Hi, thanks for your video, I got myself organized and used Palette Paper in the sliding tray, the painting worked out well as I felt more confident this morning. I organize a plein air group and we paint together every Sunday Morning in the Halton Hills area, just west of Toronto. Yours in art and in particular Plein Air.
You can use a Dremel to cut that screw down so its flush with the nut. Just mark it or measure it, unscrew it - put the nut back on and cut...then unscrew the nut to get the threads smooth again.
My palettes get that messy, I run hot water over them in the kitchen sink and use a old scrubbie and comet and some elbow grease and all of the old paint comes off. leaves the palette almost like new. Hope this helps you out, Thanks for the reveiw.
Hey Marty any chance of doing a follow up on this video? I've been on the fence for a while on which box I should get since I had to retire my french easel. I noticed that the 8x10 doesn't have a carrying handle or hooks for a strap and I've also noticed that the placement of the mount for the tripod is different on each box. I was wondering if the placement of the tripod mount made any difference and if the lack of a carrying handle was annoying.
Hi There and thank you for the question. Yes, it is annoying not to have the handle, but the convenience of the smaller box is very nice. The mount is the same on both boxes. I will do a follow up at some point soon. ~Marty
Hi Rob - That will depend on what else you put in it and how full the tubes are. Generally speaking, I get about 8 to 10 tubes in there, however I usually just make my palette up before I go out painting. In the studio, it's never a problem. :-) Thanks for the question. ~Marty

Hi Sheila - It would be great to connect up in Toronto sometime. I organize a sketching group here in St.Paul, Minnesota. :-)
Hi, I think the gap is there to leave room for the palette extension, I could be wrong. Thanks for the review.
+Horace Tarbox I think you are correct! Thanks for the note. - Marty

great tip. Thank you.
I'm fairly certain that the gap is there to leave room for the hinge plate on the Palette Extension Kit. I don't own one yet though, so not sure.
You may be right Rob. Believe it or not, I still don't know and the box still works great. :-)

Hi Debra - I find the old scrubbie takes off the wood varnish and then my palette stains even more.
@@owingsart I haven’t had any trouble with the varnish coming off

I just bought this box, is it suppose to be wobbly on the tripod?
No Debra, you should NOT be experiencing any issues like that if you have a decent tripod.
How many paint tubes can you fit in the box?

8x10 > 9X12
+Alex Barilov The box will hold 9 X 12 standard and 8 X 10 with an adapter.
