather is giving it to me for me and my wife to hopefully have enough to buy a home I’ve seen anywhere ranges vary greatly
Super helpful video! Thank you! Question...what are your thoughts on the 400 year anniversary mayflower coins coming out? As well as the last (of the current design) 2020 one ounce American eagle coming out? Do you foresee value?
I just got a call from PCGS and they said I had to do a submission for each different label I wanted. I had three different labels for my submission and they said all would be a separate s&H fee. Wow! That sounds like money making scheme. Did you mention that here in your video or is that new? I actually wanted to take advantage of the submission and added a couple of coins which now require extra shipping & handling fees. I'm still very confused by this.
Does the voucher cover the full cost of the submission including all the attributes like first strike and coin labels or does it just pay for the grading service? Also if you want pcgs to send back all the original mint packaging clamshell, capsule, COA etc do you just write that in the comment section, is there a fee for that?
No, it ONLY covers the grading fee. Special label is still $10, First Strike still $18, processing fee per order $10 and then your return shipping fees. Also I posted in another message you can't even use a new member cert for the V75 Gold for example because it is valued at MORE than the regular grading limit and has to go Express.
no the vouchers only cover the “service” but they will work for gold shield so it’s a $40 value if you would normally be sending in a regular service level grading with gold shield 🔥🐉
Hello SD! If you send PCGS or NGC a sealed box directly from the US Mint for grading with your personal infor/receipt, booklets, ect. from purschase will they return it with the graded coin. Thanks!! Great video!! 👍
What do you think of the 2020 ASE graded by PGCS first strike emergency from San Fransisco mint? And what label is best? In other words what's the best labels? Do the black labels have any significance?🐉🐉🐉
I have some morgan silver dollars coming eventually from the mint. Your saying the cardboard box the mint shipped them in, I shouldn't open it and sent that shopping box directly to pcgs? Did I understand that right?
Coins 🪙 graded by NGC I prefer because I usually get my comics through CGC that’s part of NGC. I just like the cases and I don’t know about coins but CGC comic value are more then CBCS or PGX.
How much does a cost per coin to get checked please comment back and when you send Coins you have to ensure them for what amount please comment back thank you
The fees scorecard is really a total rip-off. Grading, for me, only makes sense for super rare numismatic items that typically are worth tens of thousands of dollars (US) and much more.
Had a gold coin lost by USPS and glad I had it insured. Just be aware that even if you insure it for $300 they will require proof from you that it is worth that much. Sales receipt or invoice or some proof. They will not pay out if they disagree even if you paid insurance for $300 coverage.

And even so, it's still too expensive for pretty much any bullion of low value coin.
the regular silver eagles get sent in with “bulk orders” and it’s much cheaper 🔥🐉
Exactly! Nobody should get modern eagles graded lol they aren’t worth it
Great video. Very thorough. 👍 Thank you.
thanks so much! 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 best video on youtube explaining the process imo and as this is my first time getting a coin graded was very helpful.
Great video and lots of great information thank you
you are welcome and thanks for watching! 🔥🐉
Great info bro
Great video as usual✅
Do video on last year 2019 reverse proof to v75 how value could stay up or down.
value went down.... there are a lot of factors... the biggest is will people collect these in the future 🔥🐉
Good information, thanks. Hot dang that's pretty expensive. I'll just stick to buying them already slabbed lol.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
you are welcome! 🔥🐉
Thanks! I will probably just bring it to my LCS and they will ship to PCGS. I get out of paying shipping that way lol
nice bro none of my LCS offer that 🔥🐉
Thanks for the info.
The grading garantees it's genuine, and a PF70 with all the trimmings will garner the highest $ on resale.
no collectors want that slab 😂🔥🐉
Shouldn't all the v75 coins be first strike, they all sold out the first day, so thereore there is technically only one strike since no more will be made.
Good video
wow i wish I watched this first.
I spent $150 for gold to get 3 coins graded. but only 2 came in so I only submitted 2. I thought it was $40 a coin so I figured this was a good value.
Looks like I should have done the $70 regular and $16 per submission (plus first strike) to save a fair bit of money!
the priority mail plus insurance was almost the same as registered mail that included insurance.
Silver Dragons. A quick rookie question. With the v75 coming in a capsule, and PCGS saying to remove it and put in a flip, suggestions?
