Thanks for post this man, I am heading off to basic in August, and I am in as a 91a. This is the only video I found on it besides the army’s video. Thanks for the info.
No problem bro, good luck, just keep your head down don’t give up and do what your told, and it’ll be over before you know it. Feel free to ask any questions I’ll answer to best of my knowledge
I vividly remember being at C 1-81 3 years ago, this is a pretty accurate depiction of the AIT experience as far as living goes. You failed to mention the nice little walk to the school house you have to make 4 times a day if you include walking too and from the defac. Also for the people that watch this that are about to graduate or people looking to join as a 91A, all i have to say is that the Basic and AIT portions of the MOS go by quickly. When you get to your first unit things do get easier as far as being yelled at needlessly on the daily. When you arrive at your first unit just do what you’re told to be your NCOs and be prepared for the field and long hours at the motorpool. The Abrams is a truly amazing machine, however it does breakdown frequently. Learn your job and outstand from your peers. Give your NCOs reasons to like you. It’s too easy ladies and gentleman.
Yea I forgot to let people know that, I told myself daily that the march was the worst part of my day lol but I’m in fort riley now life’s good but I’m on rear d while everyone is in the field and we worked all weekend to get tanks back in the field
Gerardo Avila basically your ait is exactly the same except shorter you guys stay in the same barracks as us and go to school in the building next door to ours, and yes the points to make e5 are really low so after u get your e4 you can pick up 5 quickly, the points for e6 went up and you gotta complete alc school before you can get 6
A&CX3 Army family thank you for the quick reply any info on possible duty stations? I’d love to get stationed abroad but I hear that it’s pretty rare for my MOS now
Gerardo Avila basically the same as us lol mikes and alphas usuall work pretty close, so the list is the same. We got fort Stewart and fort benning both in Georgia, fort bliss and fort hood both in Texas, fort Irwin California, fort Carson Colorado, and fort Riley Kansas which is where I have the pleasure of being at right now
This AIT, oh I'm sorry basic 2.0. Needs to go out of harmony church and into some actual fucking barracks and get actual AIT treatment. Not get treated like basic part 2. While I was there we had a bunch of threats to burn the fucking company down. Which is extreme but the toxicity of that place ain't no joke. Anybody that wants to go 91A. Go ahead, just know you'll be hating life for those 4 months tho.
I cannot believe I am going to AIT to fix tanks. Not at all what I had in mind. All the MOSs I wanted had no slots, and building, repairing and maintenance is what I had in mind, so I chose 91A. I just never before had the knowledge to be fascinated about tanks, so I am unsure about it. I am pretty sure once as I get to learn more and more, that I will come to love M1 Abrams. What’s even weirder is that when I looked this job up, it was unavailable to women. However, here am I, little petite me, going into the Army to work on M1 Abrams. Just so unreal. My friends and family are shocked that I will be working on big tanks. Lot of jokes are passed around.
Ethan Clarke Thought for sure that a 12 series or 15 series job would be open. Research the hell out of the 12 series. Especially since the initial job I reserved was 12B, however that was canceled due to disqualifying my physical. Then I did what was necessary to quality, and reserved a job. I ended up not qualifying for that job. Therefore the day of the swear in, I could only pick what was available. Dispirit my high ASVAB scores, there were only five jobs to choose from. I picked the job that was most like the jobs I wanted in the 12 and 15 series. That was 91A. Glad to have picked 91A. M1 Abrams are cool tanks, and I will love learning the mechanics behind the tank. Uses my building skills is what I wanted to do in the Army, and I get to do just that. Further, doing maintenance on tanks could help me achieve my ultimate goal of gaining a bachelors in mechanical engineering.
@@tiffanyplacencia2296 You should've waited hahaha. If you wanted that job, you should wait for it. Don't press your luck by signing in whatever jobs were there but it's too late now hooah.