I had the same question. Their website it confusing, and I didn't want to wait on hold for 133 minutes (yes - over 2 hours) to talk to a person. Their website says not to use extra packaging - so no blue box? They want the coin in a flip, but it's a proof and I don't want it scratched.... but they don't accept capsules. Geez.. 🤦♀️ I ended up just putting the capsule in a flip and sending it registered mail. Maybe they will forgive rookie mistakes. We'll see...
@@SilverGem1 So got my v75 today in a shipping box that is 18x20.... No kidding....
Yeah, I have the same question. I do not feel comfortable sending a proof in the mylar flip only.
@@tomtague9720 I sent mine in the mint capsule and mylar. They sent the capsule back. No problems (expect a MS69 DCAM grade......)
@@daniellinnabary2458 thank you so much for the follow up!
I still haven't recieved my v75! Sitting there saying label created 🤯
I understand your frustration. I did one with quicker deliver by UPS and they still haven’t received them! My regular shipping one with USPS will be delivered today!
last year it took 13 days for me to get mine 🔥🐉
@@SilverDragons47 one of my orders is still under “processing!” Is that normal?
Mine just shipped. It said label created for 3 days.
@@oldmanjenkins771 My medal just came out of processing yesterday and is now shipped. Im sure yours will be soon.
Could you add a video showing us exactly how to submit the 2020 End of WWII Silver and Gold to NGC? Not the medals but the American Eagles. I've never done it before and want to make sure I get the bells and whistles like if they have a cool label like the one in this video
ngc doesn’t have that label offered... i’m sorry but I don’t use them. I won’t be making a video but silver seeker did a good one last year for ngc 🔥🐉
In NGC video tutorials theyre showing that gold requires a different service selection than the silvers. Is that the case with PCGS or is the way youve laid it out here the same for any coin?
My issue with the first strike is what’s the point on coins or bullion that sell out day one? They are are all first strikes? Is it just because you have people that collect labels?
yep people want to see it on the label... it’s so silly lol 🔥🐉
🤔 ... Is it the retail value that you determined you would want to sell at or just so to say a particular number you prefer to start at in a event hypothetically speaking to auction off if so
you need to put at least whatever the price you paid for it is... it’s supposed to be retail though 🔥🐉
Do I take all V75 ASE Out of their packaging and put them in flips? There seems to be a double standard that is hard to understand
he said you can tape it to the box. 12:35
Hey my End of WWII Silver Medal came signed, how much would it be worth? I'm also getting it graded so hopefully a PF70
Where did you send your signed COA? And are they going to encase it?
@@BlanchardsBees I sent my medal into NGC and made sure to request for my Mint packaging and COA to be returned
When you send it in do you send in the boxes too? If you do, do they send them back with coin? Thanks for the video!
yeah I got everything back last year 🔥🐉
Have you ever submitted a whole set for grading?
Thank you!
Registered mail isnt much more than priority with insurance and registered carries a lot of insurance already added in.
Thank you
Now, I have a few error coins, where can I send photos to get an estimate to see the value?
I just ordered a couple of the 2021 SAE Proofs and I'll probably sell one eventually. I notice there's quite a substantial resale difference between the graded SAE's, but there were over 300K of these produced, so is it a sucker's bet to spend the dough for grading, or is it the good investment? I'm not a member nor a serious collector, but I wanted to grab a couple of these, as it's the last year - and they sold out so fast......
1982 small date D mint mark. And weighs 3.12 gram.
Do you foresee value?
next year they have the same eagle designs... 🤷🏽♂️i’ll be going for the mayflower 🔥🐉
I want to know this too.
So...regarding the original Mint packaging question. Does PCGS send that back to us?
@@TheMadChadder1 yeah I got mine back last year 🔥🐉
Thanks for the video. Will PCGS (or NGC) grade semi-numismatic silver rounds under their Tokens and Medals catagory?
I just like the cases and I don’t know about coins but CGC comic value are more then CBCS or PGX.
yeah honestly they are the same service just with a slightly different look 🔥🐉
How much does a cost per coin to get checked please comment back and when you send Coins you have to ensure them for what amount please comment back thank you
Good afternoon. Could you tell me if I have to send coins together with box and certificate and if i have to pay extra to send those coin boxes?
The fees scorecard is really a total rip-off.
Grading, for me, only makes sense for super rare numismatic items that typically are worth tens of thousands of dollars (US) and much more.
yeah some coins will be worth an additional $500-$1000 if they get a perfect grade so it’s a gamble 🔥🐉
👆 true story. A NGC pf70 just sold on eBay for over $1200.
Mine is expected to come Monday and I’ll have it graded and store it away