Hello I’m shipping out tomorrow for this MOS at fort benning, I have heard so much negative stuff about it makes me wanna change but I think it’s too late, any advice anyone could give about it to give me a better understanding about it??
Damn I wish this was up when I was going through you also forgot to mention the dumb shit like the walk to the school every day or cant have your phone out at night except weekends.
pvtweeaboo yea the walk to and from school was shitty especially since we had to do it for lunch to, but they’ve since changed it to where trainees can have their phones after school after cleaning the barracks and getting cleared
There taking more and more we’re losing are phone there making it a osed instead of AIT the new first sgt is taking more and more of the freedom that we are supposed to have
That's whats up bro! Thank you so much for your upload! I got this MOS offered to me since it's in high demand at the moment.. I wanted to get 91B, but it's not available. How are you liking it so far? Are you guy's staying busy everyday? Because I like staying busy and learning new things everyday lol. Any feedback is much welcomed!
whats up victor well somedays i hate life lol but somedays its not so bad we absolutely stay busy daily and ive been on rotation to europe since january i was in poland now currently in germany. be happy you got 91a over 91b this job will translate better in the civilian world. hopefully you get a knowledgeable team chief and if so try to soak up alot, and always remember your a soldier 1st whatever you lack in mechanical knowledge you can make up for by being a good soldier for awhile, i try to check this when i can sorry for the late response
@@acx3armyfamily135 hey no worries man. I really appreciate you getting back to me though. A few day's after I messaged you, my recruiter was able to get me 91B to be honest. Once I saw your video and a few other's, I told him can we do 91A instead and he said there were no more slots open for it.. I just hope I did the rifht move lol and yes, soldier first, then tradesman! Thanks again bro, and it's pretty badass that you've been traveling in europe latley! Best of luck to you out there! Thanks for the video!
Thank you so much for uploading this. you're right, theres no videos what so ever on youtube regarding what to expect & getting it straight from the mouth of someone whos currently experiencing it. So really appriciate it man, currently looking at enlisting and 91A is in my top 3 picks so i wanted to see just exactly what to expect before going into it. Any advice or general info you can think of that would be beneficial for me to know? Wanting to do 91A or 91B, but 91A looks a lot better over all. Is it worth it? do you feel like you made a good choice? The last thing i wanna do is make a 4 year mistake.
And as far as the choice between the 2, mechanics all around in the army get screwed over, I’m currently in fort riley and I’ve worked all weekend because when shit goes down a lot of times it has to be repaired instantly, so keep that in mind, but 91a is going to get you a better job when you decide to get out, and we rank up quick in this mos
hey bro, im on my moms youtube so yes im a guy but i was jw how it was arriving at ait there? are the drill sgts still assholes or was it a little better? cant find much on this mos. and what should i bring with me? like personal stuff wise? they didnt tell me anything and im curently on vbl so im going back with no clue on whats gong on lol i appreciate any info, and what did you do fun on the weekends?
The drill Sgt’s aren’t as bad as the ones in basic, tho they were just getting there when I was leaving. I had platoon Sgt’s and they were pretty chill. All your instructors are just normal nco’s. When I was there we were free on the weekends to roam the base but couldn’t go off post. Couldn’t leave till we got cleared and final formation was at 20:00. We couldn’t wear civilian clothes so if you bring any just have em for when you graduate. We couldn’t drink or smoke either. Other than that during the week just take in what you can at school learn a lot because when you get to your unit it helps to know some shit
I don't really work with them much but they work on generators, that being said Ull have general knowledge on combustion engines so the army will definitely use you if need be on Humvees or other vehicles. Just kind of the nature of the beast
So being at the unit is a lot better than training obviously, but a lot of hours at work especially with this job. But I’ve learned more from actually working than I did at school. The biggest thing you take away from school is familiarization with the tank. I’m making a video about working at the unit should be up soon.
George Edmonds life will probably be better for him lol but the experience for when he gets out, it’s better for a job to work on turbine engines so it really depends on his plan
